The #TXLchat provides a forum for Texas librarians (but not limited to Texas librarians) to create collaborative connections, share educational resources, and foster life-long learning.
A1 We are able to be in all content area classrooms so we see lots of different approaches to teaching and learning. We can bring those different viewpoints to PD. #txlchat
A1 Libs talk with everyone in the bldg. Others are often comfortable sharing needs/wants with libs b/c of the relationship that is already there. #txlchat#futurereadylibs
A1: Librarians are teachers by credential, see the struggles students have that teachers can help with, get to observe lots of teaching strategies on daily basis. #txlchat
A1-Figuring out what the PD needs are can be a challenge so librarians need to listen for opportunities to support for the learning needs of staff #txlchat
A1: #Librarians are digital curators and know how to support creativity Getting that information out requires a multi-level approach including #shamelessplug PD Delivery #txlchat
A2 Timing is everything when it comes to PD. It must be offered when it's needed and offered when others can take advantage of it. That's tough for sure! #txlchat#futurereadylibs
A2: time! There is never enough time. I feel bad taking their time for extra stuff and I’m never on the PD agenda so I try to find unique ways to slip it in like Smore newsletters and flyers around the school #txlchat
A2 Stubbornness. The unwillingness to change. Sometimes it would appear that no PD has occurred only to discover weeks or months later that the individual just needed process time and to adapt it to their style. #txlchat
A2: Enough opportunities to work with teachers. So many ways we can help with instruction, brainstorming techniques, tech strategies, and information overload. Need principals to help facilitate that PD sometimes. #txlchat
A2: Obviously the time factor is always a challenge to PD but librarians are becoming experts in time travel with archived webinars, screen casts, and YouTube. #txlchat
A3-I'm not on a campus but at the district level, I collaborate w/our G/T Ts, Dyslexia & any other content area folks. I make suggestions or they reach out to me #txlchat
a2 We need teachers to play more... not be afraid to just experiment with things. They might work, might not... worst case we learn something new. #txlchat#kygoplay
You shouldn't feel badly taking the time. Because the teachers are the vehicle to share with students, so we touch even more people through our PD. #txlchat What we know also matters to kids.
I think I've mostly overcome feeling like I'm troubling people. I know I have good information to share, I just need to find the best way to do that. Different ways to approach that. #txlchat

A2 Feeling like I'm offering what they already know! I have to remember that sometimes we need refreshers and not everyone knows what we know! #txlchat
A1 Ability to be & see cross-functionally and a dot connector of resources and resourcing. We see big pictures and layers of integration vs segments and isolation. #txlchat
A3 Digital Learning Coaches, principals, dyslexia or reading specialists, curriculum coordinators, ESL, SpEd....the list goes on and on. We truly connect to everyone! #txlchat#FutureReadyLibs
A3: I think anyone on campus could be a PD partner! We just have to build those relationships. My favorite PD partners for webinars are my fellow librarians @kimmegahan and @CherylTaylor7#txlchat
A3 @clippenholz and @MathPatty are my SUPERSTAR PD collaborators. We've been able to brainstorm some pretty effective methods of delivering PD to our different campuses. #txlchat

A4: I have offered Google trainings including Digital Choice Boards. I have mainly done webinars and screencasts so they can view it on their own time and then I can follow up as needed. #txlchat
A4 Screencasts work well. Sending out a newsletter with a hidden trivia question is fun, too. Taking 5 minutes during all-staff mtgs works well, too! #txlchat#futurereadylibs
@MathPatty and I teamed up with a G-Class and Twitter PD segment over the course of several weeks in the summer. It was a go at your own pace kind of thing. Lots of good feedback on that. #txlchat
A4 Twitter, virtual field trips, VR, PBL with @JillCornock and canva for scheduled PD at lunch and afterschool. On the fly PD in carved out time - all topics depending on individual. Heck I've even explained email #txlchat
A4: Any time is a good time for PD. It's great to be flexible and accessible 24/7 via archives, email, messages, etc. Point of need is critical to establish good relationships with all. #txlchat
Q4 #TXLChat Our district now offers opportunities for teachers to provide PD after school. Some of the most valuable PD can be @screencasto tutorials that you email to your colleagues to support them.
I think the important thing to consider is owning our leadership. Own our knowledge. Ask for what is needed. Takes courage :) but we can do it! #txlchat
A5 I learn from #txlchat and follow edublogs! @shannonmmiller 's blog is always helpful! Also, keeping up with others libs that I met at @TXLA last year and @esc1library trainings.
Before we officially wrap up I wanted to thank @sue_fitz for ALL of her help&inspiration to so many of us involved in @TXLA#txlchat & beyond! Sue has announced her retirement& is off on new adventures. We wish you the best, Sue!
I want to take this time to formally congratulate @sue_fitz, our amazing #txlchat colleague on her retirement-she's been an amazing chat partner & friend. Best wishes to you my friend!!
A5 #TXLChat Twitter has opened up a brand new world for educators, but there is also a lot going on Facebook. Moderating a #DonorsChoose support group gives me the opportunity to support people virtually, people I've never met before
That's it for #txlchat 2017 folks! Thank you @becalzada and @txlibraryguy for helping with tonight's topic and thanks to everyone who has joined in throughout the year!
We wish you peaceful, restful holidays and lots of reading time! Please join us for our 1st chat of 2018!
A4 We just had a planning session today for some PD happening as soon as we return. Will focus on purposeful play, but giving attendees opp to wrap head around using tools. Don't think we give enough time to engage, use, apply, discuss how. #TXLChat
Stack is an app and a desktop option. Great possibilities. You create groups and invite via direct email invites or shared link. Then share whatever you want. Some of the Ls in our district first used it at TLA and tech camp last year. #txlchat
