The mission of #TynkerChat: Are we adequately preparing students for an unknown future? Can we, through community and sharing, make this unknown “known?” Let us lift up the conversation about making sure that when our students enter the workforce- they have the skills to thrive.
#TynkerChat will be held every Monday, starting March 13th.
A1: For us #hourofcode is a special event week at school & I don't really track progress. I do want all to be successful but it's more about creating a "buzz" for computer science. #tynkerchat
A1:I have struggled w that in the past. Goal was getting all to participate. Tracking progress & giving out certificates happens to be my goal this yr. Then, building on during courses & projects will be key. #TynkerChat
A1: that shouldn't be a problem, right? besides, we don't have an idea yet if the kids really have interest in coding and this is one of the things you can figure out through HoC #TynkerChat
I do have a goal for each class. It's not just free exploration but it's not something I "track" in a gradebook. Ss do share completed projects from the week. #tynkerchat
A2: HofC has been the key to LATER integrate- we did found poetry in K and 3rd, and MLK timelines after HofC last yr. That and my drum beating of integrating coding. 👍🏼 #TynkerChat
A2: Have students use a robot to retell a story that has been read in class OR create a project that creates an alternate ending to a story. #TynkerChat

Q2: I love having my TK-3rd Ss code Narratives w/ begin, middle, end. I usually use Scratch Junior for my littles but know Tynker can be used in very similar way for older Ss! #Tynkerchat
A4: Our science Ts are great- see value of “being a scientist” when exploring coding, we collaborate all the time. My goal this yr is to integrate some of their natural science curriculum w coding #TynkerChat
