A1, SS need to be able to regulate emotion and feel secure before learning can occur
I feel the same way about all our kiddos leaving us at Lawson ECS to go to their elementary campus.

IB has learner profiles and attitudes that are woven into all we do, and mindfulness had helped

Inventories like Brigance have a SEL component as well as Teaching Strategies GOLD. Our Head Start Teachers use GOLD.

A2 We use Second Steps as a resource for direct SEL with our students ages 3 to 5.
A3: Rules & expectations are clear & reinforced daily. I focus on the positive behaviors & model social behaviors.
A3 allow Ss to collaborate with peers, offer partner/group activities that will lead them to comm with peers

A4: Not one specific thing, it's like a hidden curriculum (In the majority/all things you do but you don't always say it)

A4:Cooperation & collaboration among Ss. Class management system that focuses on problem solving rather than rewards & punishment.

A4 CE has lots of interaction both from Ts and Ss, read aloud, dramatic play to practice relating well with others

A5: When dealing w/angry kids I explain it is ok to be mad...it's not okay to hit...instead we... teach options-don't deny emotion

My son's 2nd gr T has a kindness wall where S's write kind notes. He talks about the notes w/ a smile.
