A1: People who inspire you, who you can connect with, who you can learn from and who just make you better (and you try to do the same for them eventually) #nt2t

A1. Personal/Professional? Learning network. The group that provides inspiration, seeks & provides feedback, reflects and ponders issues, and helps you keep up with everything. #NT2T
I just talked to this with my students here - the personal and professional nowadays seem to intertwine so much that they are just one and the same. #NT2t
A1 A professional learning network is all about making connections. In reality, any group of your connections -- professional or casual -- involves exchange of information no matter what you call it. #NT2t
A PLN is a personalized network of caring and passionate individuals who share & learn together.
A PLC is an ongoing process in which educators work collaboratively to improve learning of their students.

A2: Investing your time and energy into building a PLN allows you to learn at your pace and a time that's convenient for you from educators world wide who share your passions. #NT2t
A2: I think it is important to invest in a PLN because it is a great way to connect to people in other states and in other countries. I think it is also a way to get new ideas for the classroom and share your great ideas with someone else. It educators helping educators. #NT2t

A2 Taking the time and effort to build up a professional learning network means you'll have a ready source of information at your fingertips rather than have to rush around to look for it. #NT2t
#NT2t A2: That investment pays off in expanding your global learning for you and your students. My friend @JoyceBronwyn in Aystralia really has been a great help for my ss and me.
A2. Globally connects your classroom. Keeps you up to date with latest #edu trends, source of inspiration, place to go for friendly support, reassurance and advice! #nt2t
Not at all! I could NOT see the reason why I would want to chat with a group of people who were int he same room as I was!! I let my account be for about 2 yrs-then I found gardeners & then eductors! #NT2t
A2 a PLN is how you connect with other people who can teach you, invest in you, and help you grow. it's important especially in the teaching world, because we all share ideas, no one needs to reinvent the wheel. #NT2T

Was also un-enthused by Twitter... thought it was just for celebs and who could say anything meaningful in 140 characters... I have seen the light #NT2T

A2a) Investing that time is fun and so informative. You learn so much from others and can pay it forward by sharing what you know. Makes everyone better! #nt2t

My students love to see the reactions and the things that are happening across the globe in other classrooms . We are in a small rural school so it gives us an equal footing with city schools.. #NT2t
A2: As an educator you can feel very isolated, even though you are surrounded by Ss and other Ts. The day gets busy & opps for sharing are minimal. Building a #PLN provides u w/ 24/hr support & collab #NT2t
They should at least be on board with being part of a PLN. Twitter is one way. They should be able to answer how they're guiding their own learning. #nt2t
In reply to
@jschwartzcen, @hartel30, @stephwurking, @manavlalotra
A3: My first steps - since I hated Twitter-was to let my account sit. Then I joined a chat based on my interest - gardening. I engaged in gardening chats & follwed gardeners. Then I found educators & ed chats...that's all she wrote! #NT2t
A3: Masters course made us joing Twitter and follow 3 people which lead to falling into #flipgrid fever family and being invited to #nt2t by @jschwartzcen And the rest is history...
A3: The first step to building my PLN was getting a twitter account, and making a website that has my digital portfolio in it. I also have a professional pinterest. #nt2t
I know!!!! When Twitter was introduced to me I was at a conference & we were told to start an account & tweet during the presentation. It was SO distracting to me -why would I tweet to people in the room with me? #NT2t
A3: My first step - Twitter. What else? ;) Then my learning journey starts. Use hashtags to follow and lists to channel the input. Take part in chats to learn. #NT2T
A3: Creating a Twitter account for professional use, following prof. orgs. & Ts I met at workshops, joining in chats like #satchat and #NT2t helped build my PLN.
As you build your #PLN most people tend to follow those with similar points of view. That's OK but after a while, follow those who challenge your thinking - that's how you learn & grow - step away from the echo chamber #NT2t

A3 creating a professional twitter account and joining #NT2t has started my #PLN, tweeting about what I learn in education classes and tweeting answers to chat questions is a great start, but I'm still growing my PLN and I have a lot to learn!
A4: Find out their current professional interests. Offer what you know. If you don't have anything, research. It's a growth opportunity for you as well. #NT2t
A4: I share links to articles that I find thought provoking, share information about upcoming conferences and events, and what I've found effective in my classroom. #NT2t
A4: Whenever I come across some new information that is beneficial to me, I make a point to share that information (by retweets or in person), because if it helps me, I'm sure someone else could benefit from it too! #Nt2t
A4: I think curation is an important part of a #PLN. Curating articles, links, input - a base for talk and discussion and of course for learning. #NT2t
A4: Share what you know and even what you don't. We all have value. Connect with them via Skype/Hangouts and/or F2F when appropriate. RT (retweet) their questions, blogs, etc. #nt2t

