On my list to read.....best part of summer.
Good morning everyone! 4 more days! I can do this! David MS Principal form VA here.
Read over half last night. So good and so important.
Good morning. Last week of classes!!π
Goof morning .
Brian from Mass.
We are doing this now in my building. Over the summer teachers will be trained on how to rethink lesson planning. Im very excited.
Gorgeous start to day at Jersey Shore! 8th graders hit the beach today! Should be fun!πβοΈπ¦π
Don't stick to the standard training. Go beyond what the trainers teach u & find out other features 1/2
My TBR pile is just getting bigger and bigger. Need to plan on how to read it all!
Ts can promote creativity & inventiveness in a LMS by helping Ss to profile their learning journeys via electronic portfolios.
Thinking that promoting & modeling creative thinking in LMS is same in LMS as it is classroom.
Here's the Q. Make an open ended movie as an intro to a unit. Create some sort of video or picture challenge https://t.co/7YUbAcQXW2
. Wow! Do share! https://t.co/tNH4MLoa67

A: Promoting creativity depends on LMS use. Both instructional design and SBL will propel creativity w tech apps
I don't think an LMS can/ should stifle creativity in lesson planning. Teachers are stronger than that.
Same here. Only 24 hrs in a day. Reading is relaxing. So glad my husband is a voracious reader like I am.
Good morning everyone. Stayed up til the wee hours editing my book. π΄π΄π΄
Ts can use LMS to offer choices to Ss to demonstrate mastery. Personalization makes learning more meaningful.
A2 Think LMS = digital maker space. Be creative.
how is it going ?? https://t.co/P8a46R2UyR

a whole week of discussing Formative assessment, Backwards mapping, Digital integration, and Small group instruction.
Ts can promote creativity & inventiveness in a LMS by helping Ss to profile their learning journeys via electronic portfolios.
Google Classroom has been a huge hit in my district. Allows Ss some degree of independence and Ts use less time
Good morning, ! Yesterday was my last day with the students for the year. State exams start this week. Summer is so close.
Many r. I think we get in trouble as educators when complacency sets in. Had etc keep pushing th envelope
for sure, it also helps Ss who are absent and need to make up work. We just have to insure edtech equity so all have access
Good morning! Got on Twitter early, arriving late to chat. How does that happen?!? π
Good morning, ready for an exciting field day adventure!
One of my favorite activities was I told Ss they needed to learn about China history. Pick an event; teach the class. Fabulous!
hope you had a good day, David! Ours is beginning, yours is ending. You paved our way!
That is just awesome! Congratulations!
Yes. Complacency is a big issue and I think that the way we write curriculum exacerbates the issue.
Same with me! https://t.co/Yyhh1QHTq0

How cool. Love the cover.
We are in the midst of finding out how well connected our students are at home so we can expand Classroom
I am so totally in agreement with you. The bare minimum for all ?
excellent good luck https://t.co/FEhogOEYkv
We are in the midst of finding out how well connected our students are at home so we can expand Classroom
That is a struggle. I find many homes have phones, but no computers.
I'm thinking of classes on snow days or stay at home days. I read an article about a school in NY doing this.
we can be better than that.
Didn't you post it last night? I am on my first cup of coffee though....
yes a flipped classroom using Classroom is a great way to keep the learning moving forward https://t.co/Z2DxVDxbKN
I'm thinking of classes on snow days or stay at home days. I read an article about a school in NY doing this.
Where are you headed (general vicinity is fine). I was at Belmar yesterday (we had off).
The real question is "how can you use an LMS to boost your creativity?" I see a lot of application there.
I used email a lot with my 3rd graders. Easy way to send links and forms
Haha, no I'm still editing π https://t.co/TkcjzmDakW
Didn't you post it last night? I am on my first cup of coffee though....
I agree. Also collaborate to gain fresh ideas or a new spin on things.
yes we assume that all Ss are connected but many are not, have to make accommodations & allowances https://t.co/y7kmYwVB15
That is a struggle. I find many homes have phones, but no computers.
such fun! (NOT!) like giving birth, Christina, you are birthin' a baby on paper! π.
Use a LMS to create a sense of community both inside and outside your classroom. Ss should feel comfortable sharing their work.
That is our issue too so far. Classroom has mobile app, but not conducive to creating, more consumption
I found that we learned a lot by creating presentations. We worked to get the computer to do what we wanted it to do. ;
Exactly! this is how we refine teaching.
It's a real issue still. Most Ss did not have printers either.
I'm trying to work with the public library to expand available computers as a start
A great place to start. Tech is just tech if there isn't solid instruction.
Creativity comes with comfort. The most creative assignment is useless if Ss feel self-conscious or fearful of sharing.
Yeah, my first beta sent me 7 pages of notes/edits!! She's an author/ editor herself so taking her advice! https://t.co/g9imWy7rMQ
such fun! (NOT!) like giving birth, Christina, you are birthin' a baby on paper! π.
I so wish we were 1:1. We have one cart for 4 classes. :(
Exactly. Pointless tech does fa more harm to a lesson than most think.
Have a terrific Tuesday, Friends. Off to get more coffee...
yes, it's a tool not a replacement for teaching !! https://t.co/Apg2RPi5gA
A great place to start. Tech is just tech if there isn't solid instruction.
Thanks for this inofrmation. I am moving up to 3rd from 1st next school year. Today's students are tech savvy
Im not contributing to the question at all today. π±
Printers can live wo since Classroom allows the almighty Share. I'm constantly preaching against paper
So agree. Tech has to be meaningful
True. The LMS is just the vehicle for great teaching https://t.co/satkv7feud
A great place to start. Tech is just tech if there isn't solid instruction.
Sorry- as I said I'm off topic this morning. https://t.co/n5lam1Jpkb
How have I missed that you are writing a book? Topic?
Lmk if you need anything! I moved this year. Very different than when I taught it 15 yrs ago.
Idea: lesson share. We can post lessons we have written on our website to show and edit our work.
Have a great day everyone! Almost there! :)
Love that !! i'm in !!! https://t.co/CAwXZCZqYV

