It’s the best grade EVA!!!
We are going 1:1 with laptops next year ... I'm curious if anyone has experience and brilliant tips?!
Head your kayak down South!
We are missing our Co-Mod who suggested the “Rita” theme - but we will forge ahead w/ Open Mic format!
We are almost 1:1 so I’d love to hear some tips too! Anyone have any ideas? https://t.co/rQ0tjHkYnO

Hi, Jerry! Thanks for stopping in for
I am a 1:1 iPad pilot classroom I ❤️ it!! What ?? Do you have?
Hi friend.. How is everyone.
Nothing surprises me after teaching in the inner city for 32 years.
If I use the 7 iPads, 4 desktop computers, one Chromebook, a personal iPad and a Kindle, I am 1:2!
Billy, my famous friend! Glad you are here for too! How was your Monday?
We just went 1:1 with iPads. Establish routines. Don't try to overdo it-learn & implement a few apps/websites at a time
We have Chromebooks-I have access to school’s (8 designated to me) & I got 9 via ! (22 Ss) https://t.co/jCnVgDNGP9

Nancy, what is The Skimm?
I would say that sounds right! :)
create a tech team by teaching a couple of your more tech savvy Ss how to fix common technical issues
Monday was good now if website would work on Chrome it would be better.
That’s awesome too! Getting good at rotating kids through different activities. https://t.co/JzL9TYrPi2

Consuming is not one of the 4Cs--20th century master skill in the USA. Our student come to us as consumers already.
Great suggestions Katy - What’s the district policy for adding apps? https://t.co/3GdedJr4E9

Good evening folks!! Nate from Nebraska. Elementary Integration Specialist.
hi everyone, finally making a chat
Hi Nate! How are you doing? We are having an Open Mic nite & I bet you have lot to add!
Also esp if you are not 1:1, flexibility in schedule--routines are key, but cannot be lockstep if you aren't 1:1. Do your best.
How do they know what to curate for your news?
We can suggest apps to download onto Ss iPads. The district preloaded a lot of awesome ones from a list 4th Ts made
Careful giving me a mic! =o)
You go, NNAAATTEE!! We are ready!
DAVE!!! Good to see you here tonight! It’s been a while.
hi Jenn. just got here...open mic night?
Yes it is! What do you want to talk about?
Flexibility is key - it takes a bit of getting used to - but worth trying new things. https://t.co/LRu6AEYCKv
Also esp if you are not 1:1, flexibility in schedule--routines are key, but cannot be lockstep if you aren't 1:1. Do your best.
it's been too long for Monday night inspiration. I need some.
Important to share with colleagues the good of tech--often colleagues only see the amazing and then feel it's too unreachable.
A rule in our school: “Never give the mic to Mrs. Carroll” A Ss saw me w/ one & ratted me out to principal. https://t.co/wWwqFVuf6S
Careful giving me a mic! =o)
The district pushes all out. Each grade level has a different set of apps.
A2 Seeing Ss collaborate and explain their thinking more is awesome. Figuring out the workflow is the challenge for me.
Having my students go to other teachers’ rooms to demonstrate tech and act as support staff can make a difference!
That’s awesome - seems like it would work smoothly. Feel like sharing one or two of your favorite apps? https://t.co/DaJqJUTUeR

is anyone 1:1 w Chromebooks? I team teach. Always looking for good web based resources for sci and ss. Math too as always.
Pop Quiz ! You're dropped in a 1:1 classroom and can only use one app. What do you do? What do you do?
Great idea--I will use that one!
Great Idea - I know had real success with this idea! https://t.co/KQ5Qk4gj0p
create a tech team by teaching a couple of your more tech savvy Ss how to fix common technical issues
we are lucky district pays for us to have iReady, Dreambox, IXL, tenmarks, Achieve, CORE5
It’s a win all around! And it’s less intimidating for the other teacher, because it is kids teaching kids. https://t.co/RRpMNsRBMT
Great idea--I will use that one!
Some students are such tattle tales!
Excellent point Mark. It’s best to try sharing something easy & doable for buy in. https://t.co/Zpzvn5qRxe
Important to share with colleagues the good of tech--often colleagues only see the amazing and then feel it's too unreachable.
Yes! I can send out my “tech team” to help! https://t.co/9vjota4NWv

I actually love that idea. It’s deflating when kids say “we used this last year!” https://t.co/qBKBiVJ4og
The district pushes all out. Each grade level has a different set of apps.
In and out tonight as I'm joining in the conversation from a restaurant
We use Notability, Pic Collage, and Chicktionary a lot. https://t.co/xbtrdSOnRC

Some apps are the same from grade to grade. Some are more specific https://t.co/xv8a7SF1Bd

