#ChampForKids
A1: a leader to me is one who helps lead you to the direction you need to work toward to create a better you. I can’t pick a favorite because each one I am thinking of had their own unique strength that helped me become a person. #champforkids
A1: Leaders have so many different styles, but they all care about those they lead and they are laser focused on the mission. I have always admired my high school football coach because he possessed both of these qualities in quantity. #ChampForKids

A1. Someone who shares their history for the good of the group and moves forward with lessons learned and sights set high. My fav anything is Viktor Frankel! #ChampForKids
A1: a leader knows their weakness and who is going to help make that weakness a strength. They also know what is going on and yet allows those around the ability to do what is needed for the situations. #champforkids
A1: A leader is one that puts their desires and needs aside for the betterment of the team in general. They have a big picture vision of the situations they are in and will do whatever it takes to get to the destination. My admired leader, Jesus Christ. #champforkids
A1: A leader to me is someone who puts themselves out there to take the risks to help Ss better themselves. That way they show staff that they are doing what they ask us to do to help Ss grow! #champforkids
A1: a leader knows their weakness and who is going to help make that weakness a strength. They also know what is going on and yet allows those around the ability to do what is needed for the situations. #champforkids
A1b - Leadership is much more than just titles. Anyone can lead. It comes from having a vision and mission about helping others be better than they thought possible. #champforkids
Q2: Christian Author and Speaker John C. Maxwell said, "A leader is someone who knows the way, goes the way and shows the way." How important is this observation? What do YOU do to know, go and show? #ChampForKids
A1: Someone who supports you and helps you when you need it. I am a fan of any leader that supports the love of learning. Especially focusing on the importance of courage and kindness and who is not afraid of working hard. #ChampForKids
A1: True leaders have an uncanny ability of bringing out creativity and innovation in others Leaders develop better versions of themselves #champforkids
Come here! We get them shipped overnight love from Louisiana, all you can eat and drink AND we help out a couple students who are first in their family to go past high school! #champforkids
A1: A leader is someone who leads by example and is always in the trenches with their teachers. “The greatest example a leader can show is his/her own personal example”-John Wooden #champforkids
A2. Students should be the central motivation to all decisions, small and large. They are my way for sure. Sometimes it’s listening and sometimes it’s knowing the larger picture. #champforkids
A1 My definition of a leader is someone who lives kindly, learns continuously, and contributes meaningfully in ways that inspire others. #MLK#terryfox#champforkids
A2 This observation is important because leaders must have a vision (knows the way), implements the vision (goes the way), and provide guidance to the team on how to achieve the vision (shows the way) #champforkids
Q2: Christian Author and Speaker John C. Maxwell said, "A leader is someone who knows the way, goes the way and shows the way." How important is this observation? What do YOU do to know, go and show? #ChampForKids
A1: A leader inspires those who she works with. When you’re around a leader, you would never know it because they lead by example, by actions rather than words. They meet people where they are and get them closer to goal. @m_schoeneberger is as famous as it gets. 😂#champforkids
A2 - As educators we are constantly modeling words and actions. Our impact on students and colleagues is huge. I try to bring positivity, enthusiasm, energy and happiness each day I’m at work. I’d never want any student to leave my class worse than when they came. #champforkids
A2: This is an example of authentic leadership and it is made possible by listening to understand, being accountable, contributing solutions and being humble. Put another way, “your actions speak so loud I can’t hear what you are saying.” #ChampForKids
A2: I love this quote! I believe we can do all of this through collaborating and reading books and “gets their hands dirty”. You can’t be a leader without digging deeper.#champforkids
A1 We don't want to be like the leader in the French Revolution who said, "There go my people. I must find out where they are going so I can lead them." All who act for the good of others & themselves are leaders. #champforkids
A2: If your leader doesn't have a vision or a plan to get there, your group will flounder. I research, listen. learn, plan and adjust. Keeping your finger on the pulse of the classroom is important to leading it. #champforkids
A2: In education there are many varied layers of leadership As a T I want my Pr to value my plan for my SS and support me in getting my SS to greatness In business, Maxwell makes sense #champforkids
A2: Live by example, take risks, ask questions, step out of my comfort zone, walk alongside by colleagues, reflect & focus on finding solutions. #champforkids
Q2: Christian Author and Speaker John C. Maxwell said, "A leader is someone who knows the way, goes the way and shows the way." How important is this observation? What do YOU do to know, go and show? #ChampForKids
A2: I'm working to build capcity within our building with Ts. I'm watching for what their strengths are, how to help improve on those strengths, and teach side by side to support Ts and Ss. #champforkids
I set the tone of high expectations & not just in academics. We are educating future citizens of the world & academics is only one part of that. I come in prepared to teach, learn and engage Ss with a positive attitude. I am consistent in my praise and redirections.
