Our chat will focus on the idea that we can lead and make positive change from any position in our school systems. Leadership is not about a title, it is a way of thinking and acting.

Good Morning #LeadLAP rockstars! Sarah Johnson, High School Principal from chilly NW Wisconsin and mom, wife, sister, daughter, friend, writer, singer, and balanced pirate. :) In word, balance is CRUCIAL.
Roman from Ontario, Canada. HS Teacher/Student Success Leader/Agent of Transformation. Doing my best to be here for #LeadLAP Balance to me is all about KINDNESS. To yourself and all those around you; the balance of time.
Good morning #LeadLAP! I'm Brandy from Houston and balance to me means that I'm busy but connected to my purpose of serving students, families and teachers and have a genuine smile on my face and gratitude in my heart.
Yes yes yes! Never lose sight of "you" in all the roles you pile on. My experience has shown that causes a sinking ship. #LeadLap. Great thoughts Mr. Garcia!
Grateful be here to discuss this topic today! I'm Jessica, elem principal/District assessment coordinator in cold Wisconsin! Balance to me is a journey #leadlap
Q1: In order to Balance LAP (be a balanced pirate), we need to recognize signs of imbalance. What are your “tells” that indicate you are out of balance? #LeadLAP
A1: My "tells" occur when I am drinking more coffee, feel disconnected with extended family, my girls note they miss me, and when I feel constantly overwhelmed and unable to be totally present in any space in life. #LeadLAP
Jumping from one awesome chat to another! Good morning #LEADlap. I’m an AP at a Spanish Immersion Elem in KY. I’m learning tons this morning excited for more!!!
Q1: In order to Balance LAP (be a balanced pirate), we need to recognize signs of imbalance. What are your “tells” that indicate you are out of balance? #LeadLAP
I jumped the gun and didn’t answer! Balance to me is finding that “just right” between work, family and friends. It’s a constant work in progress! #leadlap
Q1: In order to Balance LAP (be a balanced pirate), we need to recognize signs of imbalance. What are your “tells” that indicate you are out of balance? #LeadLAP
A: My "tells" that I am out of balance are when I feel overwhelmed and down that I am not getting enough done. Also, when there is a sunset and I miss out. #LeadLAP
Good morning! Darren Cain here from Chaska, MN. Secondary math teacher for 24 years, aspiring administrator finishing my admin degree in a few months! #LeadLAP
A1: My "tell" is when I stop singing and dancing in the kitchen. Or when I consider withdrawing from family, friends and the things that bring me joy. #LeadLAP
A1: I can tell I'm imbalanced by how I feel driving home from school, by how quickly I fall asleep at night, and by how productive I am at home (energy level, etc) #LeadLAP
A1: My tells of being out of balance other than fatigue are times when I realize an entire day went by without me really getting to visit with my fam. Luckily we go to the same school (Hubs is tech dir.), so I am usually able to balance both. #LeadLAP
Q1: In order to Balance LAP (be a balanced pirate), we need to recognize signs of imbalance. What are your “tells” that indicate you are out of balance? #LeadLAP
A1 Gaining balance- Be present in the moment. When at school focus at school. When with your family and friends focus on your family and friends. Cherish the time/moments that you have in each situation. #LEADlap
A1) Signs I'm out of balance - the feeling of "mom guilt," or on the opposite end, waking up in the middle of the night knowing I should be doing something for school! #LeadLAP
Q1: In order to Balance LAP (be a balanced pirate), we need to recognize signs of imbalance. What are your “tells” that indicate you are out of balance? #LeadLAP
Good morning #LeadLAP friends! Lena Marie, HS AP from MA joining. To me, one word to describe BALANCE is HARMONY. All aspects of my life need to compliment each other and sometimes one area gets more focus but it all balances in the end!
Q1: In order to Balance LAP (be a balanced pirate), we need to recognize signs of imbalance. What are your “tells” that indicate you are out of balance? #LeadLAP
A1: When I'm not able to:
- enjoy time with my wife
- enjoy time with my kids
- enjoy the work before me
- enjoy the experience of tweeting, blogging, connecting...
I'm not balancing my work and personal life well. #LeadLAP
Trevor. Arts and Literacy teacher from NJ. Helping all students to have meaningful, relevant arts education which launches their thinking and empowers their voice. #LeadLAP
A1: noticing that too many things are not getting complicated is a way for me to tell I’m off balance.
This is when it’s time to PRIORITIZE my actions
#LeadLAP
A1 for me I know that get short and irritable over simple things. For others I notice when my colleagues are more reserved than normal and act frazzled. #LeadLAP
A1: I know I'm out of balance when I have to eat McDonald's more than once a week. It's a good indicator that I'm tired, disorganized, and behind on everything. #LeadLAP
A1- I can tell I’m becoming out of balance when my priority to do list isn’t crystal clear. Usually goes hand in hand with with not getting enough sleep! #LeadLAP
A1: I’m late so Shelly here from rural KS. Tells of imbalance- I withdraw to my own world, tend to forget simple things & am very hard/ unforgiving of my tasks #leadlap
A1: When every little thing stresses me out, I know I'm out of balance; when I stop doing some basic healthy habits; when I feel like I can't catch up on sleep no matter what I do... #LeadLAP
Q1: In order to Balance LAP (be a balanced pirate), we need to recognize signs of imbalance. What are your “tells” that indicate you are out of balance? #LeadLAP
A1: I know I am imbalanced when I feel my time has been spent way too much in the office. I know when this happens that my focus has shifted and when this happens, I get up and run out of the office and back into the classroom with my crew. I get my compass back on track #leadlap
A1. My energy level is a great sign of imbalance. If I don’t feel rested and energized I know I’m overdoing it somewhere or not getting enough sleep. Imbalance breeds difficulty focusing and irritability and anxiety. Not good. #leadlap
Amanda, jumped the gun on the intro. Balance to me means realizing I can't do everything alone & there will ALWAYS be a to do list, but prioritizing w/ a team based on our vision & mission while at work and remembering I have a family who needs me present as well. #LeadLAP
A1. Out of balance to me means not learning, unhealthy relationships, unproductive work. When serving as a principal or teacher it meant the students were not succeeding, nor the teachers. #leadlap
I do the same! When I was pregnant with my first kiddo, my HS Ss commented on how I was not cranky like their moms were. I told them my family would disagree. :) #LeadLAP
A1: Signs of imbalance in my life are needs for caffeine, lack of spiritual growth, lack of exercise, and honest dialogue from my spouse and children. #LeadLAP
A1 When I have trouble sleeping; when my mind is working on overdrive; if I have a hard time prioritizing family activities or if I have less patience; I know I need to reassess things in life. My balance is out of whack. I do have one friend who is good at noticing. #LeadLAP
Q1: In order to Balance LAP (be a balanced pirate), we need to recognize signs of imbalance. What are your “tells” that indicate you are out of balance? #LeadLAP
A1: When the list/hole of things to do keeps getting bigger and it's harder to climb out. When energy is low to blog and run to twitter for inspiration. #LeadLAP
Q1: In order to Balance LAP (be a balanced pirate), we need to recognize signs of imbalance. What are your “tells” that indicate you are out of balance? #LeadLAP
A1: When there is a loss of joy - headaches, sleeplessness If I'm awake at 2 am and feel anxious there is a loss of balance. I worry that it's just part of the job. #atleastonceaweek#LEADlap
Thanks! That wouldn't have even been a consideration with all that I have on my plate without the #RunLAP crew inspiration. #LeadLAP So crazy to think of how far the journey has come in one year!
