A1) "Mind, body, and spirit!" We are looking for unique programming that sets us apart academically, athletically, and spiritually! Educating the entire student and reminding myself to stay balanced #ohedchat
#ohedchat A1: one of my favorites is "don't Prove, Improve" I am hoping to help lead the tech charge this year and helping folks modify lessons to improve tech integration
A1: I’m going into year five, and my goal this year is to be a more reflective teacher and somehow avoid the burnout that is too common in the field of education. My vision is to be an educator who loves education! #ohedchat
A1: My motto is passion and balance. My goal is to serve my students, school and staff passionately while maintaining the very important balance. #BalanceLAP#ohedchat
Starting computer science courses, modern communications, digital applied skills; Girls on The Run; pastor on site multiple days w more student interaction. #ohedchat
A1. Personally my mission has always been to push. This year as a building we are using the #cestogether as a way to build community and highlight our family environment. #ohedchat
Gary, former Il supt, now trainer for CE. Do not seek or hold a job solely on the basis of money or authority; seek & hold a job bc it permits you to serve as well as lead & contribute to what is important for others as well as yourself. #ohedchat
A1: lost connection. Be awesome for kids. I will do what I can to make connections. Refreshing my Spanish to be able to talk to some of our students and help them feel welcome.
#ohedchat
We are going into year 2 of Entrepreneurship, which is about the most authentic learning I have seen in my career. Business, marketing, graphic design, tech, communication. I'm in love with the course #ohedchat
Just like every year, I’m super excited to meet my students! I’m also very excited to continue building on an honors curriculum I started working on last year. I love that I have the opportunity to work with gifted students! #ohedchat
A1: Be an advocate, provide what’s needed to those in need, rediscover a hope and the unwavering belief I used to have that anything is possible. #ohedchat
A2: Seeing my old students again. I'll get the chance to teach some kids again that I haven't had in class for 2 or 3 years. That's why I love teaching 9th along with 11th and 12th grades #ohedchat
A2: This school year I am excited to see the growth in our SPED department. This will be my second full year in my role and I believe we are going to make a big leap in how we operate and how we serve the kids. #ohedchat
A2: I am looking forward to continuing to support learners and their teachers across NE Ohio. I've joined a new team and am excited to be doing this work! #ohedchat
A2: So many things to be excited about. Creating the conditions for teachers, schools and esp. students to succeed. Some new talent in the organization. New ideas for continuous improvement. #ohedchat
A2) it's my second year so basically not feeling clueless is super exciting. Knowing all my kids names is huge! And them knowing my expectations as a principal. #ohedchat
I'd love to hear more about the honors curriculum you're working on. What have you found to be most rewarding in the process? Or most challenging? #ohedchat
#ohedchat A2: lots of things - continuing to build on previous successes, teaching the second year of #IBbioSL improving on my first go-around with #IBbioSL
A1 I think the longer I teach the less I feel like I should ever judge including: students, parents, fellow Ts, & admin. My motto is "to support, listen & to be more present with who I am in front of at the moment." #ohedchat
I had the privilege of looping for quite a while--I loved having those three years with kids to really get at their learning and growth. It makes a difference! #ohedchat
I felt so helpless at the beginning of last year NOT knowing their names. I try to address everyone by name and if I don't know I ask! Our ADM is right over 300 so it's not too crazy of a task #ohedchat
A3. Failure is a natural fear when entering into a new role, but relying on our team of experienced admin is going to help. Also feeling empowered by our team has definitely elevated that feeling. We are 100% in it together. #ohedchat
A3: biggest fear is letting people down and not living up to the hype. I feel like I have performed well in past roles and done some awesome things. My fear is not repeating that magic and not living up to my own expectations.
#ohedchat
A3: Making sure my incoming students (freshmen especially) understand and buy-in to the culture of my classroom. For my STEM 9 class, @MrHartzlerMath and I are planning a 3-day culture intensive where the kids will set the tone for the year themselves #ohedchat
A3) biggest fear is that the honeymoon is over....need to keep improving, keep grinding, exceed expectations again and again. Exhausting but worth it #ohedchat
A3: My biggest fear about this year is working with a class that has been known as the “bad” class. Classroom management is an area I am constantly trying to improve in, and I am hoping to make some connections with students that will help with behavior management! #ohedchat
A3 I set goals I hope to attain personally, professionally using technology & things I'd like to incorporate, but my biggest fear is not being able to reach the goals I set. I want to pace myself so my goals are attainable & to reach out to my colleagues to help. #ohedchat
A3: My biggest fear is being able to properly transition from the old ETR/IEP forms to the new ones so that we make sure we are doing everything correctly. The biggest areas of concern within those are with how transition has changed and how progress is reported. #ohedchat
A speaker I heard today reiterated the importance of asking for help; what was neat is that he was echoing what our leadership had been sharing with our whole team. Having supportive leadership is so powerful! #ohedchat
#ohedchat working with our media specialist and tech guru. She is also our IB Program Coordinator, so we'll be able to calibrate a lot. The admin team is very open to using our monthly fac meetings to introduce useful tech strats
Don't worry about knowing stuff until you need to. Get in the hallways and the classrooms. Learn everyone's name. Google sheets is always the answer. #ohedchat
So true! Educators who are strong, know when to reach out to seek support. Our profession can drain us so easily. We must learn to assess when that is happening, so we can turn things around. #ohedchat
A1: Robin - IL joining late. “Learn, Adapt, Adjust...” so much of what we do is starting with Plan A and ending with Plan B, C or D!!! If we can model #resilience for our students what a life lesson!!! #ohedchat
A3: Negative gossipy talk in the building that can bring down the positive energy and start a spiraling down affect. On a Climate Committee to address the concerns. I am a positive person, so the negative talk rolls off me! #ohedchat