#ChampForKids
Q2: Christian Author and Speaker John C. Maxwell said, "A leader is someone who knows the way, goes the way and shows the way." How important is this observation? What do YOU do to know, go and show? #ChampForKids
A2: Teaching always must be done with a students first mindset. Today was our 1st day and I let my Ss know that if there is a day where I am making not you better than I am not doing my job, and it is their job to help be become better as well! #ChampForKids
A2: I keep front of mind that everyone I meet has something I teach me and I know that each action I take can influence others either positively or negatively. #ChampForKids
A2 Know the way by developing relationships and knowing your people, go the way by being willing to do whatever it is you ask others to do and go the way by being a continuouslearner and risk taker #champforkids
A2b - What we do each day in school speaks to our character and the belief in a better world for students. While we all have tough moments, we can’t forget the role we play for kids. #champforkids
Tomorrow I share with the faculty a document I made after visiting 41 classrooms last year. The document will feature each teacher and "what makes this classroom GREAT." Time to shine the light on our faculty! #champforkids
A2: Working hard to be a continuous and life long learner, lead others to positively contribute to their and others success, and model the behaviors for going the way. #Champforkids

A-re uplifting.
D-ream & inspire others to do so.
E-mpower others to lead.

Anyone can be a leader.
Be a great one.
#ChampForKids
One of my fave Presidents, the late John F. Kennedy said, "Leadership and learning are indispensible to one another." Do you agree? Why do you think he felt this way? #ChampForKids
A2~
ask questions, participate in PD, show up & engage in mtgs, read, stay current, surround myself with top notch folks who aspire to be better ,PLN twitter folks ~engage in chats, be vulnerable, show mercy & lead with integrity, respect & solid moral character
#champforkids
A2: Positive attitude and speech, even if you do not agree with other's decisions. In many of these situations, meekness wins. Time will determine if the direction is right. I will lead others in the direction that we are called to go. #champforkids
Q2: Christian Author and Speaker John C. Maxwell said, "A leader is someone who knows the way, goes the way and shows the way." How important is this observation? What do YOU do to know, go and show? #ChampForKids
A2: it’s easy to talk a good talk BUT actions are worth so more than words. Say what you mean and mean what you say by showing that you care. #ChampForKids
Q2: Christian Author and Speaker John C. Maxwell said, "A leader is someone who knows the way, goes the way and shows the way." How important is this observation? What do YOU do to know, go and show? #ChampForKids
A2 For me, the most intriguing part is the SHOW the way. I may show or lead my students to our end goal, but they have to go through the journey. I’ll be there but they can and will have to do it without me for the experience to be personal & meaningful. #champforkids
A2B: I have a sign in my class that says “you are the future” and I had a student today that told me “Mr. Marsh you are the future too!” It is so important to be reminded about how much we can get better as well! #ChampForKids
Absolutely! I tell my students that "I will never ask you to do something that I am not willing to do myself." This is EXTRA imp't in an autism setting because of varying levels of social skills and therefore, trust among peers. #ChampForKids
A2: I never stop learning and growing, whether it be from our team, a book, my PLN, or workshops/classes. I believe we should be ready for anyone to enter our room at any time to observe and see what is happening. I’m always willing to share. #champforkids
One of my fave Presidents, the late John F. Kennedy said, "Leadership and learning are indispensible to one another." Do you agree? Why do you think he felt this way? #ChampForKids
Q2: As a leader you have to know the needs of the organization in order to know the direction, you have to be willing to do above and beyond what you're asking of your team and be willing to admit when you missed the mark! #ChampForKids