A1. When I am out of balance, my environment reflects this. My organized chaos is just chaos. I also realize I shut myself in...less S time less T time is bad news for me. #LeadLAP
Administrators have a lot to deal with that most teachers do not understand or appreciate. To get you back in balance: My Coping Strategies page https://t.co/23le1FqNbn#LeadLAP
So glad #LeadLAP is addressing such an important topic today! It hurts my heart to read everyone's "tells" for being out of balance. Grateful that we are setting aside time to talk about pursuing balance. Thank you @SarahSajohnson and @PrincipalJ
@bjohnsonEDU YOU ARE AWESOME!!! Thank you for following me, so now I can follow you! I have learned so much for you in a matter of minutes! I just love the power of our #PLN#LeadLap#LeadUpChat
A1: Out of balance means being tired (physically, emotionally, or both) above all else. Might be gettingthings done, but I don’t feel powerful or effective. #LeadLAP
A1 When I find one day ‘runs’ into the next and there is no time to reflect or reorganize or refocus to prepare for the next. And when I am too exhausted to do a little #Read4Fun before calling it a night! #LeadLAP
A1 Out of balance is also a reflection of what the world is "messaging". Are we seeing trust, relationship building, and tolerance; or distrust, distain for our citizens, and citizens of other nations? What are our students seeing each day? #leadlap
A1: One signal for me is when I lean more toward my task-oriented nature. I’m balanced when I can leave my office and connect with others. Also, the quality of my lunch is a great measure too. #LeadLAP
#leadlap A1: Out of balance personally when I have less patience. Out of balance in my teaching when I see kids leaving the room without a sound - no chatter about what we've just done.
So much this! When I start to worry that an e-mail will be read with the worst perspective or a conversation will leave the other person angry at me #LeadLAP
A1: This is my greatest challenge in teaching... and life. My “fall asleep” ritual is “Roses & Thorns.” I contemplate on 3 successes that day & 3 no-so-successful moments. When ALL the successes are school-related (not family/community/personal), I need rebalanced. #LeadLAP
So glad #LeadLAP is addressing such an important topic today! It hurts my heart to read everyone's "tells" for being out of balance. Grateful that we are setting aside time to talk about pursuing balance. Thank you @SarahSajohnson and @PrincipalJ
A1: One sign I'm out of balance is when I feel a pattern of my day running me. As admin, we all have those wacky days, but when it is becoming consistent, I realize I need to get control. #LeadLAP
A1: I feel unbalanced when I’m not making time to do all the things I ❤️ that make me ME bc I’m dedicating too much energy to work projects. Disconnecting to reconnect to ourselves is probably the most important thing we can do!!! 😊🎉#leadLAP
A1: When I find myself focusing on the negative instead of the positive. When I have an awesome idea & I let other things get in the way of executing it. I promised to ramp it up for the next few months though!!! #leadlap
I'm about 50 pages in and it's challenging my thinking about what we can do to create moments for staff and for our learners in our buildings. #LeadLAP
A1: my mood, patience levels, and mindset help indicate for me that I’m off balance. Also the knots I’m my shoulders where I hold all my stress. My kids help tell me when I am losing my patience and often ask me if I worked out today when my patience is thin. #LeadLAP
Q1: In order to Balance LAP (be a balanced pirate), we need to recognize signs of imbalance. What are your “tells” that indicate you are out of balance? #LeadLAP
A1: A supervisor shared an article with me one when I was stressed about balancing family and work. I highly recommend it and reread it from time to time. https://t.co/PTn2okQUhL#LeadLAP
A1 When my Job is taking more energy than my WORK. When I am focusing on the things that don’t matter instead of things that do matter. WORK reflects my heart, the JOB reflects superficial metrics imposed by someone, somewhere. #LeadLAP
Yes, but don't you just hate it? You might be driving home and realize, "if I was more in balance I would find a creative solution to all of this rather than let it bog me down." #leadLap
SO EASY! @kim_laughlin & I were just talking about this yesterday. That is such a balance I have to watch - remember & celebrate those small wins but NEVER get comfortable amongst them. #LeadLAP
Oh Brenda! I hope there's someone you can find to eat with, maybe even some students during diff times? Lunch always rejuvenates me with the right people/conversations. #LEADlap
Getting out into the school is important. I actually set an alarm when I have tasks at my desk to do that tells me to get up and go every hour. Or else I fall into that trap too. #LeadLAP
A2: For the first time, I am struggling maintaining balance with my position. Through a focus on reclaiming much of my personal and professional life, I have lost intense focus and reduced the insane hours I used to devote to my position. #Leadlap
A1: My tells: when I feel tired despite rest, have a negative mindset, find myself in my office too long, am quieter than usual, forget to smile, forget to greet passerbys #LeadLAP
A1. When I don’t get enough sleep and find it challenging to wake up for my early morning me time I know I am out of balance. When I use my early morning time to work rather than feed my soul I know I am out of balance. #LeadLAP
This is a great approach for reflection! I enjoy having a "Peak/Pit" conversation with my family at dinner--we all reflect on our day. I use a similar approach with teachers/leaders but add "Possible Solution" as in--share the pit with a possible solution. #LeadLAP
A2: This week my food choices were out of balance- I didn't make time to meal prep, so I made unhealthy choices too many times. I've scheduled in meal prep time this weekend! #LeadLAP
A2 I struggle with shutting down and making time for myself. I feel guilty to often for wanting to do things for me and often put myself dead last #Leadlap
A1 When my Job is taking more energy than my WORK. When I am focusing on the things that don’t matter instead of things that do matter. WORK reflects my heart, the JOB reflects superficial metrics imposed by someone, somewhere. #LeadLAP
A2: My struggle is nights. Leaving work and getting home in enough time to sit down and have dinner with my family. Not only am I often staying late but then it seems there’s always something going on and we are all on the go. #leadlap
One reason why educators start to feel burn out. The joy and feeling that you're making a difference in lives starts to fade and the feeling of an overflowing plate is ever present. Important to celebrate all of the little wins in the journey! #LeadLAP
A2: I don't FEEL unbalanced in any area but I was at school til 11pm last night so I know I have plenty of room for growth. However, I was able to sub in a class yesterday and loved that time with the kids but my responsibilities didn't end. #leadlap
