    I actually wrote about this - three Rs: Remind, redirect, and reteach. Then, give a choice. Clear result for each choice. Student makes choice, then follow through. Ultimately once a choice is made, there is no longer a struggle. #tlap

    A2: One way I avoided power struggles was to get to know my students. I knew the students who were more likely to push back. I also tried to remember not to take things personally. When you teach high school this is Rule #1! #tlap

    A2: Always de-escalate. I see if kid needs some time to walk or sit out in our courtyard to cool off. Then when ready, I chat away from other kids and ask questions to find out the heart of what's going on. Usually nothing to do with me. #tlap #MLmagical
