Wrapping my head around adults directing kids' play at recess... everything about that is wrong. #Kinderchat
  • Whoisasking Nov 21 @ 9:22 PM EST
Unstructured play is so important to help kids learn to problem solve and to interact in less formal settings. #kinderchat
  • CarrieMarshall1 Nov 21 @ 9:22 PM EST
That does. Can I say I have mixed feelings on this? Because I do. Although perhaps not so mixed #kinderchat

I subbed intoddlers 3s & 4s last week. Outdoor play was that outdoor play that kids initiated. Running climbing and water/sand #kinderchat
  • teacherzrock Nov 21 @ 9:23 PM EST
Yes for Ts interacting vs.standing in a corner&chatting but don't think they should be directing.Kz need to be kids &play! #Kinderchat

They have adults on the playground directing games or things with rules #kinderchat
  • CarrieMarshall1 Nov 21 @ 9:24 PM EST
So, #kinderchat I think Iā€™m gleaning that one hinderance to exploratory play is adults overseeing too much?
  • CarrieMarshall1 Nov 21 @ 9:24 PM EST
I agree- I love playground duty to walk with kids and see how theyā€™re doing. But not to tell them what to do #kinderchat

#Kinderchat at which point we need to plan how to follow Ss & let them lead the way! Maybe easier when we r intentional about it!
