Interested in student-driven classrooms? Join Dr. Nancy Sulla @nsulla (author of Students Taking Charge, Its Not What You Teach But How, Building Executive Function: The Missing Link to Student Achievement, and more) and educators from all over in #LATICchat on Thursday nights at 8pm ET. We hope to bring together a community of educators to share insights, stories, examples, pictures from their classrooms, and more. We welcome all educators to join; no need to be running a #LATIC classroom.
A1) So many ways but I'll pick one ... I love having kids use formulas in sheets to have kids set up "what if" scenarios for problem-solving and cognitive flexibility. #LATICchat
Yes! @Office365_Tech suite that I used daily helps with all of those skills. I use @3DBearOfficial to help with planning & reasoning & self awareness when trying to create their AR. @Flipgrid helps give students a voice. The list continues but those are my favs!

A1 S’s use is pacing guides in class and paper planners that the school provides. I have been working w S’s to use digital calendars w reminder alarms for due dates to increase EF #LATICchat
A1: I’ve used the notes app on iPad to help students create journals for themselves when dealing with emotions. I tell them to write anything they want and know it isn’t a grade, no points deducted for any reason. Just get any feelings OUT #TechInfusion
A2: Designing a student Learning Dashboard for students to track their grades in a spreadsheet allows students to see effects of different grades and take ownership of their learning. #LATICchat
A2: Every year, my Ss have to discover a problem & design a solution to stop destroying LIs aquifers. They have used presentation tools to help get their message across plus 3D modeling to show the impact of the effects. The visuals they create pare very powerful!

#LATICchat teach students to use spreadsheets to track goals throughout the year with digital portfolios! Helps keep them motivated and goal-oriented while teaching them to use technology
A3: Concept mapping apps allow less linear thinkers to organize their ideas and collect their thoughts in a format that works with their brain's natural flow! #LATICchat
A3: Ooh, I just learned about Microsoft Planner at #FETC and cant wait to use that tool to help my research students organize their 3rd quarter assignment. I think its great that tech is allowing out student more ownership for their organization!

Q4: I just did some coding with Scratch in Grades 4-8 today. This provides many opportunities to problem solve, and to work on problem-sovling skills. #LATICchat
#LATICchat teach Ss to use the collaborative function in most word processing programs to share documents and spreadsheets. Edit, share ideas, use for science labs and experiments, also GREAT for STEM projects
A4: Tech lets Ss use other methods of communication. Often times it's easier for them to design something visually rather than try to explain it. That's why I love using #AR
with @3DBearOfficial Ss are able to create the world they want to see!
#LATICchat
A4 Tech can be used as a tool or platform to work through PS and critical thinking. It also can be used to collaborate and communicate solutions and critiques to seek better improved solutions. Not to mention view the process they used. #LATICchat
CQ: I love doing periodic @Flipgrid. The visuals of this app really shows student development both academically and even physically. It's fun for them to just realize how much they've grown in every way in the yr!

CA by using technology seamlessly in the day to day classroom S’s can also use it to create a dialogue w other S’s, T’s even themselves digitally. Peer, Expert and Self reflection is a wonderful tool especially partnered with constructive feedback. #LATICchat

A2 tech is a great way for students to simulate their ideas in a way that is possible without gathering costly materials. It allows them to identify problems before the actual building of their ideas.

A3 by using @MicrosoftEDU and @OneNoteEDU we are seeing students organize their activity list and keep track of their assignments on their own with minimal guidance.
#LATICchat
A4 I love the collaborative nature of technology to improve problem solving skills. Many educators believe tech to be the death of interpersonal skills but really it is the next evolution.
#LATICchat
I love this: "the next evolution." It's happening in my personal and professional life: how we can be so much more connected & collaborative because of the tech available & the intentional use of it. That to me is the key. Teach Ss to use tech with a purpose! #LATICchat
