Good morning! I don’t think I’ve taught long enough to qualify for this question 😆, but I would say that building relationships is the one thing that never changes. It mattered when I was a student, when my kids were students, and every day in our classrooms #bfc530
Feeling a little like our molting hen when she gets near the wood stove this morning. How’s the #bfc530 bunch? What never goes out of style? High expectations and strong relationships.
For go-to or consistently used practices consider collaborative group work and real-time virtual meeting space. Bring Ss and Ts together to create positive educational exploration and support. #bfc530
Definitely the writing process. Teaching that revisions are key, reading and re-reading is a must, and words aren't scary. It always amazes me how kids are afraid to put pen to paper, or fingers to keyboard, yet they'll post a photo of themselves in a bathroom mirror. #bfc530
Tough question, lots of thought required at 5:30 am! 😂One thing I can't - won't - give up is paper & pencil. I need that brain to hand connection and so do many kids. #bfc530
Writing workshop has looked a little different for me each year I teach, but it always leads to growth in my students and it's a practice I plan to keep. #BFC530

One simple, non fad-related method has been the consistent use of humor. Humor is an important way to maintain a positive, engaging atmosphere in class and is also a great form of therapy for teacher and students alike in what can be a highly stressful environment. #bfc530

Find joy daily. Laugh. Smile. Build good student & team relationships (I work in Spec Ed so with EAs, consultants, etc). Use @Planboard to dayplan....ok, I shared more than one but I use all of these #BFC530 ☀️

A year-long focus, every year, on building honest, trusting, caring relationships with my students...each of them is a precious gift and it is a privilege to be serving and supporting them! #bfc530

Good morning everyone- I've always had morning meetings. They morph from day to day but the coming together in a circle to share is a constant. We dance and sing our way to the carpet and then greet one another by name with a smile. #bfc530
Teaching and learning has been happening for millennia... and based on the innovation happening around us ... contrary to political reports it seems to be generally successful. #bfc530

Running clssrm, being authentic, fitting ideas into my personality & the community of Ss I teach rather than blindly following some edu-rock star, & being able to laugh at myself. Pedagogy in a history class, use of games & simulations so the class is hands on #bfc530#edufads

Good morning #bfc530 Allowing students to choose books for themselves whenever possible is always positive. Other than that - connecting, listening, and sharing with Ss, admin, colleagues, and parents is key to success.

We need to stop thinking technology is the great savior. It does not replace the face to face time with a genuinely caring teacher ... a mentor ...#bfc530
28 years ago I discovered @NancieAtwell's writing workshop & I've been using it ever since. Tweaks happen, but the underlying strategy is the same: lots of time in class for writing, feedback, revisions, rewriting.

The one thing I have used consistently during my 28 years of teaching is the display and use of each student’s culture (and my own) to spark discussion, acceptance, and participation. #BFC530
I have always tried to use real life scenarios to teach my class. Sometimes it is something I share. Other times it what I assign. “The client needs a new lower third graphic for their am newscast “ #bfc530
We use journals in class - a collection of notes, responses, and pictures and activities that we do during the year. Love having them look back, and organize by building a table of contents as they go. Such a great way to see progress and ideas develop! #bfc530@MrU_ishere
Im often seen as a teacher that has incorporated a lot of edtech in my clssrm, but my own evaluation is Im more paper & pencil. I dont think others views are wrong, in being discriminating in tech I use provides more benefit to the student rather than using it to use it #bfc530
I love how what is "new" is really 'old'. When I get a new prof ed book, the first thing I do is go right to the references/bibliography. Some things never change. #bfc530
I put their names on their pencils with a sharpie - easy to find owners at the end of the day when I pick them all up off the floor. *insert grumble sound here* #bfc530

Great idea. One technique I learned from my 10th grade Literature teacher that I have used for close to 30 yrs is to use personal stories to relate to the topic at hand. The students listen & think of ways they have had similar experiences & allows history to come alive #bfc530
My strategy that has longevity? Purposeful information gap at every opportunity. Students need to retrieve information in order to learn and retain. #bfc530
No technology or fad will ever replace standing near the door and greeting every student by name everyday. It’s often the best part of the class itself. #bfc530

The thing about #bfc530 that everyone is missing is that we are on the verge of runaway climate change and we need a complete re-think of the global economy to ensure a just society & avoid planetary catastrophe.
Yes, an anonymous @google form tells me a lot. I also started using a comment box in my room. It has helped when students have something to give me feedback on. #BFC530

Bingo! No such thing as “perfect” edu; all we can do is be passionate about our kids on our own, and hope to share that passion with other teachers. Passion inspires passion so often, we’ve got to keep sharing it! #bfc530
It’s now my belief on what a student’s grade means. My grade book reflects a S content knowledge only. I also have phone contact with parents as much as I can. When parents are informed, class is better! #bfc530
“I am a human being and I will do this for everybody”: This Milwaukee bus driver stopped her bus and ran out to scoop up a baby girl, barefoot in freezing temperatures, who was quickly walking toward an intersection https://t.co/hDmSr6Aam6
What’s it like to have millions of fans when you’re 10? 🤔
What’s it like to have thousands of people insult or adore you? 💔