A2: in the classroom - grading and feedback - I feel like I'm always underwater, at home - keeping up with cleaning, laundry, meals vs. quality time with my husband and kids #LeadLAP
A2: Work/Home balance... sometimes even with social media. I took a break over the most vacation in order to really focus on quality time with my loved ones. #LeadLAP
A2: My current status is the most balanced I've ever been in the role of an administrator, but it has come with a lot of intentional effort and not without some sacrifices. #Leadlap
A2: I feel most imbalanced in finding time for myself. I give so much to my job, my family, and others that I forget about me. I am trying to get more me time to connect with others and learn as well as pray and write more. My New Year Goal! #LeadLAP
A1: When things are unbalanced, the day leaves me emotionally exhausted and angry- ready to give up. On the other hand, a balanced day is so energizing and I can hardly contain my excitement and that influences my Ss! #LeadLAP
A2: I don't take care of things that don't interest me. Sadly that is car repair, house cleaning, checking the mail, etc. Then that all comes back to bite me, and I get stressed out and ticked off at my own neglect, and I'm broke : ) #LeadLAP
A2: The work/home balance, as most of us do. I've been spending time each night planning out the next day so I can add in my personal goals through out the day. #LeadLAP
A2: This May sound silly but I’m being serious when I say Laundry! I can’t seem to get to it-it just piles up. I’m asking for the kids to help but they too are so busy with basketball & band. This season is really hard for me to find time to do laundry! Snow days help! #LeadLAP
A2: Balancing professional and personal obligations have been a challenge. I’m passionate about my work. It’s difficult for me not to put my laptop down. Must answer one...more...email! #LEADLap
A2. I have had to make a commitment to my exercise and running regardless of my work schedule. I’m committed to getting it in because I am a better person and even better leader when I run! #leadlap
A2. The balance that I struggle with with is when I come home to turn work off. I am constantly thinking of new things to do at school, taking away family time. #leadlap
Q2: Fitness and mindfulness have completely fallen by the wayside. I work from the time I get up till I go to bed. Even my reading material is work related. #leadlap
A2: It should be faith, family, career- in that order. Many days/nights faith and family take a backseat. And I know fitness should fit in but 😫#LEADLap
A2: I lack balance in family time sometimes, but we do a lot of the school events together; personal time can be a struggle-I need me time daily; time and motivation to grade research papers is always out of balance for me. :) #LeadLAP
A2: balancing the dual personality @ work as I am both Supt & HS Prin;
It’s not ok right now. Finding time for life beyond the desks, hallways & events- I LOVE my work but it can’t be my whole life. #LeadLAP
A1. Interesting point. There is a theory that balance should not be the goal, because situations are different, sometimes we lean one way because issues have to be addressed, and other times the scale is imbalanced the other way. #LeadLAP
A1: A supervisor shared an article with me one when I was stressed about balancing family and work. I highly recommend it and reread it from time to time. https://t.co/PTn2okQUhL#LeadLAP
A2: Transitioning from 1st to 2nd semester...all new kiddos is a huge stress with all the other things to balance...lead position, family, writing. Wrote a post about how I was feeling last night. https://t.co/FVo7L3mDRJ#leadlap
#LeadLAP A2: Finding time to explore new tech tools and read a few books. Need to sometimes consciously carve out "me time" so that I can be mentally recharged to so some extra personal PD.
A1: I generally feel like I’ve got a handle on mastering a busy schedule, but there are times when it gets a bit overwhelming and I need to write down what needs to be done and prioritize to reset. #leadlap
Guys!!! Stop tempting me to start reading it today. :) I want to spend time with my family before being gone for a few days. And I know if I start, I won't be able to put it down. :) #LeadLAP
In reply to
@me1odystacy, @andreakornowski, @BethHouf
A2,Feel fortunate that I’ve been able to clearly articulate my goals, my true work, what’s matters to me. This has allowed me to better navigate my days which brings balance. Has taken years to achieve but I’m there. Grateful. #LeadLAP
A2: My self care is WAY off balance. I'm in that constant state of too tired to exercise, too blah from not exercising and eating fast meals over healthy. #LeadLAP
A2: Balance and Prioritizing are current conflicting struggles. I am so passionate about all that I have to balance. I have let go of obligations / committees that don't "Feed the Dog". #energybus That alone really helped. #LeadLAP
A2: Balancing a new little one at home (my first) and my kids at school. Also leaving school at school so my family gets the best, not the rest, of me. #LeadLap
A2 biggest struggle in balance is my own health. I take care of my kids at home and school. Then use remaining time to get better as a professional. #LeadLAP
A2: My husband and I are about to become foster parents and I have to be ok with knowing I will have to miss some work for our kiddo and adjust how I work at home so we have time together. #LeadLAP
A2. Last week my husband had a heart attack, suddenly, when a life changing incident happens your balance turns upside down and you slowly work toward normalcy again. #leadlap
A2: My biggest struggle is the need to remove items from a list instead of taking the time to cherish the opportunity and find the joy in the process of the task. #LeadLAP
A2: Time management. Not doing all of the things that are super important to me. My work is my passion & I just need to get into more classrooms to get fired up & rejuvenated again! We've got this! #LeadLAP
Good Morning I’m Jazmine Frias, Vice Principal at @Pioneer_Drive and proud member of #TeamBCSD joining in this morning. I didn’t have a chance to introduce myself earlier. #LeadLAP
I make sure I turn off, leave the echo-chamber of the twitter feed/PLN, and effect balance for myself and loved ones. I also make sure I pursue educational advocacy on a broader scale. By exposing fraudulent admins and hoaxes. It gets my mind off work. #leadlap
I’m doing much better with my health and wellness in this new year! Balance is key and working out and diet helps with energy! You should join our #fitnessedu chat at 7pm ESt in Sunday’s! #LeadLAP
A1 & A2: I feel like all the little things I should be doing are GIGANTIC issues. Then I feel like my professional life is going down, and my health goes too! #everythingisconnected#LeadLAP
I get overwhelmed by making a plan for WHAT to prep. My health journey over the past 6 months has been going amazing. Except for the preplanning & prepping of food. #LeadLAP
A2 Hard to maintain balance and take time to do the things I really love like playing the piano, art, etc. So important to make time for personal passions! #LEADlap
