  • MmeBurgess - Moderator Feb 12 @ 9:04 PM EST
#TECHtalkGA Q2: Gabby Douglas, gold medal gymnast, is quoted on https://t.co/8CoHiZ8MC6 as saying, ā€œNever quit. Never give up.ā€ How does that relate to your work with educational technology?
  • JustMewborn Feb 12 @ 9:05 PM EST
Justin Mewborn ITS Vickery Creek Middle School Forsyth County. Really digging some curling this olympics #TECHtalkGA
  • Mrs_Bongi Feb 12 @ 9:05 PM EST
A2: Trying something new is always hard. You never know if you're going to land on your face, but you get back up and keep trying! You also start to learn strategies/tools that just work for you or for situations/lessons. #TECHtalkGA
  • SFMSBen Feb 12 @ 9:05 PM EST
A2: If tech doesn't work one way or even the way it was intended, see if it can benefit you and your students in another way. Get outside the tech box. #TECHtalkGA
  • JustMewborn Feb 12 @ 9:06 PM EST
A2: Keep finding tools for people to use that are relevant for the students and teachers. Its all about the relevancy. #TECHtalkGA
  • hgsisk Feb 12 @ 9:06 PM EST
A2: Even when teachers or students are hesitant to embrace change or try new technologies, I find ways to continue to encourage and support them. #TECHtalkGA
  • MsWillipedia Feb 12 @ 9:06 PM EST
A2: Working in EdTech, I find that you have to keep going, especially to keep up the momentum. It'll take time to get everyone in board, but it's worth the persistence. #TECHtalkGA
  • mrschz Feb 12 @ 9:07 PM EST
A2: never quit never give up means that if something doesnā€™t work the first time or not the desired outcome, just means to try something else- maybe a new site or maybe another activity. Donā€™t thrown out all the tech though #TECHtalkGA
  • ksuiteach Feb 12 @ 9:07 PM EST
A1: Hey there #TECHtalkGA iTeach team tuning in to participate! A2: Gotta love that @shaunwhite comeback!

  • ksuiteach Feb 12 @ 9:08 PM EST
A2: we have to take the hard falls, the big hits to ego, the blisters and the bumps and we have to keep going in #edtech #TECHtalkGA
  • MmeBurgess - Moderator Feb 12 @ 9:08 PM EST
#TECHtalkGA A2: IMO, you just never know when that thing you've been saying or that tool you've been pushing will finally connect with someone. I thought of @MsVenturino's closing Southern Summit keynote with this Q - you never know when someone will make the Form PLUS the bitly
  • MsWillipedia Feb 12 @ 9:08 PM EST
Good point. Make it a learning experience that can spawn new ideas. #TECHtalkGA
    In reply to @SFMSBen
  • crazymrst Feb 12 @ 9:09 PM EST
    A1: Robin Thompson. @BryanCoSchools @RichmondHill_HS Media Specialist/Tech Instigator And I love snowboarding!!!! #TECHtalkGA
  • JDigitalLearn Feb 12 @ 9:09 PM EST
A2: Be persistent in your efforts and consistent in your message. #TECHtalkGA
  • MrsBayerLSMS Feb 12 @ 9:09 PM EST
A2: we keep trying new things - things don't always go as we would hope, but we get back up, make modifications, and try again! #TECHtalkGA
  • MmeBurgess - Moderator Feb 12 @ 9:10 PM EST
#TECHtalkGA Q3: The first 12 Ancient Olympic games only had 1 sport (a sprint of about 200m). This yearā€™s Winter Olympic games has 102 events in 15 sports. How can this idea of slow growth be a good thing when talking about classroom technology integration?
  • JDigitalLearn Feb 12 @ 9:10 PM EST
A1: Kris Plummer, DLS at Jefferson City Schools - sliding in late because the kids had a play rehearsal #TECHtalkGA
  • MsWillipedia Feb 12 @ 9:10 PM EST
Exactly! If there's sound pedagogy driving it, the tech used will merely be an enhancement and not a deal breaker. #TECHtalkGA
    In reply to @mrschz
  • RhondaStroud9 Feb 12 @ 9:10 PM EST
A1: Rhonda from GCPS. LSTC at Lanier HS. Favorite Olympic event is curling! #techtalkga
  • MrsBayerLSMS Feb 12 @ 9:10 PM EST
Jump on #TECHtalkGA since you're up!
