#TeacherFriends A1: I have not personally used digital resources for children's books, but I have been looking at using EPIC. Hoping to get more devices for the classroom (currently only have 1 iPad for student use), so def. something I'm looking into!
#TeacherFriends Q1 Share your favorite digital resources for children’s books. How do you use them in your classroom? Include resources for multicultural books.

I like to use Junkyard Wonders in the spring when I open up Maker Sessions more. I must handle it carefully as I teach full inclusion and do not want to appear to be handing out a backhanded compliment. #teacherfriends
A1: We use Epic and Raz! Love both! Purchased Raz through @DonorsChoose for the information I get on student comprehension! We have a goal for both digital and paper books on the back of our door! #teacherfriends
We love reading a book together on @SkypeClassroom and then come back together to do a reader's theater of the book. I use google slides to share the book. #teacherfriends
We have great lurkers every week at #TeacherFriends. VERY kind of you to introduce yourself. Add your insight as you are able.

A2: My teacher friend Niki Jean taught me the display trick. I display a new book and read it. They sign up to read after me. Gets them every time! #teacherfriends
A2 Listen to children's book podcasts for kids and get the story behind the stories. This is yet another way to share a passion for reading!
#TeacherFriendshttps://t.co/W5SPVeTcEq

A2: I think finding books that relate to the students personal life is a way to get them hooked. Especially 3rd through 6th grade. I always loved to read book that I had a deep connection to. #teacherfriends

A1: My middle school students are in LOVE with E-Books right now. In my district we have access as teachers and as students to download digital copies of books across district libraries! It's AWESOME! #teacherfriends
A2 Seesaw is also a great tool for getting Ss excited about reading. Ss use it to recommend books to each other... They can create a #booksnap, record themselves reading a page, or simply share the title! #TeacherFriends

A2: I know it is spring when my students begin to make comments like, "OH, that's why we are learning this. I get it!" Their understanding is growing. A springtime ritual for me personally would be providing leadership roles for my students. #teacherfriends
#TeacherFriends Here is a video of the song and sign language to my picture book, "Tall Giraffe."
My niece took the photos on location in Africa and they are set in borders of African batik fabrics. Perfect for a non-fiction study.

A3: Currently my middle school students use an online program called, "Achieve 3000." Every article is nonfiction with comprehension/written questions. Every student could be reading the same article, but all at different reading levels.👍 #teacherfriends
We love using Scholastic for non fiction. So many resources with the magazines, videos and online games. Their informational videos are short and sweet & engaging. Perfect combo! #TeacherFriends

#TeacherFriends Q4 Share the best free video resources for kid lit. How would you use them in class? What suggestions do you have for a new teacher in using these resources?

#TeacherFriends Our first KidLit TV Crafts with Ms. Angie segment will teach a simple craft that accompanies HOOT AND HONK by author Leslie Helakoski @helakoski
Q4: @misswalzops It sounds like the videos you are speaking of a part of Scholastic News are great video resources for children literature. Thanks for sharing! #teacherfriends
A4: I use @KidLitTV_NYC in @CanvasLMS. Ss watch a video and discuss. I love being able to expand by using ready set draw and story makers too. #TeacherFriends
The first-person narrator of my new #picturebook WHAT HAPPENS NEXT is being bullied at school. Find a book trailer and 2 discussion guides for K-3 and gr 4-6 here: https://t.co/RHHF8oBzcl#teacherfriends
#TeacherFriends A5: We do 15 minute read-aloud every day just before recess. Traditional - not digital. Sometimes the kids ask me to NOT stop reading if I am at a really good part. My class has nicknamed me "Cliffhanger Queen." LOL!
#TeacherFriends Q5 How do you incorporate digital (multimedia) resources into traditional story times? How do you incorporate story time or read alouds into your class schedule?
#TeacherFriends A5: The easiest partnering of a book with digital media is with non-fiction topics. We read about how a butterfly grows, then view it online. How to Make Bread: We watch commercial bread production vs making it at home. Many choices to support books.
Wonderful idea! When she was 16 my daughter made my book trailer for my #nf kids book OFF TO CLASS with the help of neighborhood kids and it turned out quite well! https://t.co/93CciCCTFO@owlkids#TeacherFriends
Julie and I are not exactly educators, but we are deeply involved in children's literature, and really care about kids being engaged and stimulated to learn in a variety of ways, some of which may not be strictly traditional... ;-)) #teacherfriends
A5 We partnered with Storynory on a podcast series of classic children's tales. Listen to a podcast during story time, then ask students to draw a character from the story using these tutorials from artist Lori Hanson @storynory#TeacherFriends
The school system has a subscription. It’s a wonderful resource. A plethora of genres and topics to choose from. Students can access at home, as well. #TeacherFriends

#TeacherFriends A4: I think it is very important to teach Ss to "listen" to great text, so I like to let them listen to books such as the Magic Treehouse series digital audio. They can imagine their own version of the stories!
A5: I will never give up traditional read aloud. But I love collaboration using digital tools with other classrooms around the globe as we read the same book. Such as #GRA and recently #WishtreeRA and read My Father's Dragon with a group. #1stchat
#TeacherFriends Any teachers who write rhyming picture books? The 2018 Rhyme Revolution Conference is October 24-28th in New Harmony, IN. Registration is open!! https://t.co/fpIvKwORi6.
Definitely nothing quite like a traditional read-aloud. Get to display passion for reading, and enjoyment of a good book. I love to do Dr. Seuss reads-aloud. His way with words is such fun and makes for an entertaining read. #TeacherFriends
#TeacherFriends Next week 4/3 we will have the chance to chat with our own @kindergatorss, Cindy Price as she shares some of her thoughts on "Teaching Outside the Box."

Do any of my #TeacherFriends use SRA as a reading intervention tool? I have SOME of the books but am looking for opinions on how you implement it in your classroom with only two students needing it.
#TeacherFriends I just wanted to be certain that you saw this suggestion. Chat was fast tonight. I know you'll want to read back through the archive, too.
