Q2: Think about that TV family you mentioned in A1. What qualities make them your favorite & how does that connect to families in your classroom? #Seesawchat
A2: What I love about the Taylors in Friday Night Lights is that they stick together no matter what. I think this is true of families we work w as Ts, too. Ps & Ss have a deep bond & need ways to collaborate to get Ps involved in Ss learning. #seesawchat
A2: I love how family orientated they are, always wanting to hear about each other and see what is going on. I love how Seesaw can help make those key family attributes happen in class #seesawchat
Q2: Think about that TV family you mentioned in A1. What qualities make them your favorite & how does that connect to families in your classroom? #Seesawchat
A2: The Arnolds on The Wonder Years are so relatable! You gotta love that overworked, grouchy with the alka seltzer! With Seesaw, Mr. Arnold could be more connected to his children’s classroom #seesawchat
Yes!! I find that once Ps get used to having it, they are super disappointed when their kiddo moves to a new grade/class that doesn't use @seesaw. #seesawchat
Hi Caitlin! Omigosh I have been watching @arresteddev season 4 to get ready for season 5 and forgot how much I love that family! Ha! Thanks for joining in tonight! #seesawchat
A3: Ps & Ss working together towards one goal. This could be a family project or families knowing how to support their kids' learning (i.e. reading w them, knowing how to help w math, etc). #Seesawchat
Teachers and students talking about the 100 ways to use @Seesaw in the classroom as a portfolio and to bring parents into the classroom. @DamickaBates#PLSDPROUD
A1. Mary Berelson from Truckee Ca. @Seesaw Ambassador. Enjoyed the Parenthood and Modern Family families. Love connecting my Ss families to our classroom with @Seesaw. #Seesawchat

Great answer - love the part about reflecting and giving feedback. It's awesome that as a P, @Seesaw gives me a way to view my daughter's work & provide her with feedback & encouragement throughout her day, plus know what we could practice together at home. #seesawchat
A3: Seesaw strengthens that Home- school connection on a regular basis. Parents love seeing student work. Students love having their family as an audience! Getting comments from parents on their work is great encouragement. #seesawchat
A3: Family and student collaboration means all involved take ownership in the child's learning. Students develop such pride in their work when they know it is seen or shared, so family involvement is so important! #seesawchat
Q3. Family and student collaborations means that our parents are connected to what we are learning in the classroom so they can truly be apart of their child’s education. It means blending learning between home and school. #SeesawChat
A3. Encouragement from Ps to Ss. Pride from Ss to Ps. Witnessing such blossoming and increase in Ss (and Ps! Lol) self confidence is so heart warming. #SeesawChat
Yes! So many Ps don't know how to help or what questions to ask Ss. I think @seesaw really helps bridge this gap in such an amazing and supportive way. #seesawchat
A2 I love The Simpsons. Honest characters. All with their own 'flaws,' but who for the most part are good people just trying to enjoy their lives & each other (sometimes--lol). I think that would be true of all my Ss' families-and my own too. #SeesawChat
Yes, this is so true! The families we work with, we may not always agree with, but they most often have their kiddos' interests at the heart of everything they do. #seesawchat
A3: @seesaw gives parents an opportunity to see their child’s work in real-time. It is authentic and gives a starting point for conversation. I no longer have to explain what we are doing in class. @Seesaw shows it! #SeesawChat

"What does family and student collaboration mean to you?" Great response @MrsHorn88 I totally agree. When Ss have an audience, they develop a sense of pride and ownership & it leads to higher quality work! Win win #seesawchat

My daughter's T uses @seesaw and our P-T conference was like "soo .... what do we talk about?" LOL I already felt so totally informed of her progress by viewing her daily @seesaw posts. #seesawchat

A4: I used to send home projects where Ps & Ss created or built something together. Also sent home leveled books and asked that Ss read to their families at least 15 min each night. #seesawchat
A2 What I like about the Ingalls is that they always pulled together. Families today are working hard to stay connected to each other even when they work crazy hours. Co-parenting also can be challenging #seesawchat
A4: I create videos showing parents how to collaborate or work on their learning, what it looks like for them and sentence frames to help them. As we have lots of ELL parents, they find this helpful! @seesaw translate features makes that helpful and able to happen #SeesawChat
I wanted to be sure to talk about the families I work with! They want so bad to support their children but with a language barrier they didn't feel like they could! @seesaw gives them that power to participate! Life changing for them and for me! #SeesawChat
A3 @Seesaw opens up the door into what used to be the mysterious world of band. We do a lot more than just prepare for concerts. I love that Ps can see beyond 'the curtain': the learning, the engagement, etc. & feel comfortable talking/sharing about/w/their Ss. #SeesawChat
A3 Family and Student collaboration to me, means that everyone is on the same page. Families know the academic expectations and support Ss. Ss share what they are learning. It isn’t a guessing game. #seesawchat
Thanks for sharing this, Sophia! Amazing! I started my career teaching in AZ & worked w many families who only spoke Spanish. I think often of how different that experience would have been for me (and them) if I had a tool like @Seesaw at the time! #seesawchat
Q4. Some traditional methods I have used include sending home emails regarding an upcoming project, guided reading books for parents and student to read together each night and paper based projects to complete together at home. #Seesawchat#LetsTransformLearning
Q5: How have you used Seesaw to encourage family and student collaboration in your class? If you haven’t tried this yet, give an idea of what you might like to try. #Seesawchat