A2: work vs family and personal care (sleep, exercise, eating healthy). I wish I could say cleaning my house, but that will never be high on my list of priorities no matter how balanced I’m feeling ;) #LEADLap
A2: Because I also care for my mom, I don't have a lot of time that is for me & about me. That's one of the reasons I love my Twitter chats. Lately, I haven't even had time for these. I tell myself that this too shall pass & my heart will be broken, so hang in there! #LeadLAP
A2. This has been the week from hell. Just trying to balance personal and professional. Currently there are no winners. But, there is always next week. #leadlap
My 2018 struggle is balancing fitness with family and career. I am going to compete in a ultra trail run race this year and well, 50miles ain't no joke #LeadLAP
A2: All of the above 🤣. I have taken on much responsibility recently professionally. I am trying to frame it with the mindset that busy times are just “seasons” in life- What can I learn from it? In what way will I celebrate/reward myself when the season passes? #LeadLAP
A3: Personal life focus has been time with my young daughters and husband, spiritual growth, and a running streak that keeps me balanced. Day 1283 and thankful for each mile. #LeadLAP#BalanceLAP#RunLap
A2 cont: I am not taking care of myself like I should. Haven't been exercising and I feel it with lack of energy, mood, feeling down etc. It effects so much. #leadlap
A1. In some cases it’s the amount of clutter on my desk at day’s end or the number of notifications on my phone not responded to. Sometimes it’s the lack of gym log-in’s. In many cases it’s the urgency teachers have when they see me and want to collaborate. #LeadLAP
A2: I'm struggling with expectations for myself. I jump right into projects & think I can do it all today. I have to slow down & remember I can't do everything. Just started reaching out for help this week. #LeadLAP
I’m convinced that many educators neglect their wellness because they believe they are sacrificing for the children. Odd thing is some corporate America companies have gyms on site so you can work out at work and encourage it. Why not us? Dreaming...#LeadLAP
A2: Making time for a healthy lifestyle. I give my all, but I need to make time to eat healthy and work out. It just makes me feel better in all that I do! #LeadLAP
I have struggled with that in the past too. I’m doing the #arbonne30 day challenge and it’s nice because they provide you with a grocery list and crock pot dinners. As a single mom with 2 kids one dinner lasts a few days so that’s nice! #LeadLAP#fitnessedu
I'm so tired of fast meals, yesterday I caught myself saying "ugh, I can't see another French fry" and those are my favorite snacks of all times. You KNOW it's bad! #LeadLAP
A2: Time and exercise. I am so committed to my own PD and get really hyper focused, then realize the gym has closed. Plus a general habit of tak8ng on too many things at one time, so naturally there is an imbalance 😕#LeadLAP
I limit my social media to help maintain family/work balance. It's easy to get pulled away with all of the fabulous ed chats. My Twitter usage is early Saturday mornings! It helps to pull back where you can. #LeadLAP
A2 I don’t strive for balance, so it’s not a struggle. At the end of the day, am I satisfied with the choices I made? Did I do son meaningful? Was I the person I want to be? If not, then what can I change? #LeadLap
A2 Good morning! (always a challenge to jump in this chat!:) A2 So I think balancing when & how to invest in what inspires me to be great professionally with being great for my family can be hard. They certainly cross over, but sometimes I struggle. #LeadLAP
OMG...I teach Family and Consumer Sciences....So I buy milk at home because I thought I needed it but turns out it was at school that I needed it... #LeadLAP
A2: Can’t seem to get time management down. Not during the actual school day, but after school when there are events I want/need to attend, but have a family at home. #LeadLAP
A2 I don’t strive for balance, so it’s not a struggle. At the end of the day, am I satisfied with the choices I made? Did I do son meaningful? Was I the person I want to be? If not, then what can I change? #LeadLap
A2: I struggle to find enough time to do all the projects I’d like to get done in 1 day. It can be challenging to close my office door to do work since the office is a happening place. I’ve found hide out spots on campus to complete quick tasks😜. #leadLAP
A2: Deep Q. I look at balance not as a destination but as a journey. I continually am reaching for more balance in ALL areas of everything. Confident but never comfortable. Leadership is a constant balancing act. #LeadLAP
I need to find my desk at HOME! That's my happy place but currently can hardly see it under the clutter. My dining room table isn't any better. I'm starting to feel more unbalanced lol #LeadLAP#thesearemyconfessions
A3. I prioritize my health. I make it to the gym now 5 days a week. I wish I prioritized social aspects more. Just going out for drinks with friends. That is what tenda to be cut first. #LeadLAP
A3) My personal life focus for balance - embrace the crazy. I think balance works in stages in our life. My current stage is assistant principal and mom of 3 kids under 5. My goal - enjoy the heck out of it! #LeadLAP
A3: I will always make time for my niece, nephew and little sisters. They fill my heart every time I see or talk to them. If they ask for something, I drop everything and do it. #familyfirst#LeadLAP
A3: Everyone has their own way of meditating or pondering. I have established a morning routine that helps me stay balanced. When I fail to start my day this way, I notice a difference. #LeadLAP
A3: We have set family vacations that won't be interrupted. Beach sunsets are a priority. I will drop what I am doing at work to see sunsets. I prioritize getting to coach my own kids. #LeadLAP
A3: Thanks to the #runlap crew I've prioritized my workouts. Wish I could prioritize more time for reading, reflecting and blogging. My struggle is I'm out of time. Need to make some permanent adjustments. #LeadLAP
A3: I prioritize time with my wife but not the extended family. I am ok with that as I am putting what is most important first. Wife and time doing fun things and then School. What time is left might need to be just for me some of the time. #leadlap
A3: My health- exercising and eating right; my writing; my family & friends - some weeks are better than others for each of these, which is a reality. Every day cannot be a perfect "balance" of everything. #LeadLAP
A3: last semester I prioritized my health and workouts as I was training for a half marathon. After the race that totally stopped. I need to schedule my workouts again - they really helped with my stress levels and sanity! #LeadLAP
A3 this year I want to give each of my children a set amount of uninterrupted time each day. Where it is just me and them. I also want read each night. #LeadLAP
A2:All of them?! This year I'm not only ITS for my HS, but also teaching a student tech leadership class. It is proving to be difficult to get it all done. & I've added a few other things on my plate to make me better. Also --> 3 kids in multiple activities & a husband!
