Discussing the aspects of working in and with Title I schools where the majority of the students are of poverty and low income families. Resources are low, so we discuss ways to help our students get the valued education they deserve. We have to believe in them when they don't believe in themselves. Everyday, your goal should be to reach one, teach one. We make no excuses about the number of lemons we have because at the end of the day, our lemonade will be sweet and refreshing, and everyone is going to want a glass.

Icebreaker: tell me the character education word of the day
A1: Beliefs, rituals, stories, attitudes, relationships, and rules that's shape and influence the function of a school
David from VA dropping by. My Ss like recreation time because they talk about it everyday.
A1. School culture is made of a combination of the school past and what is currently happening.
A1. Traditions and attitudes of all stakeholders define the culture of a school.
A2: Walking on the 3rd tile, STAR Student lunch, weekly character ed word of the week,
A2. We are a prison school! And yes. We are a Title 1 school. Juvenile Corrections.

unfortunately several years ago (and several administrations ago)!they were stopped. It hasn't been the same.
A3. Definitely. When we had Honor roll the Ss worked hard and every month it expanded. Now motivation is low.
A3: I think if a student has positive experiences everyday, they will wake up every morning ready to learn
A3. As Ts some of us have been able to successfully replace school culture w/positive classroom culture.
new Admins are working to give Ts tools 2provide pos experiences every day. T coaches for pedagogy & me 4 Tech.
A4: Have professional learning communities, host diverse events, do surveys, create a leadership team

Yes. For better or worse. It impacts Ts and Ss alike - Mike from MD Lurking.
A4. I think every stakeholder needs to put forth the effort to improve culture. We can't sit back & blame others. B proactive
A5 Sts pick up on the growth mindset of a school culture. Grit, flexibility, and cohesiveness is a must for our kids!
A4 If all stakeholders are not involved obstacles can be insurmountable! Not acceptable for any school!

NEVER! School culture must permeate the building in order for things to get done!