    In reply to @MissRioux
  • JDigitalLearn Feb 12 @ 9:11 PM EST
  • MsVenturino Feb 12 @ 9:11 PM EST
Thanks for sharing!! Right? It's crazy to think how it finally lands with someone, and they take that kindness byte! #TECHtalkGA
    In reply to @MmeBurgess
  • mrschz Feb 12 @ 9:12 PM EST
A3: When using technology, find one tool and start small. Become proficient in that one area then start to branch out and try new tech like me with @Flipgrid today finally!
  • elizihle Feb 12 @ 9:12 PM EST
A3: adding technology that works well, not only fast, to add depth to student knowledge will stand the test of time. Slow can be solid! #TECHtalkGA
    In reply to @MmeBurgess
  • SFMSBen Feb 12 @ 9:12 PM EST
A3: Slow growth means you take your time and work to make sure that the right tech works for the right reasons! #TECHtalkGA
  • Mrs_Bongi Feb 12 @ 9:12 PM EST
YES! Thinking about the purpose behind our tech integration is essential. #TECHtalkGA
    In reply to @JDigitalLearn
  • crazymrst Feb 12 @ 9:12 PM EST
A2: My position at my school is so different than most MSs. I have no books in my space. (Long story. But a good one!) I often feel like I donā€™t know which direction I should be going. What my role actually is. Iā€™m inventing my own position and I never give up! #TECHtalkGA
  • MrsBayerLSMS Feb 12 @ 9:13 PM EST
A3: it's not a rush. Keep building your toolbox - try new tools and strategies, keep what works, make modifications as you go, and keep collecting ideas. If we try to make too many changes at once, we fall on our butts. Baby steps. #TECHtalkGA
  • MmeBurgess - Moderator Feb 12 @ 9:13 PM EST
#TECHtalkGA A3: To me, this just emphasizes the "don't give up" message. Just because it may take a while (sometimes, a REALLY long time) to see progress with the tools we're showing, that doesn't mean we're not having an impact. It's just slow and purposeful change!
  • RhondaStroud9 Feb 12 @ 9:13 PM EST
A2: Never quit. Never give up. Means technology is not going anywhere so we have to grow along with it. Doesnā€™t mean at the same pace but at least move ourselves and our schools in the same direction. Whether itā€™s 1 tool for a yr or as many as possible! #techtalkga
  • hodgesc Feb 12 @ 9:13 PM EST
A2: Never quit (learning new things). Never give up (learning new things). #TECHtalkGA
  • MsWillipedia Feb 12 @ 9:13 PM EST
A3: It's important to do a measured roll out of anything new. Make sure it meets your needs and interests, then expand, but only to enhance the process and not "just because." #TECHtalkGA
  • hgsisk Feb 12 @ 9:14 PM EST
A3: I always tell my teachers to find one thing they really want to implement and become an expert. Then usually they are empowered by their success they crave to learn more or try new things. #TECHtalkGA
  • MrsBayerLSMS Feb 12 @ 9:14 PM EST
Yes, so many people try new tech because they just learned about some cool new tool. We need to try new tech because it will help us meet learning goals. #TECHtalkGA
    In reply to @SFMSBen
  • JustMewborn Feb 12 @ 9:15 PM EST
A3: So many tools with so little time to explore. I was floored at the # of vendors @ GAETC. Slowing down helps us to learn the right tools effectively. #TECHtalkGA
  • MmeBurgess - Moderator Feb 12 @ 9:16 PM EST
#TECHtalkGA Q4: What are your medal-winning tools or practices for technology in the classroom?