A2: I know how it is to be fearless and be creative and funny. I used to hide in my room, close the door, and do my crazy thing. This year I’ve opened my door, played my plastic trumpet, and walked into a room strumming my plastic guitar to sing a lil ditty to a ss. #champforkids
I agree with JFK. Great leaders at any level are always learning to be better. They never allow complaceny to creep too far into their character. Also, leading and learning combine to form a union that shapes our society. #champforkids
A3: Leaders who are not dedicated to learning are dangerous. If our leaders remain stagnant, otherwise avoidable errors will mount up and destroy forward movement. The world is constantly growing and changing, We have to change with it. #champforkids
Welcome Dale! Yes! I think perhaps that is why GW instituted the two-term limit on presidents. Give enough time to make a difference but not too much time to breed complacency! #ChampForKids
A3: The best leaders are always learning. They are learning about WHO they lead, they are learning about HOW to lead and most of all they are learning about themselves. #ChampForKids
A3. Leaders can’t be passive in their own development! They actively seek oppritunities to learn, collaborate, and share ideas with others! #ChampForKids
A3 In our class, once a student learns, the student is then the leader in helping others with the same question or task. You know, you can help, and your friends need help. Not to do it for them but to help them help themselves. #champforkids
A2b: and you know what? People actually appreciate me and one said, “I need to be more like that.” Oh, and here I am with my plastic trumpet. #champforkids
Q4: I call those who lead but are not titled as such (Principal, Lead Teacher, Dept. Chair, etc.) "untitled leaders". How can you spot an "untitled leader"? What can you do to help? #ChampForKids
A2: 💪🏼 Strong leaders...
💪🏼 Know that there are others that have strengths that need to be utilized.
💪🏼 Go all they way, giving 110% in everything they do and show others how to do the same.
💪🏼 Show support for others.
#ChampForKids
After 20 years of teaching I proudly state no two years have been the same I did the best each year based on the relevant knowledge I had at the time. Continue to be Green and growing or you'll die on the vine. #champforkids
One of my fave Presidents, the late John F. Kennedy said, "Leadership and learning are indispensible to one another." Do you agree? Why do you think he felt this way? #ChampForKids
A3: absolutely agree! A true leader never stops learning. The more you learn a better leader you become. There is fabulous info out there to gain from and grow. #lifelonglearner#ChampForKids
One of my fave Presidents, the late John F. Kennedy said, "Leadership and learning are indispensible to one another." Do you agree? Why do you think he felt this way? #ChampForKids
A3: Leaders are not admired for their knowledge but their wisdom and compassion! These skills are developed through humility, curiosity and a commitment to our #SharedHumanity#ChampForKids
A3: Great leaders are constantly learning and realize that learning truly never ceases. In order for us to grow and become better than we once were, we must be willing to learn. You can’t lead others if you aren’t willing to learn along the way #champforkids
One of my fave Presidents, the late John F. Kennedy said, "Leadership and learning are indispensible to one another." Do you agree? Why do you think he felt this way? #ChampForKids
A3: A good leader knows they don't have all the answers and are always surrounding themselves with others to lean on for the support needed to keep their learning go as well. #champforkids
A2: Learning something new every single day, from all around. Keeping a #growthmindset to challenges and welcoming change. Being a beacon to light the dark. Listening to understand. So many ways to walk the talk, head, heart & hands! #champforkids
A3 As leaders, we know that to increase our capacity to lead, we have to be purposeful about increasing our toolkit daily. This requires us to be consistently engaged in strategic, purposeful, individual learning and implement this learning to support our teams #champforkids
A4: The Untitled Leader is one who others innately flock to. There exists a natural respect and honor. We can support those people as they are often the true leaders. #champforkids
A4 Untitled leaders are the people in the building who is the go-to person when things go wrong!
Mentor teachers
Secretaries
Custodial staff
And so many more!