#leadlap
A3: Singing with my band. That energizes me like no other. The louder and more involved the audience, the more energy I have. When we're too busy to have practice or a gig, I crave it's absence. #LeadLAP
A3: Reading, either the books I am doing for my reading challenge, or some political news. Do that every morning, although prayer and Bible reading would probably be better TBH. #LeadLAP
A2: Planning for future can be overwhelming while trying to be great at the current school year! #LeadLAP@MapleWarriors is opening in the fall w/ combination of new staff, Ss, & grade levels...& opening multiage co-teaching classrooms, & $ HUGE renovation. #JoinTogetherJanuary
A3: Husband and children are number one! Always. No competition. If work is negatively impacting them, hit the brakes and work out a solution immediately #LeadLAP
A3: This year I've really focused on limiting school work at home. Now, I don't know what to do with myself in the evenings & weekends. I need a hobby. #leadlap
A3. I love running and the thinking time it allows. Just need to figure out how to capture some of those fleeting ideas that pop into my brain during the run. #LeadLAP
A2. I struggle to maintain balance between my personal and professional projects. I have so many work things on the go and things to accomplish that sometimes my personal passion projects don’t get as much attention. I am working on that balance. #LeadLAP
A3: Time @ home to have a CLEAN pile of laundry, getting time for hugs @ home/ school, spending time farming or with the cattle (I know my rural roots are showing). I’d really like to just have a little in my cup left at the end of our days #LeadLAP
A3 I prioritize family time now more than ever with a grandson in our school I have grown to appreciate every minute I get with him to see him grow. I also prioritize time to read and chat as learning is a flame that burns hot for me each day. #Leadlap
A3: Quality time with my husband and kids truly keep me balanced. Additionally, rest & healthy lifestyle help to keep me on my A-game both at work and at home. #LeadLAP
A3: I wish, and now have a plan to, get back to running. It’s a quiet, healthy time for reflection w/o distraction. Also time for reading my bible. Instead of making it a, I’ll try to make time”- starting my day with it. #LeadLAP
A3: FAMILY- dates with my wife, playtime with my kids... I HAVE TO DO THESE MORE! I can’t let my profession be my family, because if I do, when I come home I won’t have much. #LeadLAP
A3: Exercise is my saving grace. I don’t miss a day of running. Well, at least I haven’t in 964 days. 😉 Also, appreciating small moments of peace and using them to breathe and regroup....taking in sunrises and sunsets do this for me. #LeadLAP#balanceLAP
A3. While my three sons were quickly growing into young men I wish I would have prioritized them more rather than my career. Life sure goes by in a blink. #leadLAP
A3. I love to write so I’m capturing that time back more and more. I love listening to music of all kinds and sometimes silent spaces are deafening. So definitely more tunes. Mostly I wish to prioritize creating memorable experiences via travel with my wife. #Leadlap
A2: feel pretty balanced right now but we just came off of holiday break. I would say an area is ensuring Im listening to my staff and attempting to implement proper supports.
#leadlap
A4: One critically important personal passion is running. Each day, I run without fail. Some days it is 1 mile, and twice 26.2. It is a priority and everyone in my circle just knows this. #Leadlap
Why do we say BUT? I do it too... can you imagine life without our “but”? We must stop doing this to ourselves. No apologies. No guilt! We got this! 🙌👊💥 #LeadLAP@MRHS_Evans
A2: Can’t seem to get time management down. Not during the actual school day, but after school when there are events I want/need to attend, but have a family at home. #LeadLAP
A3: I am so much better about putting special time on my calendar to be with my kids. My daughter and I enjoy art classes and concerts together, and my son is a foodie and likes to try new restaurants. #MakeItHappen#LeadLAP
A3: We’ve becomes so digitally dependent that my spouse and I go on date nights every weekend without our phones. After 11 years, we’ve begun engaging in robust conversations again. A real game changer. #LEADLap
A3: I make sure that when I get home everyday I make time playing with my young kids. They need to know that no matter how busy I am, they come first. #LeadLAP
A3: Having a lake home really helps. Taking a "Forrest Bath" often clears the mind and is a great reset. Lake life is simple: No Tv, internet, neighbors. Just birds and my snoring hubby. :) #LeadLAP
A4: Anything I'm passionate about and feel like I lose balance I make sure to schedule it in. Probably not a great sign - BUT it totally works for me! #LeadLAP
Hello, #LeadLAP. Balance in one word= thoughtful. Have to really think about what I choose to do. That’s why my #oneword this year is Core (comes from same word as “heart”). What is at the core of why I’m doing anything. 🤔
How I stopped fast food: Started a 90 day challenge where I chose 3 of 5 pledges to follow. Those pledges? No white stuff (sugar or flour), no fried foods, and no sweet drinks. I've stuck to them for 7 months. #LeadLAP
A3: I am much better at this than I have been in the past. For me it was always all work, no play. So I’ve made sure to carve out time for the kids and spend more time with them in this new year. Ex. My daughter wanted to decorate the Christmas tree for Valentines! #LeadLAP
A4: Family. I always make time to talk with them, at dinner, in the car, after wife gets home, just so we don’t lose track of each other. Also call my mom every other day to check up on her. #LeadLAP
A4: Have developed a passion for running. Started with a winter running series last year and now a half-marathon is on the calendar for May. Key is to schedule the time and make it a priority. #leadlap
I am passionate about volunteering and I found myself in a lull in 2017. So, I reached out to an organization that I believed in to see how I could help. We all give back as educators, but sometimes you need to give back in another way. #LeadLAP
A4: Personal passion is interaction with my students’families. #Homevisits are definitely helping me to engage with families outside of school #LeadLAP
A4: I leave an hour every day for "me stuff." & stick to it (the to do list doesn't not need to be finished). Read, Netflix, Paint, Soak in the Tub #leadlap
Q2: For home, cleaning and cooking. For school, lesson planning and grading. I constantly work on school at home to keep up and it is wrecking me. #LeadLAP
A3: I've been prioritizing saying no when I feel I need to recharge. Sometimes I have to say no to more sleep so I can workout or say no to something I really want to do so that I can be present for something else.
#LeadLAP
A4: I love to sing and write. Singing is a part of each of my days, most often as a result of what someone has just said sparking a lyric. There is always time to sing. Yes, @Joe_Sanfelippo there is. Writing is something I schedule because I neglected it for too long. #Leadlap
A3: Rest. I like to think that I can push through without any limits, but I can't.
