#K12ArtChat Q1: Well I teach online so often I sit for long periods. I’m working on getting up more. I also started using the Calm app to meditate at night before bed to get sleep, because otherwise I am thinking about students or lessons and I don’t sleep.

A1: I do a good job with the exercise part of things, and try to reserve weekends for family activities, sometimes school spills into this though...

A1- What I’m pretty successful at with my ‘wellness balancing act’ is my ability to stay away from germs (knock on wood) #K12ArtChat My Definite No’s: no hand shakes, no high fives, no touching of Any doors with bare hands!
A1: It's a learning curve for me- it's been way out of whack for a long time - I'm learning that I can't take care of anyone else unless I also take care of me #K12ArtChat

A2: This year I have managed to stick with working out every morning before school, I love lifting weights, so that's how I start my day. Sometimes during the day I'll take a lap around the school, and also chasing 2 young boys gets me moving at night

A2: At school I have a windowless classroom so I sometimes walk to the office outside around the building (not during the polar vortex) Being outside in nature is really important to my wellbeing I’ve found. #k12ArtChat

A2: My husband and I joined a gym as a Christmas gift to each other. I have a new habit of going after school 3-4 days a week. It’s my time to unwind. #k12artchat
A2- To get myself moving & motivated, I print Once a day at school, as the printer I’m assigned to is a 5 min. round trip walk, minus the print. #K12ArtChat Creative Tips I use is to Challenge those who don’t work in class to a 1 minute plank! Been averaging 1 per period in 2019!

A3: I eat breakfast: egg, whole wheat toast with avocado spread or oatmeal or turkey egg bake, but I always eat breakfast sitting down at the table (no running out the door). At breakfast I set my intention for the day. #k12artchat
A1: I have been doing a good job of not getting sick! Being aware of what I am touching - when I can get to a sink - I am really good about being up and active in my high school/middle school but I have SAD and no windows in my elementary room. My mood suffers. #k12ArtChat

A3: I'm not good at this.......I'm a coffee all day long girl :( but we have started doing a few days a week of weight watchers blue apron meals which is helping @blueapron@ww_us#K12ArtChat

A3: I pack a healthy salad lunch with chicken every day, our lunches are short so I have not choice but to eat healthy. Currently snacking on almonds, cheese sticks, and an occasional avacado/guacamole, watching those carbs right now!

A2: I have a stand up desk in my MS/HS studio which keeps me up and moving. I am constantly walking around, checking the climate, and being inspired by the kids. In k-6 it is herding cats, every day. I make time for movement for me and the kids, but need more. #K12ArtChat

A2: I am trying to do more teaching of process with dance, movements, or other kinesthetic techniques. I want to trust the students to follow expectations and have more independence in their making. #K12ArtChat
A4: I would love to try meditating during the day, but since I’ve conditioned myself to meditate at night to help me sleep, every time I try it then all I want is a nap! #K12ArtChat
A4: I think I need to try this, sometimes the day feels so rushed, need to just sit in silence for a few minutes. I think the kids would benefit too, might try this in Art History too, just look for 3 minutes at a work before we dive in

A3: @ClifBar every morning for breakfast for a boost of energy. I often cook my own food and bring leftovers for lunch. I started eating in my room instead of the lounge to get some me time before it’s teach time. I tend to snack throughout the day but I get hangry so #K12ArtChat

A4. I have been using a clean air difusser with peppermint to keep ua refreahed and air clear. Sometimes when my littles have no recess we do some quick stretches and end with three deep breaths and they are relaxed and ready to focus. #K12ArtChat

A4: this year i have many many behaviors I am working with. I need help getting the students centered because END OF THE DAY and their teachers think my room should be like recess. Expectations and consistency are huge but difficult to maintain. #K12ArtChat

A3: I meal prep on the weekend making lunches for all of us and plan my dinners out for the week so cooking is a no brainer. Sometimes we do @homechef and I always have @premierprotien shakes on hand if I dont have time for a meal.#K12ArtChat

A3 I’m spoiled as an empty nester, my husband and I plan together, he always packs my breakfast and lunch ( last week he smoked turkey for my daily salads) - he takes care of me.#k12artchat

A5: Date night! We have a teenager who is now able to go out on her own with friends in her own car. We have been doing a date night when she goes. Sometimes nothing fancy like a sandwich and doing our taxes, but we get to talk. #K12ArtChat

A5: I am very close to my family and friends through phone but not geographically. This has been a struggle for me and I try to make time for everyone..just like at school. It’s work. At home the man and I are working on quality time balance in our relationship. #K12ArtChat

A6: tomorrow is going to be a big step back into routine after days off for extreme cold. I missed my students and I plan to tell each class that, and ask them how they are doing. I know many of them struggle when the presence of school is taken away. Connection. #K12ArtChat

A5. As a single mom, adult time is important. I make a point to set up "dates" with my girls friend even if it just a coffee. Making quality time out of family meals is a must! I use very opportunity to connect with them. #K12ArtChat
A5- #K12ArtChat 99% of my family (brother/ sisters/ nephews/ nieces/ mom/ etc.) live in Ohio, hours away, but when I visit, I spend Quality Time, playing with my nieces and nephews and being ‘the fun, cool uncle Matt’.

A1: I write lists & prioritize. I can tell within moments if my head is in the wrong place based on the entries. I make sure each task is necessary, adds value & isn’t “busy work.” Of course the lists are highly decorated & done w/every color Flair pen available... #k12artchat