#ChampForKids
A4: someone who pitches in, who is willing to step up and often doesn’t need recognition. They are kind and make time for you if needed. They make their mark by their actions. #ChampForKids
Q4: I call those who lead but are not titled as such (Principal, Lead Teacher, Dept. Chair, etc.) "untitled leaders". How can you spot an "untitled leader"? What can you do to help? #ChampForKids
A4 anyone who inspires others to be better is a leader. It can be anyone, anywhere, anytime. There is always an opportunity to lead by example. #ChampForKids
A4: Untitled leaders are the ones that everyone turns to when a new idea is shared... I keep these folks close and share plans with them before they are public. #ChampForKids
A4: Untitled leaders are not hard to find. They present themselves in every collaborative venue. If your team culture is about taking risks, asking questions, and delegating tasks to the most passionate members then leadership will become ubiquitous. #ChampForKids
Q5: "You manage things; you LEAD people." Think of all the leaders in your life, "titled" and "untitled"... what made them most successful? If they failed, what happened? #ChampForKids
A4 - I think of untitled leaders as those who “pay it forward” without looking for a payback in return. Unsung leaders are the secretaries, custodians and lunch staff who make things go, but rarely get the credit for a job well done. #champforkids
A4: Call out the positives that you are seeing. Speaking words of encouragement and honor to help that person grow in confidence. These unsung heroes that carry the banner for their organization. It is these people that we can set as the foundation for greatness. #champforkids
Q4: I call those who lead but are not titled as such (Principal, Lead Teacher, Dept. Chair, etc.) "untitled leaders". How can you spot an "untitled leader"? What can you do to help? #ChampForKids
A4: At our campus we encourage teachers to become leaders. We mentor, guide them & involve them to become future instructional leaders. Our latest staff to become an administrator was our school counselor who was recently promoted to vice principal at @MiltonESLISD#champforkids
A4 Untitled leaders are everywhere in a school. I appreciate all the efforts of every staff member who do all they can for the future titles and untitled leaders in our rooms! #champforkids
Recognizing that those around us can have tools that will help us despite their role or title! Look for experts all around to help you build your toolbox! #champforkids
A4: Everyone can be a leader, it all depends on their willingness to step up when needed. A leader doesn’t need the title, just the confidence to do what is right when it is needed. #champforkids
Q4: I call those who lead but are not titled as such (Principal, Lead Teacher, Dept. Chair, etc.) "untitled leaders". How can you spot an "untitled leader"? What can you do to help? #ChampForKids
A5: Every great leader that I have ever known was a success because the authentically cared about others. There was unconditional appreciation on their part. #champforkids
A4: Untitled leaders naturally take charge of situations because of their confidence and vision. Someone may be an untitled leader in one situation but not another. People naturally gravitate to untitled leaders and look to them for guidance. They are my favorites. #champforkids
A3: Agree. Growth is necessary, or helps us succeed, in all areas. In order to grow learning occurs. Learning can occur in a variety of ways. #champforkids
A5 Being a leader isn’t about a title or how many people follow you on @Twitter! If you ASPIRE to INSPIRE others, you are making a difference! #champforkids
Absolutely. If we had no leaders we would have no learners/religions/social groups. People are inspired by someone taking charge & making something interesting. A leader does this. Passion is contagious...without it we would all be lost in our own interests alone.
#ChampForKids
One of my fave Presidents, the late John F. Kennedy said, "Leadership and learning are indispensible to one another." Do you agree? Why do you think he felt this way? #ChampForKids
Noel: Flexibility and date are SO important. I'm glad you are open to change and willing to adapt based on the CURRENT needs. We all know education is ever-changing! #ChampForKids
A4: “Untitled leaders” are all among us. It can be anyone who speaks up or stands up for the rights of another. To paraphrase MLK, it’s anyone who pursues the presence of justice rather than the absence of tension. #champforkids
A3: As leaders, we can never be in a posture of "I am the expert, so therefore learning is done." There is always new methods and philosophies to explore. We need to keep feeding ourselves so we can care for others in our midst. #champforkids
One of my fave Presidents, the late John F. Kennedy said, "Leadership and learning are indispensible to one another." Do you agree? Why do you think he felt this way? #ChampForKids

A4 Untitled leaders are those who are solution oriented. They are consistently encouraging their team members to spark creativity and innovation. They support the collective vision of the team & engage in intentional collaboration to grow the capacity of their peers #champforkids
Q4: I call those who lead but are not titled as such (Principal, Lead Teacher, Dept. Chair, etc.) "untitled leaders". How can you spot an "untitled leader"? What can you do to help? #ChampForKids