I love this reminder I came across a while back:
Stress + rest = growth
How will you make sure you get enough rest to allow you to grow? #TeacherMyth#TLAP#LeadUpChat#BookSnaps#LeadLAP
A4: I am passionate about volunteering and I found myself in a lull in 2017. So, I reached out to an organization that I believed in to see how I could help. We all give back as educators, but sometimes you need to give back in another way. #LeadLAP
A3: I ❤️ the little notes left by admin when least expected after a quick pop in that I don’t even notice. They are helpful and usually come when needed most. #leadupchat
A4 I would be lost without music and dancing so once a week I give myself the gift of going to Zumba and recently sharing this passion at school has impacted relationships with colleagues!:) #LeadLAP
A3: My love language is quality time. One family goal we have this year is to eat together at least 3 times a week. My mind slows down when I'm eating w/ my family... definitely helps me remember what's really important. #LeadLAP
Q4. I schedule EVERYTHING. I am mindful not to over promise or extend myself. If I cannot be the best version of me, then I cannot help anyone to the best of my ability. I am happiest when I am balanced and well rounded. #LeadLAP
A4: Performing on stage (singing), watching my 11yo play baseball and basketball (I love sports so watching a passionate kid play hard and have fun rocks), reading & writing my blog. Love those things. #LeadLAP
A4. Watching the sunset each day is one of my passions. It is so calming, never the same two days in a row and even more beautiful with the magnificent colors in the clouds after it has set. #leadLAP
A4: I love to work out, read, write, research, create plans and processes for change implementation. I also love spending time with my kids. I’ve learned to prioritize my deadline items and use my time and energy more efficiently and effectively these past 9 months. #LeadLAP
A3: Meaningful engagement at work helps to center me and spark positive dinner conversations about how our day went. This creates a great beginning to family time. #leadlap
Q4. I love working out, staying healthy, date nights & girls night. I’m up at 4:00 to the gym, I do all my meal prep on Sunday for a healthy week. I always have date nights on Sat. & Girls nights I just sprinkle in, but when I have them I’m all in (tech down!) #LeadLAP
A4: My personal passions are writing, traveling, eating (foodie 🚨 alert), reading, and TV/film (guilty 👀). I seem to always prioritizing eating 😂 but I am still working on the others. Ideas? #LeadLAP
A1: Imbalance for me feels like I’m running at full strength with no purpose or little direction. These are the best times to ask myself Why? and to refocus. #LeadLAP
A3: Prioritizing time with my family making time to exercise is important to my balance. Also, need more quick get-aways...especially to see the ocean. The crashing waves, smells, and sounds centers me. So peaceful. #leadlap
A4: might be ridiculous but getting a cat hat I love an absurd amount has led me to Institute “cat time”. It’s an hour in the morning, every morning, I spend with cat, coffee, and a book. #LEADLap
A4. Writing is my personal passion. I make time for it but not as much as I’d like. I’m finishing up my first book that I’m self publishing and I’m so excited! I’m also passionate about my podcast #leadershipwithlatoya#LeadLAP
A4. Writing and any projects related to kindness are my passion and what energize me. I try to dedicate some time every week to dedicate towards growing as a writer and to build various collaborations and projects that have impact. It drives me daily. #LeadLAP
A4: Reading, writing, traveling, music, friends/family time, sunsets, walks - I schedule as much of this as I can (I have a cousin who teases me for having to book time w/ me weeks in advance!) #LeadLAP#whatmattersgetsscheduled
A4 #LeadLAP Writing: more specifically, thinking and working things through by using the writing process, and enjoying sharing the outcome. Recognising the value in that makes it imperative, regardless of other pressures on time.
A4: Maybe that's where I'm lacking, but it's never felt that way. My passions are family, friends, and school. Don't really do much outside of that. Maybe that's a good thing. Happy with what I'm doing. #LeadLAP
A4: I love music🎶 (easy to enjoy at home AND school - hence, super fun mrng dance parties w my #TMGenius crew), cooking (try to make time on the wknd to cook for my fam😍), & running (getting back into that after a too-long hiatus #RunLAP) oh, & nerdy jokes🤓 #LeadLAP
A4: Reading! Working out!
I make myself do it first thing in AM or when I get home from work. Reading usually happens daily once kids are in bed. Both make me better all around. #readersareleaders :)
#LeadLAP
A5: Professional goals include reading for learning, blogging, building my PLN, completing a book with @JessicaCabeen and @PrincipalJ, and increasing leadership through coursework. Again, it must be scheduled. I designate a time after my girls are in bed and engage! #Leadlap
A4: I’ve been reflecting on this much lately; I’ve come to the conclusion that I don’t have any hobbies & I’m sure I need one! I’ve been a learner, leader & doer my whole life, that’s what I enjoy. If I had any time I’m sure I’d like to do something “more” 😱 #LeadLAP
Q3. Q3. My kids & husband are #1, in theory. I try to be intentionally present with them. Hubby is very forgiving & plan date nights w/ no phones. Fitness will be a new struggle, but I have the support and I told the Ss for additional pressure...I mean support. #LeadLAP
A4: Golf, writing music, blogging, watching sports! I find time by doing my things at night after I spend time with my family and they are in bed. 9:30-11pm, I try to focus on me and the rest of the time on others #LeadLAP

A5: I keep a leadership journal to reflect on my professional goals. I check in with mentors as I look ahead. I also mentor aspiring leaders to pay it forward. #LeadLAP

A5: I want to write more. So I started a blog this year...and have the support of #blogLAP people! And eventually I want to write a book...good thing I know some publishers! Always have support! #LeadLAP
A4: My personal passion is my family. I am so lucky to have 3 healthy grandparents!! I need to make more time for them. My oldest daughter started college this year. We talk often. Make dinner for family. Sit down together. #ssdpride#warriorscreate#LeadLAP#JoinTogetherJanuary

A2: Nothing like a little health scare in a pregnancy to put things into priority. Learning to take care of myself and to focus on what I’m doing. One thing at a time. #LeadLAP
A4: Next to family time, my personal passions are music and church. I set aside Sunday for those passions. No work. No work related tech. No work related reading. Just time to focus on my personal passions. #LeadLAP
A5: I accomplish more when I start each day reviewing my professional goals and end my day with a "debrief" to reflect and plan for the next day. #leadlap

A4: I love to write, read, find new restaurants to eat at, bake, travel. I've been scheduling writing and reading time into my weeks. Should think about how to prioritize other passions too. #leadlap
A4. I have to say..I’m almost pretty passionate about educator wellness-physical, mental, and spiritual. I think this is a huge issue that goes unnoticed and unaddressed. It’s important. #LeadLAP
A4: Long walks with the spouse and dogs are incredibly relaxing. Additionally, meditation has been pivotal in finding more balance in life. Take the time and try it out! #LEADLap
A4: Oh and watching sports...During the school year I try to give myself time to at least watch a period or two of the Niners/Sharks/Cardinal/Giants when they are playing. #LeadLAP
A4. Reading is a passion! Jigsaw puzzles and crocheting are things I love but I have not had much time for either. Need to prioritize time to include them again as I find both activities to be relaxing. #LeadLAP
A3: TRAVEL!!! I was a career switcher from the corporate field & my Teacher-Husband is retired Navy. We envisioned our summers as teachers being filled with travel, but life gets busy... I need to revisit that 🤔. #LeadLAP
A5: Stay in front of our school community with great communication. I love to write so I make time weekly to write communication but also to journal. #LeadLAP

