Keep a unit plan with notes about what you did in class. What went well, what changes you could make if any, or what you could do completely different if it was a flopped lesson This will make the next semester or school year easier for planning purposes. #teacherfriends

Great advice! If you know you want to make changes for next time, write the changes down as soon after class as you can. That way you do not forget and they are fresh. #teacherfriends

I would love to observe more of my colleagues during the school day! Especially teachers that share my same students. Great way to learn #teacherfriends
Yea! Make a digital planning system as quickly as you can manage, or better yet, steal a colleague's. Learn and make the most of your school's platform (Google, MS Office, etc). #teacherfriends

Most fun for me is getting to know the children and families in a new cohort. But in terms of planning, I like implementing all of the changes to routines/procedures/systems that annoyed me in the previous school year. #teacherfriends#scratchtheitch
My students have individual work-in-progress trays. When they're absent, I leave any paperwork they've missed in their tray. I know they've got it, but still doesn't solve the problem of follow-up... #teacherfriends
I need to start an absent work bin and make sure it is always filled with everything the absent student needs! Will be easier now that I do not need to share a classroom with other teachers! #teacherfriends
I tend to like an "old fashioned" paper trail of things. I have thought about using printed calendars to track which days which kids were absent so it's an easy and quick overview #teacherfriends
I have in the past but have let it slowly slip as the year goes on. Might think about only collecting them for individuals when I see them out... hmmm? #teacherfriends
Have started each of the past three school years with a goal to get everything digitized and organized online, but it's truly its own full-time job! #teacherfriends

@Seesaw for organizing and keeping track of work is also a good choice. High School students post to their journals with your approval. Use folders to organize student work. #TeacherFriends

sometimes I feel that I need a full work week just to organize my google drive folders. I try my best to keep them organized and delete what I do not need anymore. Tasks that we don't seem to have time for during a school day! #teacherfriends

It is really up to each individual teacher in my school, which can make it tough for kids and teachers to stay congruent with expectations. Can cause for discipline issues. #teacherfriends
My google drive is not even close to being organized…I feel like I don’t have the time to stay on top of it. Good thing there’s a search feature. #teacherfriends

Our high schoolers all have personal Chromebooks and use them a lot in class for school work (AWESOME!) , however, Google Chat and games seem to be more of a distraction and take away from learning time #teacherfriends
Calling all teacher friends..I would like some thoughts on best ways to communicate with parents. Do you go the more traditional route ie phone calls, letters/emails, or do you use other means? #ntchat#TeacherFriends#edchat@jennyktechin
Not going to lie, as a new young teacher, I am still hesitant when making parent phone calls. I only resort to phone calls when absolutely necessary. I send out periodic mass updates to parents throughout the year in email #teacherfriends
Emails seem to the be the quickest way to communicate. If there is a more serious conversation to have then making a phone call or setting up a meeting. #teacherfriends
I’ve heard great things about seesaw but haven’t investigated it as of yet. Thank you for the info, I will look at it for sure #teacherfriends@jennyktechin

You are probably right considering the extreme positive feedback I receive from them just because of an email. Something for me to work on! #teacherfriends

This is my 5th year as a @Seesaw teacher. It gets better every year, more parents working with me, more excitement about what we do in our classroom. You would love it! #TeacherFriends

We use Remind for most of our athletic teams, but have not used it in the classroom yet! Maybe something I will need to try. I know it has great success for coaches. #teacherfriends

The #teacherfriends is going on right now (just ended at 10pm) So I am guessing Tuesday nights from 9pm-10pm! Hoping to get more participants in the future! I like the smaller feel.