A4 Helping other people's growth is as simple as being available and participating. Join in conversions. You encourage your students to speak up. Now it's your turn. #NT2t
A4: I can tweet about things that will benefit them. For example, as teachers we can share different activities, and rather than reinventing the wheel we can all share ideas. #nt2t
A4: I can be sure to share my ideas because it is important to help other teachers. I can be sure to retweet those who have great ideas to help those who follow me. Educators helping other educators #NT2t
A4 sharing teaching ideas and strategies that I'm learning and that I find on twitter and giving encouragement can be great additions to other people's #PLN. #NT2t
Since I can control who sees my Facebook posts, I tend to use that for information I don't want to be public. I like having my Tweets public, so I limit personal details. #NT2t
To this point my classroom account has been a valuable learning resource for my students and myself, expanding our global reach and learning. Do maintain strict guidelines for online safety for students. #nt2t
A5: I follow users who make me think, who can teach me something I haven't considered before. I'm less likely to follow someone who has no profile picture. #NT2t
A5: As long as they have ambition and drive, they are part of my PLN! Wanting to better themselves, not settling b/c "that's how we always did it" #nt2t
A5: The guiding factor to adding someone to my PLN is whether or not they are a fellow educator, and if their tweets will help me better myself as an educator. #nt2t
A5: They should have tweets that are helpful and are knowledgeable. Someone who is engaged in furthering their education is someone I want to help further my education. #NT2t
A5: Positive nature... innovative ideas... connected with others in similar interests... or new to Twitter or teaching who want to build a strong PLN #nt2t
A5: Are they practitioners of something I want to learn? Do they follow pros I recognize? Are their tweets professional, helpful, thought-provoking? #NT2T
A5 I decide who to follow -- add to my personal learning network -- on Twitter by looking at their time lines and see who has conversations. Those who only "broadcast" with little in return won't do much for you. #NT2t
A5: Positive nature... innovative ideas... connected with others in similar interests... or new to Twitter or teaching who want to build a strong PLN #nt2t
A5 When someone tweets something that I appreciate, agree with, or connect with, I check out their twitter and see if their other tweets are the same way, and if they are I follow them. #NT2t
A6 You can't have a personal learning network that's too big. When you have questions, why restrict who can send you answers? You could miss the right ones. #NT2t
Q6: If you use lists, even the biggest PLN becomes comprehensible! I have lists for local Edus, fellow Latin teachers, #digcit, #NT2t, etc. That way I only see Tweets from a particular segment of the users I follow.
A6: As long as everyone you follow is contributing to your educational growth then I do not think you can have a PLN that is to big. Why limit your learning when there is so many great educators to follow and learn from #NT2t
A6: I do not think your PLN can be too big, because the goal is to build on your PLN, and get to know other people and benefit from them and other people can benefit from you. #nt2t
A6: Also... let's say I have an idea of who is in my PLN b/c I check out their feed for ideas, etc. But do I know who's PLN I am in?? Like..who am I helping to learn?! #nt2t#existentialtwittercrisis
A6: As long as everyone you follow is contributing to your educational growth then I do not think you can have a PLN that is to big. Why limit your learning when there is so many great educators to follow and learn from #NT2t
A6: Too big of a PLN?? I have no idea! I'm still so new to this that 'too big of a PLN' doesn't seem like an issue that will be arising for me anytime soon! #Nt2t
Q6: If you use lists, even the biggest PLN becomes comprehensible! I have lists for local Edus, fellow Latin teachers, #digcit, #NT2t, etc. That way I only see Tweets from a particular segment of the users I follow.
A5 - First, and most importantly, I ask myself if they "represent my brand". I try to follow people who are not "offensive" for others to see on my Twitter account. People that represent the appropriate amount of professionalism. #NT2t
A6. No such thing as too big a #PLN 😄 I find that as you PLN grows, Twitter lists combined with 3rd party tools such as TweetDeck & HootSuite can you you manage your Twitter stream! #nt2t
A6 - I don't think so. Connecting globally simply increases your chances of encountering something amazing.... it does "turn up the noise" sometimes too! #NT2t
A6 If you are careful about who you follow then your #PLN can't be too big, just make sure that everyone you follow is someone that you can learn from and connect with, there are so many great connections to make! #NT2t
A6: I'm not sure it can be too big... but could get to unwieldy to manage through. Harder to stay connected and meaningful with everyone #nt2t But too big is a nice problem to have vs the alternative of going it alone.

A6: The volume of info as PLNs grow can be overwhelming if you feel you have to do it all. I was like that. Now, I allow myself to put part of my PLN on shelf and pull it out when need arises. It's like a home library. #NT2t
Welcome to Twitter! I remember being so nervous when I 1st started! Reach out often & ask to collaborate on projects with others! Best advice I can give! #nt2t

Similarly for retweets: Just because others said it, when you retweet, you own it. Saying retweets don't constitute endorsements is a lazy easy out that doesn't pass the smell test. #NT2t
I’ve been challenged, questioned my core values, learned things I never could have imagined & experienced the very best in humanity thanks to my PLN #nt2t