My school in MA had one cart for an entire K- 5 schoolπ³ https://t.co/VG1vWrW37X
I so wish we were 1:1. We have one cart for 4 classes. :(
Thanks to everyone! I am going to miss this over the summer months!
Good morning EST! Happy almost summer everyone!
WHAT?!!!! We got computers b/c of testing.
My concern w/Ts adopting a LMS is thinking that posting PDFs is making their classroom digital/blended.
I hear ya. We shared as well. In a perfect world, where districts had $ and resources... *then I woke up*.
The LMS is just a conduit, the teacher is the real tool... I just had to
Yup. Testing is the only reason (sadly) that my schools got as many Chromebooks as we do https://t.co/WTrjcZuI8y
WHAT?!!!! We got computers b/c of testing.
When in actuality, adopting an LMS gives us a prime opp to rethink/question everything we do--for better or worse
It's YA, about a teen boy dealing with anxiety issues. https://t.co/Sh1nC3iIXC
no, I meant what is the topic of your book. π
Exactly. I'm always saying, using a Google Slide to replace an overhead isn't the solution https://t.co/HQXRJg3AKZ
My concern w/Ts adopting a LMS is thinking that posting PDFs is making their classroom digital/blended.
It does. Radically. https://t.co/rtUfxhBeSg

In a creative environment the T along with Ss become creative and support ind. and social creativity https://t.co/QI73Gcd4uO
The LMS is just a conduit, the teacher is the real tool... I just had to
Had a teacher this year start using Classroom and he flipped without even knowing what that means. Talk about change!
sooooo true! *pats self on back *
shift to an LMS should lead districts to add instructional designers. Or at least I hope. Ts shouldn't be pressured 2 take that on.
The library media specialist a conduit? Sure. Information flows through us. (Yes, likewise)
So disappointed w the purchasing model. No vision. No need for PD. No why to imagine. Like checking it off a list βΉοΈ
Well said! Same message, different tool...
And I don't think most people see or fully understand that just yet.
Thanks! I'm pushing to finish it this summer. Pitching to an agent in September π³
It's always fascinating to see what Ss do with a LMS. They naturally push the boundaries and try to make it work for them.
Have lots of Ss dealing with anxiety. Good for them to read how others cope/experience it. https://t.co/IMhwcWzkZy
It's YA, about a teen boy dealing with anxiety issues. https://t.co/Sh1nC3iIXC
no, I meant what is the topic of your book. π
1:1 isn't always rosy. Requires right implementation Ss think they're "toys". Miracles happen w/ less
They don't. At least I haven't seen it.
. I learned just fine with pen and pencil! new isn't always better for all things. https://t.co/XikxGcnrUu
1:1 isn't always rosy. Requires right implementation Ss think they're "toys". Miracles happen w/ less
Talked with HS Ss a week ago, they prefer : better memory, others cheating w/ tech, wandering on internet.
Heading to my first job interview in many years. What advice do you have?
Good morning CST! Definitely at the point in the year when systems start to fall apart
It's EVERYWHERE. Even Ts that some consider "innovative" have slides covered w content- Use the 7x7 rule!
Steve from NJ. Checking in during my 5 mins of peace on the porch with my coffee and the chirping birds
When used right, LMS supports / encourages constructivist learning - create learning environment that fosters creativity/innovation
Use an LMS to encourage choice. Provide lots of possibilities. Of course, you need to start by working up to voice
Tell your story. Speak about your passions Good luck! https://t.co/uflYK4Udgh
Heading to my first job interview in many years. What advice do you have?
I like it! https://t.co/8DL3atdx3B
Use an LMS to encourage choice. Provide lots of possibilities. Of course, you need to start by working up to voice
I meant to end w Choice as well. Build from same, choice = voice
