- Great time for a Vanguard team, huh? :)
- In all seriousness, our model is a great way to build capacity internally. Make use of your human resources.

Hello Everyone! Christian! Instr. Tech Coach/Co-teacher. Ready to learn from y’all and excited.
lol I hate that drive. esp going leaving on a friday to come back by Sun. Jesus by a Fence!
where did you get your cute avatar?
A1: Since I don't have a school, I get a taste of from all of my peeps!
a1: yes. I think many people though get STEM and Science confused!
Kathleen from Hillside checking in
no, I don't know how that is... It's been a long time for many of us! LOL.
We have a great STEM program built into our amazing technology and innovation lab through our IB program
A1. I don't think we have a specific STEM prg, but 2 members & Tech Club count
Abbotts Hill is a SEM school, but STEM can easily be part of the process.
A1:I’ve seen outstanding class lesson but look forward to a collective school effort in the future.
- But you're the T for them, right??
Im curious 2 see how IB looks n ES.I did ST n City Schools of Decatur.4/5 Academy does IB.K-3 does Exp. Learning
A1 has a STEM lab that our Ss visit 2x a month. Started w/ lego curriculum, has definitely expanded
STEM can be done many ways! A club is a great start what happens in Tech club? https://t.co/DzFfwDyJte
A1. I don't think we have a specific STEM prg, but 2 members & Tech Club count
One of them. I'm trying to recruit more.
Is the school planning a collective effort? Or are you lifting them up yourself?
A1 Love seeing the STEM integration pulled into PBL. So easily done at any level…ES MS HS!
- I agree. and are a beautiful educational marriage.
That's how we implement a lot of our integration.
Tech Clubs aka Innovation camps :)
Just another word for "MakerSpace"
It is a beautiful thing to have seamless integration of STEM and PBL
I'll be seeing you soon enough and I'll pry it out of you! I want to be part of the cute avatar club too.
I also like adding in the Design Thinking process with my students!
- Bahahaha! I will break eventually! :)
a2: Ss rotate every other week btwn the STEM Lab and the Literacy Lab in our building. I manage the Lit. Lab.
A2: developing toward PBL
STEM is actually interdisciplinary at many of the schools I have observed.
I'm not 2 familiar with the primary years program, but I know high point elem is involved if you know anyone there
We currently have SEM day one day a week whole school for an hour. Students choose cluster to attend. Lots of STEM activities
A2. Since left, STEM is MinuteMath, Tech Club, & garden.
How was your experience with this at first?
A2 Ss rotate between STEM lab, media center and guidance. Mr. M & I coordinate some things, also work w/ PLC's
what would you say is an important element in pulling that off?
Awesome! The Ss love it and so do the Ts. Gives more choice and flexibility than regular classroom.
I know of it 2 some extent. Almost did it as a magnet n HS.Went w the Honors Mag at the HS I grad from https://t.co/Ide52HR25I
Lots of American Schools on the international circuit use the IB/MYP/PYP. Don’t know if that helps though.
I was ready for this question
- I like this one! has a great opportunity to support the T for schools!
a3: I see kids using the tech to help them problem solve. like figuring out the design to code w Ozobots
catching your teachers during PLC is an awesome time to get STEM awareness out there Great Work!
Endicott here ready to add the "A" input for STEAM. :) music T!
A3: be present and open to be a part of cross-curricular discussions during planning
a3: I want to see them communicate there learning w what they are building/creating
A3 Understand the true implementation of it first. Then coach teachers to move toward that integration.
While working in schools around FC I have seen amazing work both in PBL and STEM
A2: Shana from Gwinnett, popping in..it is a connections class for all grades currently. 1st year that way
Q3: Show off/share our natural everyday STEM efforts we participate in
That is awesome! I love that you mentioned "Problem Solving" can we have STEM without those 21st century skills?
A3 Ts teach specific content, so it's easy to catch Sci Ts. Luckily, it's a 2 way street, bounce ideas around
just realized I typed the wrong homonym when typing too quickly…their
I agree! Great point!
https://t.co/BOxJyk3ORA
A3: be present and open to be a part of cross-curricular discussions during planning
our stem kids just got the A with a trip to the High in how Art integrates with design
Just remember - they have to attend or no stopping by for "leftovers"
I'm still working on getting Ts to use technology. It's working. More Ts checking out equipment.
No! It’s low level work w/o. STEAM requires thinking and creativity and integration.
I like to integrate STEM into our TAG PBL units. You can see the critical thinking in action. Any favorite lessons?
- Baby steps are still steps in the right direction!
Powerful things happen with our students when we allow this! I know you have great experiences
A3: Persistence and being patient. Empower Ts and value their time when you meet with them. Allow them time to tinker
That article I just posted spoke about that as well and used Leonardo D. as an example. https://t.co/aIDVBbx0DJ
No! It’s low level work w/o. STEAM requires thinking and creativity and integration.
- Very cool way to look at a cell! Love that!
That should be a poster or a T-shirt!! I love it
A3: Authentic learning. In music I teach them how to create music to add to presentations w/o "stealing"!
yes! but not necessarily with S or E completely. W T and M yes! I try to focus more on the humanities
have you tried leap motion ? It's really cool for augmented reality
A3- really does a great job when they practice what they preach! Ts need to see to do.
but I have done a few STEM related things n my room. Also just ordered STEM related things 4 Ss w Vanguard funds
What cool STEM resources do you use with you math teachers?
A4. Need Vanguard members to kickstart it. IMO
Go Chanel!!!! You are great!
A4 Ts must be interested in a STEM program
a4: I think a workshop/PD in letting Ts experience a true STEM lesson for themselves.
Great STEM conference is , first week in March come join us
What type of resources did you purchase? Always looking for good ideas.
A4: what about Teacher Buy-In Can?
A4 communication , communication, communication
- Good thing we have so many great ones in our schools!
A definition for your school. Goals to accomplish and ways to provide support to assist Ts in the transformation.
Saw a cool math science lesson using coordinate grids and circuits. They had to make a dance revolution mat!
A4 a good professional development team
A4: What about teacher buy-in can STEM work without the Buy-in?
A4: Majority of Ts on board. Thorough PD & resources provided to Ts. Ps support. Various type of equipment/tools for Ss to use