  • ksuiteach Feb 12 @ 9:16 PM EST
A3: Growth should be paced in tune with the needs and interests of the ā€˜audienceā€™ in that way, we as champions and coaches meet the needs of all learners with #edtech tools and tips they can handle and make progress with #TECHtalkGA
  • mrschz Feb 12 @ 9:17 PM EST
That is how I started out. Found that one tool in our LMS now I love to try new ideas as I come across them #TECHtalkGA
    In reply to @hgsisk
  • MsWillipedia Feb 12 @ 9:17 PM EST
Keep on keeping on! There can be opportunities for great beauty in the grey areas of job descriptions. #TECHtalkGA
    In reply to @crazymrst
  • JustMewborn Feb 12 @ 9:17 PM EST
A4: Nearpod has been great for our teachers. Wish we had even more gold accounts. Student paced is awesome. #TECHtalkGA
  • crazymrst Feb 12 @ 9:17 PM EST
A3: We donā€™t have to have all the tools to begin. Start with what we have. Discover what works best for your Ss. Iā€™ve discovered iPads are awesome at elementary level, but my HS Ss would rather have a laptop. #TECHtalkGA
  • MmeBurgess - Moderator Feb 12 @ 9:18 PM EST
OMG, yes! Run away from the shiny new tool if all it has is shine! Think FIRST about your standards, learning goals/objectives, what you want Ss to do...then find the tool that works for you! #TECHtalkGA
    • MrsBayerLSMS Feb 12 @ 9:14 PM EST
Yes, so many people try new tech because they just learned about some cool new tool. We need to try new tech because it will help us meet learning goals. #TECHtalkGA
      In reply to @SFMSBen
  • SFMSBen Feb 12 @ 9:18 PM EST
    A4: I love @Flipgrid, and @padlet. #TECHtalkGA
  • RhondaStroud9 Feb 12 @ 9:18 PM EST
A3: Change is difficult because it takes you out of your comfort zone. Slow growth allows everyone to become comfortable with technology use and proper implementation. Once the benefits are seen, the need for a better and improved tool will appreciated. #techtalkga
  • JDigitalLearn Feb 12 @ 9:18 PM EST
A4: A tech coach that isnā€™t always ready to jump into the classroom and model is as useless as a broomless curler. Never turn down the opportunity to be in a classroom. #TECHtalkGA
  • elizihle Feb 12 @ 9:18 PM EST
A4: I love screen-cast-o-matic. It allows me to observe learning and act as a coach. I have learned about flipgrid (thanks @JustMewborn) and that is another great way to share and learn together. #TECHtalkGA
    In reply to @MmeBurgess, @JustMewborn
  • hodgesc Feb 12 @ 9:18 PM EST
A3 #TECHtalkGA I promote introducing a tech to Ts first, let them get it, then let them use with Ss. Mastering a few things builds self-efficacy and willingness to try more or different things. "Slow and steady wins the race."
  • mrschz Feb 12 @ 9:19 PM EST
A4: use technology for an activity that allows me as the teacher to sit and talk to students, build relationships and offer assistance when needed. #TECHtalkGA
  • JDigitalLearn Feb 12 @ 9:19 PM EST
    A4: Tool-wise - I love Insert Learning! #TECHtalkGA
  • JustMewborn Feb 12 @ 9:19 PM EST
Screencasts are awesome. Really want teachers to see the value of creating for students. #techtalkga
    In reply to @elizihle, @MmeBurgess
  • Mrs_Bongi Feb 12 @ 9:20 PM EST
A4: My practice is to think backwards. What's my objective? How can I teach it effectively? How can I use technology to enhance the lesson? #TECHtalkGA
  • MmeBurgess - Moderator Feb 12 @ 9:20 PM EST
Have you seen @Nearpod and @PearDeck? Check those out too! #TECHtalkGA
    In reply to @SFMSBen, @Flipgrid, @padlet, @nearpod, @PearDeck
  • hgsisk Feb 12 @ 9:20 PM EST
A4: @GoogleForEdu, @padlet, and of course @Flipgrid are my top 3 tools. Best practice is building and following my #PLN. Wow, do I learn so much from these experts and mentors in my life. #TECHtalkGA
  • ksuiteach Feb 12 @ 9:21 PM EST
A4: we put all our chips on #personalizedlearningat iTeach. We believe fully in its ability to make the best possibleoutcomes a reality. We also believe in #makered and our new #iTeachMakerBus is launching soon! #TECHtalkGA
  • MsWillipedia Feb 12 @ 9:21 PM EST
A4: my medal-winning šŸ… strategy would be reflection. No matter what you do or use, if you don't take time to really reflect on what's happened, how it's working, and how to improve. #TECHtalkGA
  • MrsBayerLSMS Feb 12 @ 9:21 PM EST
A4: I love @newsela for reading practice. My kids are LOVING @noredink for grammar practice & we're about to try @Quill_org for personalized writing practice & feedback. @quizlet live is a favorite for vocab practice & I love @flipgrid and @padlet for sharing ideas #TECHtalkGA
  • crazymrst Feb 12 @ 9:22 PM EST
A4: Love @padlet! So many possibilities for Ts and Ss! #TECHtalkGA
  • MsWillipedia Feb 12 @ 9:22 PM EST
A4: (part 2) I'm also a huge fan of @TouchCastEdu ans @flipgrid which provide great avenues doe voice and choice in the classroom. #TECHtalkGA
  • ksuiteach Feb 12 @ 9:23 PM EST
    A4: also... #studentcoplanning is šŸ’Ægold šŸ„‡ in our book! Supported by great tools like @GoogleForEdu @padlet @Flipgrid @Seesaw and more #edtech #TECHtalkGA
  • RhondaStroud9 Feb 12 @ 9:23 PM EST
A4: All the tools I currently hold in high regard are within the LMS we use. I love the discussion board for Ss to use as well as the content modules having the capability of providing differentiated instruction! šŸ…šŸ… #techtalkga
  • MmeBurgess - Moderator Feb 12 @ 9:24 PM EST
#TECHtalkGA Q5:The site of the 2026 Winter Olympic games is still yet to be determined sometime in the future. What would you like to see for the future of educational technology?
