#PatinsIcam Hi! I'm a college student studying Communication Sciences & Disorders. I am working on a genius hour project about whether autistic students learn better in a integrated or self contained classroom. #edit2000mane

Q5 Read. Let them see you read. Talk about what you read, ask questions. tell about your favorite book as a child (Charlotte's Web)! Alternative, comfortable seating.... #patinsicam
I had a friend in nursing program who added smell suggestion hints in some of her note cards (healthy smells vs unhealthy problems). Got to engage all senses to learn! #PatinsIcam
A5: Make sure students have access and exposure to all kinds of text - tactile books, auditory text, and written work. Model your excitement for reading! #PatinsIcam

A5: I have giant dog beds all in a corner! I’d like to get some stuffed animals to make it more fun but I do have a read to Gertie the Gecko program! #PatinsIcam
A3: I loved "weird fruit day" in class. We looked at it, guessed what it would look/taste like. We journaled and explored the fruit and the cut and ate it! Did you know a cactus fruit (prickly pear) is green or yellow on the outside and MAGENTA on the inside? #PatinsIcam
Very respectful and helpful hand under hand support, not forcing hand over hand... what's that great quote, "cover a kid's hands can be like covering their eyes?" #PatinsIcam
A6: i use Orton Gillingham and watching my first and second graders sound out words in a Fly Guy book on Friday was kind of amazing. First year tingles! #PatinsIcam
A3: oh the funnest one of all! Just think of how to bring the story to life. Look at the Little Red Hen....time for bringing in wheat, flour make bread. Act it all out! #PatinsIcam
A4: My daughter and I do her spelling words in many different modes each week...whipped cream or chocolate syrup writing! It incorporates the touch in such a fun (and yummy) way! #PatinsIcam
#7A I loved to taking a theme and tying books into it and doing all the activities with rich language morning and afternoon sessions. Activities that incorporate all the senses. inside pumpkins, tasting pumpkin pie, making pumpkin playdough with spices, field trips #PatinsIcam
A7 I’m learning on this one, but word prediction has helped a lot and also sentence starters. I also have a draft rule which is write whatever you can think and we can clean it up later:) #PatinsIcam
A7: using repetitive stories and allowing students to write in, say, or point to how they would change the story ex: "If you give a mouse a cookie, he will..."#PatinsIcam
Well, Padlet has limited the boards for the free version so our team has been exploring Lino because it is free and unlimited right now! Check it out: https://t.co/CO2RLGYIe8#PatinsIcam
The power of play, hopscotch sounds patterns, glue and beans, lots of texture and delay a bit of writing formally until there’s language...Montessori would go cursive before block print and this helps dyslexia so much!!! #PatinsIcam
I encourage my teachers to have relevant books in the various centers. Use teachable moments they happen daily and pull that book that fits the moment. #PatinsIcam
Q9: Combines speaking, listening, reading, something tactile or that requires movement, repetition in unison, all make multisensory approach interesting and fun.#patinsicam
Q8: https://t.co/iwIJiTbBzE has great resources and books and they don't symbolify text. If you want kids to read words, give them words, not pictures! #PatinsIcam
