The #michED chat is a grassroots effort dedicated to giving teachers, students, and parents across Michigan a bigger voice in the conversation about education in our state. We welcome all voices through a variety of projects, media, and social networking. We’re trying to address educational issues through apolitical conversation, spreading ideas and stories of success from Michigan classrooms across the state, and helping teachers and students regain the courage to connect and demonstrate that schools in Michigan are creating amazing opportunities for learning. We want the face and voice of education in Michigan to be a mural of shared experiences and positive examples of connected learning.

A1: I always look forward to #MACUL19 If you can swing it I highly recommend the sessions on Wed. They usually have a fee on top of the conference fee but I’ve always found them worth it. #miched
Don't forget, #MEMSPAchat is TOMORROW at 8pm EST.
Cultural Awareness in Education discussion with @MEMSPA leader @MrDomagalski
Spread the word for this trending, can't miss chat! #miched
I’ve always wanted to go to MRA but it is the weekend after #MACUL19 so it is hard to make. (I think my husband would kill me.) I’ve heard great things about it though. #miched
Q2: One of my favorite things about connecting with other educators is learning about their favorite resources. What are yours? (Books, websites, blogs, etc.) #miched

Q3: Ok, last fluffy question…how do you beat the winter blues in your classroom? This run from the holiday break to spring break is a hard one. What do you do to keep things fresh? #miched

I never thought about it but many of my most adventurous ideas (Dinner Theater, economic simulations) began in February. Apparently I get more creative in the the throws of grey winter! #miched

A3: I try and have lots of team building activities and review games. Exams and a new semester break up our schedule. Helps to create some warm fuzzies to get through the winter. #miched
A4: One wish...bring a group of smart educators (teachers & administrators) together to brainstorm ways to reenergize the profession while putting students first. #miched#WeCanDoIt!
A4: how about a teacher input panel for all policy #MichEd Oh and requiring all policy makers to spend a week in schools each year in the role as teachers
I totally agree with the end to high stakes testing. 3rd grade is the beginning of all that and it is exhausting! It becomes pointless because the kids are not connected to it and don’t try their best. #miched
That was my wish! @gretchenwhitmer I will volunteer myself and @sewardstephen to be apart of the group. In fact I can just make up a list of people for you if you want. :-) #miched

True collaborative efforts among the efforts to improve education that respects the professional integrity of teachers, is research-based, and community applicable. #MichEd
A5: I like to greet my students as they enter the classroom. I say hello or good morning, give them a high five or pat on the shoulder and look them in the eye. I also make them say something back. It is pure torture for some but I know they like it. :-) #miched
Q5: I always like to send personal, hand written letters, to each student (2-3x per year). Thinking i need to do this for those adults that influenced me and supported my thinking throughout 2018 (starting now) #miched
I like to ask a few students to eat lunch with me. They can bring a friend from any classroom. Just a good way to have a conversation and get to know them better. #miched