A2: There are things I can get behind on and others such as: personal connections, relationships, communication and support that I can’t afford to get behind in. It’s about prioritizing when things get overwhelming or tough. The rest will get done. #LeadLAP
Sorry! Checking in late. A1: Tightness across my shoulders and in my neck. Needing a good cry (I read somewhere that it's a good way to release tension and stress) #LeadLAP
A5) Professional goals - learn as much as I can about best practices, PBL, and continuous school improvement. I want to be a resource for my teachers, and an instructional leader. #LeadLAP
A5: My professional goal has always been to be the best educator for my crew that I can possibly be. I'm constantly learning through Twitter, books, & always taking risks to move forward on my path to greatness. #LeadLAP
A4: Reading to grow professionally & exercise. This usually happens at early hours, but is a great way to get the blood pumping in the morning. #LeadLAP
A5: I’ve since left the classroom, and it’s been a challenge. I do try to infuse what I found to be successful in the classroom to my job now to support teachers and their practices. I’m slowly finding my own voice within this new work environment. #LEADLap
A5: Working on finishing a graduate program on Leadership & Innovation. Get frustrated with the lack of time for professional reading, blogging, and writing. Would love to write a book on personalizing learning or learner leadership. #LeadLAP
A5: Self-reflection/ improvement is a huge priority for me. I am committed to being the best I can be in whatever I am doing. Currently, as a school admin that mean supporting the needs of my school. I collaborate w/ others, read, and tinker to get better everyday. #LeadLAP
A3: We are fortunate to live in a community with a lot of live theater. I no longer think, maybe some day. Now I buy tickets for the whole family and drag them along :) I’ve only regretted taking my son and his girlfriend to see Dirty Dancing. #LEADLap
“Arting” for any reason is my {side} passion {after educating} ... any arting; always making gifts for friends & family! Giving handmade art gifts fills my bucket & my heart !! #LeadLAP

A5: Professional goals:
*Blog weekly
*Read #DBCBooks & Blogs
*Listen to EDU podcasts
*Participate in book studies
*Write an EDU book to help teachers discover the tools/skills they need and how best to use them
*Present out of state then nationally
I manage most of that. #LeadLAP
A5 Have to continue being a lifelong learner, building relationships, staying healthy and dedicating to family. These goals have to be centered each day, and will improve one's success during the work day. If we are not healthy at home, we will be unhealthy at work. #leadlap
A5: Regular ed chats (#leadupchat and #LeadLAP are favs), getting my masters has been on my list for a while, reading books on education, participating in conferences as a presenter, making connections with other educators daily. #LeadLAP

A5 A professional goal I have this year is to spread the message that passion matters. I carve out time to purposefully share my own & ask colleagues & Ss to share theirs. Edcamp style learning, passion projects, and #geniushour certainly help! #leadlap
A5: To continually get better at my craft, although I know that is more of a vision than a specific goal. I read, I tweet, I Chat, I reflect, I Vox, and I look for new teaching material all the time. #LeadLAP
A4: I am passionate about my family. I make time for them by constantly reminding myself that I only get to have this time with my little ones once... There are no redos with their childhood. Work will always be there. #LEADLAP
A5: I want to grow my efficacy. Right now I am fascinated by school culture and how that impacts learning. Need to order Culturize this weekend. #LeadLAP
A3: There was a time in my life that work came before anything else. It came at a cost to my family, my health and well being. I slip at times but FAMILIA is first, health and well being follow closely. #LeadLAP
A1: When I am feeling balanced, I can handle just about anything! When I am not balanced there is this tight feeling in my stomach that rises during stressful situations. #LeadLAP
A5: Blogging... I love to give hope to others so that they aren’t in it alone! That the impossible started with possible before anyone added the prefix! #LeadLAP#Nan3EDU
A4. Love completing projects with my son that I have put off for decades while I was working. These collected dust in a closet waiting to finally get hung up. #leadLAP
A5: I first do the things I can't do when Ss are gone. Paperwork can happen when Ss aren't in the building. Watching Ss learn can't..so classrooms are my priority. #LeadLAP
A5: I think my biggest professional goal this year has been to try and connect with more coworkers and help them find the same awesomeness and inspirations in education that keep me happy and enthusiastic about teaching #LeadLAP
A6: My position as district webmaster & district communications director take up the bulk of my time, since those duties are on top of my teaching ones, and I have no period in the day dedicated to them, so balancing those is a struggle. #LeadLAP
When I was a Principal, my son and I established a "code phrase" for when he needed mommy time. He would say to me--"It's a Dunkin Donuts Day" and I would know to drop everything and spend some time with him. #LeadLAP
A4. If I know I want to make time for fun then I put it on my calendar. I also take time on the weekends to plan and invest in my passions. It takes quiet time before I start my day. #LEADlap
A3: You can't fill others from an empty bucket. I read quite a bit, mostly for pleasure but also for learning more. I LOVE the twitter chats that validate me, professionally. I don't feel like it's a waste of my time here. #LeadLAP
A6. My positions really dont take that much time. I make them take too much time. Trying real hard to lead by example and at time doo too much. We do it to ourselves sometimes. #leadlap
Q6: Tedious scheduling/paperwork time things are my least favorite, so probably take more time since I'm not as excited or focused on them. #Confession#leadlap
Was a pretty cool experience, actually got to meet @bbray27 in person on the day that I interviewed for a PL coach position later that afternoon. :) #LeadLAP
In reply to
@specialtechie, @APKRentz, @khmmc, @bbray27, @bbray27
A6: To the Ss I am a "mom" - I have food, get out stains & listen to their problems. To the Ts I am a "student" - I am always doing some sort of PD. Not sure what area I want more of... #leadlap
Man, this is a fast moving group woth so much knowledge. For all of you who are retweeting the questions, you are saving me and YOU are the real VIP #Leadlap
A4: I make time for personal passions by scheduling them every week.👍🏼Doing things that make it so you can return to work feeling refreshed (even taking a vacation once in a while) should be as important as our daily work. Energy is everything😊! #leadLAP
A2: I’ve wondered how someone in my PLN has so much time to consult. Turns out he’s (secretly) unemployed, Can’t get work, and is a phony. That’s one way to find balance. Haha #leadlap
A5 My professional goals are to continue learning & growing! I'm completing my Masters in Ed Leadership so a lit review for my AR project is priority one! #leadlap
A5: I think my biggest professional goal this year has been to try and connect with more coworkers and help them find the same awesomeness and inspirations in education that keep me happy and enthusiastic about teaching #LeadLAP
A5: a professional goal that I am beginning to work on Monday is becoming bilingual. Since I teach at a #Spanish immersion school, I want to become a further component of the school. I also want to open up #opportunities to teach other content areas. #LeadLAP
A6: I am lucky enough to work with young adults to help them get jobs! My focus has been on the skills and end result, but I realized this year that I need to make sure their family are coming along right next to us. Families are the key. #LeadLAP
A5 professional goal - sharing, growing, learning from others; finding a method to share with other educators how to develop passions, skills, learning, success in our students 📚💙‼️ #LeadLAP
Words from a wise woman #Leadlap! Our family will always be there through the position shifts. We must be careful about being intentional with those that matter most.
