Finding strengths is so important for these kids! So often, the people around them are focused on helping them with their difficulties that their strengths are lost in the shuffle.
Q3 A2 Ask your student who they look up to. Do they see @WonderWomanFilm or your local pet-sitter and idolize them? Often finding a mentor that’s similar to a student's idol can help to form an immediate connection. #LDChat
Q4 A1. We have seen mentors find that not only did they see a change in their mentee, but in themselves too! We’ve found that 1:1 mentoring is beneficial to both the mentors and mentees. #LDChat

A4: For our community especially, this is so important because #NVLD isn't as well known and understood as ADHD or ASD or Dyslexia. Students with NVLD need to feel like they are not alone and that someone understands what they are going through. #ldchat
A4: In more general terms, its important to find mentors that truly understand the ins and outs of what it means to have a specific LD. This connection, this deep understanding, is rarely found with parents and educators because they often have the same LD. #ldchat