be yourself and speak truthfully about what you are passionate about
I hear ya. 1-to-1 is the way to go.
yes. We need to also find opportunities to "teach" and instill creativity in our S's.
You can bet I will talk about Twitter and the amazing connections I have made with my PLNs.
Good morning friends! How's everyone doing today?
I like this a lot, Cathy! It's got me thinking about the ways we can use an LMS to do just that! https://t.co/XW1p92joJr
Use an LMS to encourage choice. Provide lots of possibilities. Of course, you need to start by working up to voice
yeah. Kids til Monday. Staff til Tuesday. Hey, wasn't there a band called Til Tueaday. Is this how they got their name?
Mornin', Jess & . Thumbs up here in my immediate sphere. You?
Yes they must have been teachers waiting for summer. ;)
Good morning MT chatters. I would be getting caught up on work but of all the computers in my room must use mine :/
Morning, Brian! All is well here! Just enjoying a Colorado sunrise and some time with friends!
Sounds like the Reese's Peanut Butter Cup of mornings! ('Til Tuesday should record that song...)
LMS should promote constructivist learning, students and educators learning with and from each other. Natural fit toward innovation
Last night I saw NBA finals were on. Does that mean our "Steph Curry" spam is going to end?! Never been so interested in NBA. lol
I like that angle of thinking about your philosophy of ed & applying it within the LMS. Hmm..
Hi Anne!! Lovely to see you today!! How are ya?
might have to put emphasis on the word 'should'
My LMS calculus, increasingly: Place for Ss to choose stuff to use to make new stuff; then share new stuff widely on LMS & elsewhere
I see lots of phenomenal Ts lose their best qualities when using LMS/ tech. Could be helpful to remind them to apply it
Using an LMS for differentiation is where it's at. Giving kids options promotes creativity. Can turn in verbal assignments, for ex.
Function of new tool, minimal training, resorting to triage implementation? Or other dynamics at work?
Doing well, thanks! Surprised that I'm awake for MST ! :)
Both/and? Sometimes we lose our way when using new tool, or get swept up in how others are using it
Hey me too! lol But it is so nice to see y'all this morning, glad I jumped in. Is school still in session for you?
Hmm, feels like opportunity for extra-informal mini edcamp revolving around school/district edcamp practices 1/2
Nope! We've been out since 5/20! Well into summer now. How about you?
Presuming there's capacity to build on and/or opportunities to add cognitive dissonance via "What if?" 2/2
Make that school/district *LMS* practices.
technology is a tool. You create thinking by subject and perspective, the method of delivery does not have to impact that
Schools ended 6/4 but I am year-round, so no summer for me :)
Teachers can model innovative thinking by their lesson planning. LMS can make differentiation instruction a much easier task
training with LMS is important. I don't think some Ts use it to its fullest potential
Yep! I have a few sessions (that I still need to finalize. lol) How about you?
Not presenting this year (but am attending!). Was pretty overwhelmed at the beginning of the year when proposals were due!
creating is where LMS wins. Ss can focus less on tool of delivery & more on ideas. Tech makes delivery easier
Yes. Especially once steeper parts of learning curve have been navigated, ideally in some collective fashion https://t.co/zy7qQtZl2N
creating is where LMS wins. Ss can focus less on tool of delivery & more on ideas. Tech makes delivery easier
tech isn't a projector connected to your iPAD. Tech is interactive, immediate feedback and individualized.
I need to take this meme. This is a motto.
Understanding the LMS & what it can do. Realize they need to focus more on learning not the LMS. Use other tools w/ the LMS
I'm pretty psyched for - Denver, here we come! Who will we get to see?