A3: I am so much better about putting special time on my calendar to be with my kids. My daughter and I enjoy art classes and concerts together, and my son is a foodie and likes to try new restaurants. #MakeItHappen#LeadLAP
A6 As a new HS AP the discipline related outbursts can sidetrack the best plans for the day. Working to develop a management plan that provides positive interventions for the Ss as none in place right now. #LeadLAP
A6: Right now leading my new student tech group takes up the most time because it's our first year and its still very new to everyone. Working to increase more time helping specific departments with resources, tools and coaching. #LeadLAP
A6: I control my time. What takes my time is what I let or make take my time. I have been reflecting on how my own inefficiency is a time sucker, not the actual issue I am tackling. Reaching out for advice on problem solving an issue can save time. #LeadLAP
A6) The ol' work/work balance question! Every day is truly unpredictable, which is one of the fun things about administration! I'm always looking to find more time to be in classrooms, one of my favorite things! #leadLAP
A4: Personal passions change depending on the stage of my life! Currently we are in art mode at our home with 2 little girls that help reingnite passion & creativity! I also love researching my family history and learning more about my roots. It strengthens me. #LeadLAP
A6 paper work takes most of my time from creating our intervention lists, to discipline and data collection but I want to make more time to be around teachers and kids as much as humanly possible #Leadlap
A6: Communication takes a ton of my time & figuring out which hat I’m wearing; leading both a district & our HS can do that. I want to increase the time I spend in homes with visits & leading in our community better. #LeadLAP
A6: This is my principal's & my 1st year @ my school. Spending most of my time trying 2 build structures to support a positive & collaborative culture. It's hard work but I know it's worth it. I hope to increase my time in the classroom not just observing but teaching 2! #LEADlap
A6: for both Ts and Ss I try to be a listener and voice of encouragement. I’m still trying to find ways to make all of them feel like their voices are heard, valued, and acted upon in our school community #LEADLap
A5: I am going to start working on my MS in Administration and my admin credential in the fall. I don't know HOW I will pull it off, but I will! #LeadLAP
A4: Learning more about being trauma-informed-I'm reading two amazing books to help me in that area and have a couple of fantastic mentors! Taking care of me-not that tough since we no longer have kids at home. I read quite a bit! #LeadLAP
A6: I tend to come in early & stay late to prep or wrap up the paperwork end of things. But doing that allows me time during the day to get involved with the classrooms. Teachers and students are the passion part of the job. Increase THAT! #LeadLAP
A6: Most time is spent preparing lessons, grading, updating digital resources, signing students up for flex time, and collaborating in meetings. I would love to seek more time just observing teachers and students in classrooms! #LeadLAP
A6: ooohhh... big rocks: preparation of instruction and professional development... not sure i have any little rocks! Being a Digital learning Coach is AMAZING and rewarding! #ncsthinkopen#LEADlap
A6: My identity at work is -the guy who will do anything it takes to help others. My students know I will be there and help them, my staff knows I will give them my time and energy. I want others to identify me as their leader instead of my name plate outside my office. #LeadLAP
A4: I love to be outdoors and enjoy running, bible study, etc. I deliberately have to set morning time (uninterrupted) to run, yoga, swim, bike, and meditate (bible study). I don’t overcommit and have to be careful of the work abyss. #LeadLAP#RunLAP
A5: After listening to a fantastic podcast recently, I've realized that my professional goals are more about my calling & less about my season of assignment. A calling is why we are here. An assignment is what we do. I find fulfillment when my work aligns w/ my calling. #LeadLAP
A6. Currently drafting & creating documents & supports for struggling students for 12 districts takes a lot of time. I am putting more effort into PD and building local capacity to be centered on every student more. It is all about growing through kindness & learning. #LeadLAP
A3: I have coffee with two special friends every Sunday morning, which helps me stay grounded. I definitely need to work more on including exercise in my daily/weekly schedule. #LeadLAP
Small district. Lots of hats. Also am Lead Eng T, Building Leadership Team Facilitator, PE Team Facilitator, Yearbook Adviser, and coach 2 sports. Whew! Oh, and Prof Dev committee member. #LeadLAP
A6: THIS IS MY FAV... I REMOVE MYSELF FROM THE CENTER!
I am a 3rd grade T who chooses to facilitate to nurture Empowerment-Heighten Engagement-Open Minds! This has positive impact on Ss Ts As Ps #LeadLAP#Nan3EDU
A5: My goal this school year has been to reflect and I have done so with thought partners, in writing & with my PLN. I have overhauled my evaluations of teachers and facilitate a time to reflect on best practice. This has lead to many positive outcomes. #LeadLAP
YES! I turned off all notifications on my phone except phone calls and text messages and most of the day keep it on silent. Being in charge of when I check all of that has helped me! #LeadLAP
In reply to
@PrincipalJ, @chenault_jamie, @pinkpatterson
A5: I want to be able to speak to my peers about the importance of being trauma-informed and/or the value of building relationships with the parents of Ss. I don't know how to take the next step and "put myself out there." Suggestions? #LeadLAP
A5: Goal is to STAY INVOLVED! Getting involved at the State level has provided a plethora of opportunities for me to grow professionally, collaborate with leaders around the country & stretch myself. All of this benefits our KIDS! @NCSAdan@NAESP#LeadLAP
Was a pretty cool experience, actually got to meet @bbray27 in person on the day that I interviewed for a PL coach position later that afternoon. :) #LeadLAP

A6: Easy to be consumed with discipline & paperwork all day but I choose to be in the halls, greet people, be in the know & be as proactive to situations. There are things I can’t predict but proactivity is more beneficial then reacting to everything that comes my way. #LeadLAP
A5. Over the years I watched so many leaders fail to reach toward their own professional growth and become complacent. Team work and encouragement can shift this. #leadLAP
