A1 Yes, I have my students use Google slides They provide a common platform that Ss are accustomed to manipulating They can be shared for easy group work, & they can be used in many ways #5thchat
A1: My S use Google Slides regularly. I embed hyperdocs in them, they use them for presentations, etc. It's always an option for how they present their work. Looking for new ways to use them beyond the basic presentation features. #5thchat
A1 I have used 365 in previous years, so Ss have used PowerPoint, Sway, and Prezi. This is my first year to add Google Classroom so we're jumping in! #5thchat
A1: Absolutely! Google slides is a phenomenal tool that can allow students the opportunity to express their learning in a personalized way. It also helps develop several learning skills, such as the 4C’s. #5thchat
A1 I LOVE me some google slides. I’ve helped teachers use them lots of ways, but I love using them to collaborate with colleagues. Plan things in chunks, assign slides to do work! #5thchat
I didn’t use them as much, but after attending one of @alicekeeler presentations @CFISDchat district, I am so thrilled about using more this year! #5thchat
I am Marcia Carrillo, Induction Coordinator for Merced union high school district, in Merced CA. I’m beginning my 30th year, 13 years as a Mentor/TOSA! Excited to be here #5thchat
A1 We do use google slide. One of the main reasons is because they can work on them at the same time from their own devices. That way, they always have access and can see changes. #5thchat

A1a Google slides also make the class equitable in a 1:1 technology setting All Ss can create on slides, and with the correct guidance outcomes can be consistent #5thchat

A2 I love that I can embed just about anything into the slide! You tube videos etc! I am working on transitioning our handbook to google slides #5thchat
A2. It’s small but I like the “chunks” in Slides. 1) Love that they are smaller than a traditional page (even though you can change them), write less and think visually. #5thchat
A2. 2) Love that you can view them different ways, grid view what??? 3) Love me some speaker notes and commenting for flexibility of feedback. #5thchat
A2: google slides gives students so many opportunities to be creative. It is also an opportunity to prove mastery in another way other than those boring standardized test. Give kids a chance to shine! #5thchat
A2. .@alicekeeler taught me that Master Slides exist in Slides and that made me the happiest person ever! Set up layout templates for students to use! #5thchat

A2 The versatility and simplicity. It can be used for presentations, collaboration, organization, and so much more but is simple enough for everyone to utilize. #5thchat
A3 Ss of all levels can use google slides My Ss enjoy using slides but I have to be sure to differentiate how I use them, and how often I use them Too much of a good thing can backfire #5thchat
A3: I taught 4th grade last year, and those students LOVED it. They had so much ownership over how they presented their knowledge. It was a little rocky at first, but they caught on very quickly. #5thchat
A2 They are able to work collaboratively from anywhere and I can give feedback to them as they work without them having to upload, send it, and wait for me. #5thchat
A3: today was our 5th day of school and I teach 5th grade math. I love to use slides daily to reflect on learning. I have spent the first 5 days letting students explore draw and slides with different task. They have never used it, so it is all brand new. It takes time! #5thchat
A2: google slides can be turned into Hyperdocs, insert image, video, decorate & get creative, with links, images, can be saved as a png image, able to comment & provide feedback, each slide has their own url, ah-mazing! #5thchat
A3 So easy and they love it! Only problem I had was when we did a class slide show and 1 decided to play with another Ss slide. We set that straight with a quick discussion. #5thchat
A3: I’ve found slides is very easy for students to use, but I try to instill ways in which they can be more INNOVATIVE with the tool and encourage them to augment the application. #5thchat@alicekeeler
A4: Favorite thing about Google Slides for me is being able to check them from anywhere. Standing in line at the grocery store reading student work instead of tabloids. #5thchat
A4: it gives free range to do whatever they want! Your students who are not so great at multiple choice can prove their mastery in a different form. It’s huge!! #5thchat
A4 My favorite part of Google slides is how Ss can show their personality, voice, & creativity in their usage All Ss are creative & slides help them share it #5thchat
A2: Google slides is amazing because there is literally no limit to want can be done with it!! The fostering of collaboration is so easy!! #5thchat#KSD111
@alicekeeler A4 I love using the shape tool to essentially annotate a picture. The shapes can be used as links to other slides for explanation and/or analysis. It’s perfect for gallery walks! I used this for an art museum project. Kids loved it. #5thchat@alicekeeler
A4 Slide Masters hands down. Even for collaborative slides I use with adults I like creating “slide templates” that are easy to use and customize. #5thchat
A4 Interactive at pace learning. Presenting information, guiding discovery, creation and proof of learning all on different color slides to keep everything organized. #5thchat
Don't be afraid to try new things this school year. You may fail, and you may have to lean on others, but isn't that what we should be doing? We all learn from our mistakes, right? #DareToBe#5thchat
A5: When adding a video from YouTube, you can set the start and stop times. Works well when you want just part of the video to play as part of a #noticewonder discussion. #5thchat
A3: I've used Google Slides with 2nd graders on their very first research project EVER!! They loved it!! We learned about transitions and animations last... mainly because they were gone after that!! #5thchat#KSD111
A4: my fav is collaborative slides, share with all Ss, add a slide, put name in speaker notes, explain your thinking. Insert a pic of your math problems, then explain in writing or on video how you approached it & solved it! #5thchat
Friends our moderator tonight is a high school student. Bless her for being brave and jumping in to do this. @amysuetish has a passion for #googleSlides#5thchat
A5: Don’t have more than one person working on the same slide at the same time (4th grade tip), “Duplicate Slide” is a time/life saver, Use the internal link feature (not sure of the real name for it) to be able to jump to specific slides. #5thchat
Screenshot of your @desmos or score on @quizizz & include a reflection, writing, video or both! Then require 2 actionable feedback comments from peers for full credit #5thchat