  • Mrs_Bongi Feb 12 @ 9:24 PM EST
A4: @SkypeClassroom is my number one favorite technology tool. Lots og global collaboration and thinking beyond the standard to how it relates to the world around us. #TECHtalkGA
  • MmeBurgess - Moderator Feb 12 @ 9:24 PM EST
I can't like this enough times! An #ETCoach who got into coaching to get OUT of the classroom is like bread with no butter. Sounds OK, but tasteless and doesn't really get the job done. #TECHtalkGA
    • JDigitalLearn Feb 12 @ 9:18 PM EST
A4: A tech coach that isnā€™t always ready to jump into the classroom and model is as useless as a broomless curler. Never turn down the opportunity to be in a classroom. #TECHtalkGA

A4: #TECHtalkGA My eyes are wide so that I don't miss anyone's answers to this one!
  • ksuiteach Feb 12 @ 9:26 PM EST
Yes! #humblebrag thatā€™s what makes the 60 coaches @ksuiteach so amazing. Side by side and loving every minute! #TECHtalkGA #gaed #edtech

  • JustMewborn Feb 12 @ 9:27 PM EST
A5: Here goes....I hope that the tools continue to encourage student engagement, and that they help students to learn more efficiently and effectively. #TECHtalkGA
  • JDigitalLearn Feb 12 @ 9:27 PM EST
A5: I hope that edtech ceases to be thought of as a separate entity, and is fully integrated into what we think of as education. #TECHtalkGA
  • ksuiteach Feb 12 @ 9:28 PM EST
A5: #TECHtalkGA the future of #edtech sees it being called just #education. No longer separate or more, tech is simply another tool we leverage to make learning happen the right way.
    • MmeBurgess - Moderator Feb 12 @ 9:24 PM EST
#TECHtalkGA Q5:The site of the 2026 Winter Olympic games is still yet to be determined sometime in the future. What would you like to see for the future of educational technology?

    That's a lot of medals, LOL! #TECHtalkGA
    In reply to @MrsBayerLSMS, @Newsela, @noredink, @Quill_org, @quizlet, @Flipgrid, @padlet
  • elizihle Feb 12 @ 9:29 PM EST
A5: my hope is technology furthers both creation and comprehension. I hope itā€™s integration isnā€™t separate, but simply a part of the learning. #techtalkga
  • MsWillipedia Feb 12 @ 9:29 PM EST
A5: I'd like to see more consensus on the definitions of things like #blendedlearning and #personalizedlearning. I also look forward to a future where we focus most on each student's whole child growth as our measure of educational success. #TECHtalkGA
  • hgsisk Feb 12 @ 9:29 PM EST
A5: More support from the district level and admin to provide quality time and opportunity for teachers to learn these tools. Leaders need to also learn the value of how implementing these tools throughout the curriculum keeps Ss engaged and motivated. #TECHtalkGA
  • RhondaStroud9 Feb 12 @ 9:30 PM EST
A5: This one is tough yet not really that tough. The best thing we can do for educational technology is accept that thereā€™s no 1-size-fits-all tool. Letā€™s embrace diff tools and gel them together to reach our goals and objectives. Put down the cookie cutter. #techtalkga
  • MmeBurgess - Moderator Feb 12 @ 9:31 PM EST