When parents get a daily peek in to the classroom, there are no surprises for formal conversations! This is my favorite part of connections! #SeesawChat
A5: Love that @seesaw gives Ps an idea of what Ss are learning & doing in school. T videos or S screencasts show Ps what they're working on & T can even post reading strategies to help Ps feel comfortable reading w kids at home. Love when Ps comment on Ss work! #seesawchat
A5: I've only used for a month (have not connected Ps b/c I've been exploring for myself). Next year I want to begin with goal setting so parents can be involved in that process. As Ps get more familiar with SeeSaw I will incorporate reading & other activities #seesawchat
A5: I also want to experiment using Seesaw with homework, like having students record practicing sight words, reading just right books, practicing math facts, etc. This would save so much paper and make homework more fun for my kiddos! #seesawchat
Q5: Every single aspect of @Seesaw allows for collaboration! Sharing, the commenting, the liking, the blog to connect further, the multiple family members that can be added, the ability to share from Seesaw = just AMAZING! #SeesawChat
Q5: How have you used Seesaw to encourage family and student collaboration in your class? If you haven’t tried this yet, give an idea of what you might like to try. #Seesawchat
This is a great plan, Caitlin! I'm a tech integration coach in my district and so many Ts start this way-end of the year, play around a bit & then start strong in fall & connect Ps once they feel more comfortable. #seesawchat
A5 started using Seesaw halfwaythrough the school year. Next fall I will be using Itright from the start with families! I think having students & parents create videos for each other at back to school night stating their goals for the year. #seesawchat
Q6: What are some ways you have utilized or could utilize the parent messaging/Seesaw Inbox to encourage collaboration between students & their families? #Seesawchat
A5 I have used @Seesaw to post model projects and send reminders. It is a great way to spark ideas for families. I have also created videos of how to play some of our math games, so families can watch them if they forget how to play. #seesawchat
A6: I haven't used this yet (I'm not a classroom T), but see SO MUCH POTENTIAL for Ss & Ps working on a fun project at home, then posting to @seesaw through messaging. When S is on a family trip, they could post pics to their class! #seesawchat
A6: My kids' teachers had an awesome idea over a recent school break to take/send pics of different family activities we were doing with our free/out-of-school time. So easy now that we can add pics/videos to Messages! #seesawchat
A5 started using Seesaw halfway through the school year. Next year it will be from day 1! Ss and Ps can create first day of school messages to each other and at back to school night record their goals for the school year #seesawchat
Love the idea of using to provide quick tips or instructions for Ps. Even as a T myself, my son would sometimes come home with a project or math I didn't understand. How nice to have T explanations or examples available on @seesaw! #seesawchat
I love this! On vacations, too! I would have Ps ask me for "homework" for their kids to take when they missed school. I'd rather say keep a journal in @seesaw & show us your trip while you're gone! #seesawchat
A6 Students know that I message their families. Sometimes they will ask me to remind their families about events. I also have commenting on, so Ss love when they receive a note from Family members on their work #seesawchat
Q5. I love using @Seesaw to send home quick reminders for the week and to share my students progress! I love being able to share learning and “ah-ha” moments in real time! Seeing the parents respond right back makes the school to home connection even stronger! #SeesawChat
Summer doesn’t mean saying goodbye to your students OR to Seesaw! Join us to discover ways to stay connected with your students even when school is out of session. #seesawchathttps://t.co/o1RQaPteA3
A6: I haven't used this yet (I'm not a classroom T), but see SO MUCH POTENTIAL for Ss & Ps working on a fun project at home, then posting to @seesaw through messaging. When S is on a family trip, they could post pics to their class! #seesawchat
Yes! The translation to home language piece in @seesaw is such a helpful tool for our families who speak other languages at home. And to be able to translate their comments into english allows for communication to be less frustrating for both Ps and Ts. #SeesawChat
It is awesome! Once you share an activity with them they’ll see it in the activity tab 💡. It’ll have a little red circle to alert them something is there. #seesawchat
A7: Since I didn't connect Ps this year, next year I hope to have Ss share books they read over the summer to encourage summer reading. They can tell me their favorite part, what it was about, or what they learned from the book! #seesawchat
A7: Some Ts build a summer calendar w tasks Ss can complete to continue their learning. Would be fun to build summer @seesaw challenges for Ss to complete & post from home all summer long! Could be fun things Ps & Ss could do together (go to library, trip to zoo, etc) #seesawchat
Q6. I love that my parents can send me messages and I can quickly get back to them! I am excited to see where my students will go this summer and stay connected through Seesaw messages! #OhThePlacesTheyllGo#SeesawChat
A7 Last year, I mailed out the get to know you letter with the S QR codes in Aug. I had a video tour if our classroom and read a story. It worked really well. I will do it again this year. I also might add some of the game videos and send the games home in the letter #seesawchat
A5: @seesaw has been a great tool for showing Ps what is going on in a Ss P.E. class. Not just throwing out the basketballs kind of class. I used to give a fitness challenge out though seesaw and the Ps /Ss would post a picutre/video of them comleting the task. #SeesawChat

#seesawchat A6 I haven't use the messaging inbox with the parents and students yet, but something I might try tomorrow. They can send a mother's day note to their mom.
I work with many Ts who use @seesaw on a shared lab. Works great! Just teach Ss to login and logout. Setting different class themes/colors is helpful, too, to differentiate between different classes. #seesawchat
Great chat. I had to step away for a bit but lookingg forward to checking out all the comments, ideas, and suggestions. The @seesaw community is awesome. #SeesawChat