I look fwd to Jerry's winning lotto numbers, where the missing socks go, and the meaning of life pages You are amazing Jerry!
I would definitely suggest the app! I great, simple digital portfolio that kids manage. Take pics, voice overs, and more!
They added beta video recording recently as well for chromebooks.
I haven’t heard of Chicktionary - but love Pic Collage. Notability looks awesome.
I like to ask Ss who can help eachother. It's always better coming from a peer. Ss often have better answers than I do!
Chicktionary is right up your alley! We sometime use it in the word work stations.
What inthe workflow has been most challenging? Is it curating?Or the time it takes for certain Ss to finish https://t.co/ijIi0P8gWF
A2 Seeing Ss collaborate and explain their thinking more is awesome. Figuring out the workflow is the challenge for me.
One challenge for me lately is when we have more than one digital activity, hard for some Ss to switch gears.
Time for a 1/2 way brain break! BB Salty? Or Sweet?
Getting some Ss to finish I think is a large part of it. The more devices, the more ind work time.
I LOVE Front Row Ed for math
Can you say more about what it is?
I find that difficult too - but I think having some time limits helps. I know I always give in & give more
read theory looks interesting. The weebly I use from time to time. That's a good resource.
I would think something like Educreations or ExplainEverything - Ss can create content. https://t.co/iO6LykWG2m
Pop Quiz ! You're dropped in a 1:1 classroom and can only use one app. What do you do? What do you do?
Yes! We were just trying to grow a plant! It has taken a MONTH to get this far!
There’s also an ELA portion but I haven’t used that yet. My Ss love the math!
Wow! This is a tough question! I think iMovie because students can create with & document their learning. https://t.co/ytac0KqmEC
Pop Quiz ! You're dropped in a 1:1 classroom and can only use one app. What do you do? What do you do?
Free - there is a pay portion if you want PBL lessons.
I think Ss can use the district curriculum to doc, reflect, explain thinking
I love iMovie. Such a powerful tool!!!
Wow! Lucky is right. How do you incorporate all these during your day? https://t.co/7RDinuXD53
we are lucky district pays for us to have iReady, Dreambox, IXL, tenmarks, Achieve, CORE5
Enjoy your family dinner! This will be archived - Hope you are well!
Seesaw is an awesome app. I like the ability of reflecting on student growth, connecting with parents https://t.co/LdxOjsW9tz
I would definitely suggest the app! I great, simple digital portfolio that kids manage. Take pics, voice overs, and more!
Hi Clarissa! Glad you are here!
Have you been using this a lot? I know I said I would and have fallen down on this. :(
Not as much as I had hoped, but we are trying!
I decided to use each for a different math strand ex. iXL for geometry, IReady for measurement, Tmarks for fractions
Ohhh - I need to check that out! That could be a game changer - yes? https://t.co/lJCPW5Lk29
They added beta video recording recently as well for chromebooks.
I agree with either educreations or seesaw https://t.co/0sTsPPCoNM
I would think something like Educreations or ExplainEverything - Ss can create content. https://t.co/iO6LykWG2m
Pop Quiz ! You're dropped in a 1:1 classroom and can only use one app. What do you do? What do you do?
Excellent idea Dave! That way students are getting a variety of presentations! :) https://t.co/WQUjxbwyWJ

One non-device res: DiscvEd Virtual Field Trips, I like the archives, you can start anywhere pause, jump https://t.co/bJZzjGkiIR
Homework for ALL my friends: If you have not tried , spend 20 minutes tonight and check it out. You won’t be disappointed.
I realize I’m about 8 minutes behind in this chat!!! Good golly!
ixl crosses over at times and. Dreambox I can't control but overall I like the plan to add value for each.
I think it’s more of a management thing for me - I just need to start using it more! https://t.co/Jwj5V13WKC
What could we do to make things easier?
I would choose seesaw or Explain Everything. Both allow students to share their thinking. https://t.co/1w61JageU5

Pop Quiz ! You're dropped in a 1:1 classroom and can only use one app. What do you do? What do you do?
it's a word building game!
this year I also created timed drills on thatquiz for kids to work on math automaticity
this year I also created timed drills on thatquiz for kids to work on math automaticity
Automaticity still a problem for many of my students. Age old problem! Pretty cool you can do that!
Tried to take a Virtual Field trip of the White House today and my computer crashed-actually thought: “conspiracy”
I mostly use it in Chrome on Macs and Chromebooks.
Awesome that graders are doing this! Start'em early. https://t.co/QnATggKeGN
Having my students go to other teachers’ rooms to demonstrate tech and act as support staff can make a difference!
Let me know how it goes!!
Pretty cool Jenny! Looks like they are loving it!
has private class feed, also can share with parents (their S), then new is class public blog. trying class blog recently
I just checked it out!! Very cool! Maybe you will have to train us all!
I'm definitely going to have to explore this!
Give yourselves a round of applause for an amazing Open Mic night! What a great night! Thanks to - missing
