The self-management and assessment piece is important if we truly believe in student agency. Choice is good. Voice AND choice is awesome. #wearewayne

If you don’t have the flexibility of personalizing path or pace or content, what does personalized learning look like? #wearewayne
  • rinehartsped Aug 21 @ 8:16 PM EDT
A2 - For educators, it's all about UDL. We must provide multiple means of representation, engagement, and action/expression. #wearewayne @CAST_UDL
  • HardyPam Aug 21 @ 8:16 PM EDT
A2: Starting with student interests and building lessons from there #wearewayne
  • Erwin13Alicia Aug 21 @ 8:17 PM EDT
To meet students needs I’ve used a modified flipped classroom allowing students at all levels to access instruction while also tapping into the generational culture of using technology as a resource #wearewayne
  • micheeaton - Moderator Aug 21 @ 8:17 PM EDT
I was just thinking about UDL when reading @MrsWey10’s A2. #wearewayne

A2: I’m not sure this would fit in the “instruction” category, but I definitely use @IXLLearning as a way for students to work at their own speed through our math standards! #WeAreWayne
  • kirsch_katie15 Aug 21 @ 8:17 PM EDT
    A2: small group for reteaching/preteaching #wearewayne
  • teachforthewin Aug 21 @ 8:17 PM EDT
A2: Students can take an active role in their educational choices- helping to determine what level of support they need to reach success. One of my goals this year is to include passion projects in certain units. #wearewayne
  • micheeaton - Moderator Aug 21 @ 8:18 PM EDT
I’d love to come see this in action!! #wearewayne So curious about how flipped learning can be adjusted to work for all students.

A2: creating independence within students to access materials, advocate for help, and have a voice even in the primary grades; during MW instruct. S asked for 120 chart, first time for her to speak up 💕 #wearewayne
  • micheeaton - Moderator Aug 21 @ 8:20 PM EDT
Sure, it counts. Especially if you’re using that data to make instructional decisions or to help students own their learning. Adaptive software can be a powerful tool for driving personalized learning. #wearewayne

It’s so important that we teach the littles to advocate for themselves as learners. As a former primary teacher, I love this. 💜 #wearewayne

  • L_Lee918 Aug 21 @ 8:21 PM EDT
A2: You can personalize how students show their learning as well. So if you can't change the pace, you can change the product or give student choice in the product. #wearewayne
  • micheeaton - Moderator Aug 21 @ 8:21 PM EDT
Q3: What steps can we take to implement personalized learning in small ways if we are not ready to jump in fully yet? #wearewayne
  • kirsch_katie15 Aug 21 @ 8:23 PM EDT
A3: choose 1 area of a subject where small guided groups could be implemented. Personalize those groups based on interests/learning styles/social&academic needs #wearewayne
  • HardyPam Aug 21 @ 8:23 PM EDT
A3: We can start by incorporating student choice into lessons #wearewayne
  • reddingcamacho Aug 21 @ 8:25 PM EDT
A3: offering s's some choice; can be as simple as choosing to write, type, or verbalize responses to ?'s. Online tools like Flipgrid can be helpful. #wearewayne
  • teachforthewin Aug 21 @ 8:25 PM EDT
A3: One small step is teaching students how to reflect on their learning and then how to make choices themselves to find success. #wearewayne
  • L_Lee918 Aug 21 @ 8:26 PM EDT
A3: Think about small step you want to take to best meet your students' needs. Try to incorporate that within an upcoming unit. Try it out, learn from it, and grow! #wearewayne
  • MrsWey10 Aug 21 @ 8:26 PM EDT
A3: providing various choices on how students can show mastery rather than a traditional formative assessment... let students take charge of their own learning! #WeAreWayne
  • RobeyRockets Aug 21 @ 8:26 PM EDT
Love seeing so many families ⁦@STEM_Scouts⁩ info and sign up night! This has been a fantastic partnership for our school for several years...thanks ⁦@RobeyPTO#wearewayne
  • MrG00dman Aug 21 @ 8:27 PM EDT
A3: I think differentiation is a step toward personalized learning! Every day during our guided practice of my math instruction, we use “just right numbers” to practice! I write three options, and students pick how they grow and learn! #WeAreWayne
  • micheeaton - Moderator Aug 21 @ 8:28 PM EDT
3 minutes left (because time flies when you’re having fun 😉)... Final thoughts? How are you personalizing instruction this year? One new thing you’re doing? #wearewayne