A5: The most successful leader are those that spread positivity, and always make sure that every decision is done with Ss in mind. Sometimes we fail but that’s how we get better! “If I fail well than I failed but at least I gave you something” #ChampForKids
A5: The colleagues that i find to be the most successful are the ones who never falter in their positivity. Even when the going gets rough they take a moment and regroup and find their clarity. Make a choice. Choose positive. #ChampForKids
Q5: "You manage things; you LEAD people." Think of all the leaders in your life, "titled" and "untitled"... what made them most successful? If they failed, what happened? #ChampForKids
A5: All successful leaders understand that failure is just the beginning. They also understand that sometimes you have to lose a battle to win a war. #ChampForKids
A4~They are heard using positive specific words to lift others up, rarely seen in spotlight,They avoid naysayers&are fierce advocates for Ss & Families~often times a soft place to fall
Help? Lift them up, thank them for their hardwork, show up when they need you
#champforkids
Q4: I call those who lead but are not titled as such (Principal, Lead Teacher, Dept. Chair, etc.) "untitled leaders". How can you spot an "untitled leader"? What can you do to help? #ChampForKids
A5: Leaders serve and admit when they make mistakes or as I call them “lessons in life.” When you live and learn, they are lessons and we learn from them. #ChampForKids
A1: my definition of a leader is someone who is a servant to others- as a leader, you are responsible for making sure the needs of all those you lead are met. They won't follow you if they don't feel valued! #champforkids
A3 A true leader is always learning and always growing. There is always room for growth. If we want our students to be life long learners we must also lead by being life long learners. #champforkids
#ChampForKids folks: THANK YOU for having me! I had some technical difficulties & some anxiety, but @khoggardGRT talked me down & shoved this baby bird out of the nest! I am SO GRATEFUL for this #PLN & the Twitterverse! High 5s, fist bumps & hugs 2 you all! Keep the chat going...
A4: Say yes instead of no. Do everything in your power to make their ideas work. Stay positive and help them surround themselves with positivity as well. And stand up for them when naysayers try to tear them down. #champforkids
Jaime, I could not agree more. I am purposeful in locking my baggage in my car and starting the day in a positive mindset. I find ways to distract or reset myself and always, ALWAYS smile at EVERYONE. Leaders set the tone! #ChampForKids
A5: Their ability to listen, reflect, be willing to compromise, focus, and collaborate. Failing is not a bad thing, its the perfect opportunity to find the strength to overcome obstacles, you can’t give up- it’s the time to try again. #champforkids
Q5: "You manage things; you LEAD people." Think of all the leaders in your life, "titled" and "untitled"... what made them most successful? If they failed, what happened? #ChampForKids
A5: If a leader just keeps going, stays positive, and believes- it helps them to keep going. The obstacles are negativitivy and giving up. The road traveled won’t be without its twists and turns, you just have to keep going. #champforkids
A5: They listen without judgement, meet you where you are, do what they can in their power to get you where you need to be, give you tools but allow you to navigate your own way, and they are always available to listen. Again, I am talking about @m_schoeneberger#champforkids
A2: I will never ask someone to do something that I, personally, wouldn't do. I will show and go right along with anyone who is under my care/leadership. If I ask my students to complete a task, I will do it right along with them. #champforkids
Christine, sometimes the hardest thing is lifting up someone else when we too are struggling. But what do we gain in negativity? Nothing. Showing up is HUGE!!! <3 this! #ChampForKids
A5: A combination of resilience, calm confidence and empathy make the leaders in my life successful. Failures are merely learning experiences and chances for them to grow and become stronger. These are leaders I would walk through a fire for. #champforkids
Hi, everyone. Diane - Elem Principal from CT. Really interested in this discussion but I can't seem to get here in time for chats lately. That's September, for you! I'll enjoy reading through all of your thoughts and comments! #champforkids
#ChampForKids Bonus Q: "...People will never forget how you made them feel." - Maya Angelou
If you are a leader, what do you HOPE people say about you? What do you hope they feel when they are around you? #ChampForKids
A4: I LOVE this question! Untitled leaders are any people you see doing something above and beyond. By taking on something outside of their "job description" or what's expected, students and staff both represent the quality of leadership. #champforkids
Lead with a Servant's Heart and you can't go wrong! I agree wholeheartedly! I think it also helps with your perspective (depending on your "service"). My boys always return from mission trips more humble and grateful. #ChampForKids
Bonus: I want people to feel like they are my favorite by how I delight in their presence when we are together; accepted, trusted, valued, valuable, listened to, heard, joyful, encouraged, empowered, validated, understood, warmed, loved. #ChampForKids
