A4 Spring break is hard for many of my students. no structure, some not sure where food will come from, many will not do anything

My thumbs my thumbs are on fire ... Tweeting on a phone is rough.
-
My parents found out two years ago at my wedding. Apparently my dad thought the geography in the trip was off.
-
when we went to the Cayman island we swam with sing rays on the sand bar but they had stingers so it was kind of scary.
-
It is very sad to know that this is NOT something all students look forward to having. https://t.co/PS23leVz1p
-
-
A4 Spring break is hard for many of my students. no structure, some not sure where food will come from, many will not do anything
-
Wow, you're brave! I'm sure you'll have a blast!
-
A4: For students, spring break means a time to practice for the summer.
-
Absolutely! It's hard this week as we may experience many behaviors due to them not wanting to be away
-
A4 I hope they get a week to "turn off" - I never gave homework over Spring Break for this reason.
-
-
-
Some kids plan trips 2 Europe while the kid next to them is getting evicted & moving into a shelter.
-
A4: For some, spring break is a break away from school- like it is for Ts. For some, they dread it.
-
A4 Mix of emotion. For some excitement and adventure, for others loneliness and anxiety over a change in routine.
-
A4: Sleep, Netflix binging....and a little reading I'm hoping
-
A4 I wouldn't have answered that way until working here- small districts didn't see those issues https://t.co/JrgefmkaJX
-
-
A4 Spring break is hard for many of my students. no structure, some not sure where food will come from, many will not do anything
-
Many of my ss really look forward to spending time w/ family or friends but others will miss school even if they don't say it
-
A4: Ss are going to FL, others staying at home. Some Ss with never see other areas. Shared mine with Ss :https://t.co/ramb8LAcpn
-
For many their safe place is school. Take that away and they're miserable.
-
Great point! Some students are going on great trips, others will never have those experiences.
-
when I wrote this question thought Ss would be excited for break but then thought of your answer- sad for some
-
-
My kids wouldn't do that because of the stingers. At the private island all stingrays do not have stingers.
-
A4: I like to create fun challenge activities or tasks they can try to complete over the days
-
there is no one right way to get to a destination. It is the journey of life that gets us to destination
-
A4 as many of mentioned spring break varies greatly and i think this is why we are pushed to not make it a big deal at our school
-
Q5 Thinking about how excited Ts and many Ss get for time away from school- how do we make school as exciting as spring break?
-
Love this idea for break! Great time to help families be connected! Blessed my family fostered that! https://t.co/jfYq9HZm8O
-
-
A4: I like to create fun challenge activities or tasks they can try to complete over the days
-
I usually have to post questions beyond chatting so no way on phone glad took that on tonight.
-
Love this idea! Only two days to plan
-
Re A4: Can you force students to read for pleasure?
-
-
Love this idea, - a checklist of unique activities they could do with friends/family
-
I thought there would be a mix but my answer would have been sim to yours
-
Its almost like a learning menu with choice options. Student choice is great and then they choose adventure
-
-
A5. 3 C's....Connections, Collaboration, and Competitions!
-
Glacier NP and Wrangell were amazing when we went there! Beautiful. Indescribable.

-
-
For many their safe place is school. Take that away and they're miserable.
-
A5: More content and activities need to benefit student interest/passion. Too much is currently going "through the motions"

https://t.co/iPWyiMd6xq
-

-
A5 create a caring compassionate engaging and fun learning environment - focus on relationships over content
-
Very cool! Thanks for sharing!
-
A5: I think kids are also turned off by our pressured pacing. We are so pressed for time and they feel that.
-
Yes, - how often do we say that we have to "get through" content rather than cultivate a desire to continue learning?
-
A5: Authentic audiences and real world scenarios/projects, with the freedom and safety to fail and learn.
-
Q6 Thinking about best destinations, how can we incorporate the idea of travel, vacation, etc. in our classes?
-
We need to cultivate student passion to learn. Such a struggle to teach passion, desire and grit to learn.
-
happiness comes not from longing for what you don't have but cherishing what you do. Life lessons
-
It has been so cool to see Ss playing Lure of the Labyrinth and Prodigy math at home this week

-

-
Whoa - this is a REALLY clever idea! https://t.co/QICwgkHGSg
-
-
A6: Use travel plans for geography, cost analysis and research, compare drive vs fly, create travel brochures.

-
-
A6: Sharing images & knowledge from your trip really engage Ss. Your experiences opens the world to ALL Ss. So cool to see!
-
Last question coming up in a minute!
-
Agreed! Open up your Ss minds to what is out there by sharing your story! https://t.co/aWrCcPe7OR
-

-
Yes, but the Cayman Island's is an hour ahead of us. Crazy, huh?