A3: yes!! It’s so easy for students to use! Students are so good at figuring out technology and helping one another if they are stuck. Out of all the google tools, google slides was a student favorite! #5thchat

A4: I love how easy it is to use!! From 2nd grade to admin, everyone can figure out how to do it! Add a slide, put your name as the title, add a video, drawing, or image with 10 or fewer words to show me what you know or learned!! #5thchat#KSD111
Had someone ask me during a presentation once...”if every student puts the answer on a slide, won’t they look at each other’s answers and cheat?”
Umm...🤷🏼♀️. Ask better questions, give better assignments, and let students is this creatively! #5thchat

A4 love creativity some students show with open ended assignments. Got some amazing slides for mission projects! I give paper and digital choices and models are not a choice at all... #5thChat

#5thChat I'm Paige. Instructional technology facilitator for LAUSD. I love Google slides. Just stared working with an elementary school. Getting some resistance introducing this with the little ones. Advice?
You are not allowed to turn something in without a peer feedback comment on it. Click the blue share button and get some feedback! #googleSlides#5thchat

A6: Digital Notebooks. Have students create Google Slides for warm ups. They had slide templates from Google Classroom. They can edit and add pages as needed, create a table of context with hot links, etc. #5thchat@alicekeeler

A6: Design a response. Slides allows students to start with a blank canvas and an idea. As a teacher ask questions that allow for processing and design. #5thchat
A6: After they learn a concept, I have them explain the process in google slides. A lot of kids love to include screen castify when explaining their pictures. Then they download their slide to their personal website. They publish their work, they don’t turn it in! #5thchat
A6: I love all the Google Slides templates out there, especially for GRAPHIC NOVELS! Students creating their own graphic novels in Google Slides is a great way to engage reluctant writers and allows students to embrace creativity. #5thchat@alicekeeler
A6 I like to have my Ss work through #ClaimEvidenceReasoning activities in slides The commonality of the process w/the ability to collaborate & create #5thchat

The internet did not invent cheating. We didn't give up on worksheets just because they rampantly copied off each other. DESIGN for them being able to see each others work. #googleSlides#5thchat

A7: HIGHLY RECOMMEND getting all students onto the same slides! Have realistic expectiations. It's not a natural skill to collaborate on a digital document. #5thChat
A7 yes!! Just make sure they are signed in through their Google acct, and I am in my TEACHER Google acct so they are not all anonymous animals. learned that the hard way. Hah! #5thChat

A7 Yes, I did. We created an "All About Us" slideshow where we each got a slide or more to work on and fill up with any info that we wanted to share with each other. #5thchat

This year at our new teacher orientation I modeled using collaborative slides with our new teachers, had them create a slide to introduce themselves to share on social media! Walked them through how to use in their classroom while we created! #5thchat
A7: what kind of expectations do you guys set when they all collaborate on the same slides? It’s hard when they are all trying to make new slides at the same time and it keeps moving them down. #5thChat
A5: To add something you don't want changed to the master slide! And the link slides from one presentation to another feature!! So if I change one, it changes them all!!! ❤❤❤ #5thchat#googleslides

It can be tough seeing all those slides moving and trying to find the one you made, but that lasts for about 30 seconds until everyone has all made their slides. #5thchat

Amy, If you are working in a group of 2 or 3 Ss making slides, do you ever work on the same presentation at the same time? What’s your process? How do you like it? #5thchat
YES! we each have a slide we "assign" each other to and we each do our slide. I love doing this and it makes group projects real group projects and not just one person doing all the work. #5thchat
Great topic tonight @alicekeeler & @amysuetish Many ideas that I am looking forward to trying with my Ss this year Thanks for a great hour of PD everyone! #5thChat

Do NOT use undo!! That is HUGE!! #googleslides can't tell who's do you want to undo so it just undoes the last do... and that can be VERY frustrating!! #5thchat

My favorite thing about the Slides app on my phone is...everything. I use it all the time to pop pictures in from my camera roll or take them and pop them in. #5thchat
Exactly. Have a good attitude and do it again. It's like asking kinders to line up at the door. You don't think they can't you try again. #5thchat#googleSlides
It was a mad house the first time we tried this! Screams and shouts: “who changed the background”; “I can’t find my page” etc. We laughed so much though! Here to learn how to resolve these issues
A9: Tbh, I'm not thrilled about using it on phone to do more than just consume. Small screen + trying to click on things I can't see cuz my finger is over it = frustrating. #5thchat
