I enjoyed last week. Glad to be back for another week :)
A1Please don't say "I ask if there are any questions"...cause you know what the answer will be! https://t.co/lFWZpxGO9u
Q1. How do you check for understanding in your classroom FULL of students?
A1 Lots of ways...exit tickets, , indiv. or small group conferences, even just thumbs up/down/sideways
Use getkahoot for 100% engagement https://t.co/fBZHLiL9eM
Q1. How do you check for understanding in your classroom FULL of students?
A1. love Socrative, where can Ts locate essential questions? Does your team design together? https://t.co/svs30NFRs0

A1- Many different ways. I make observations, look for level of engagement in the activity...exit cards, Conversations
Ashley from North Texas. Proud alum of Oklahoma State. Go Pokes!
Would like to do more of that. EQ's drive our units; often posted in classroom.
Yes, Kahoot is a great too.
this is helpful for ! Please chime in! our ? how do you (Ts) check for understanding? https://t.co/Mztr4EXVVt
Numerous assessments directly tied to the standards that allow ps to see what their ss can and can't do.
I agree. Looking for engagement helps me know where to hit first. Then small groups, indiv.checks and exit tickets.
A1. Exit Tickets are quick and easy ways to identify a specific need in the class
I would like to hear a bit more about exit tickets... https://t.co/WfUuHbhClk
A1. Exit Tickets are quick and easy ways to identify a specific need in the class
for exit tickets, do you find index cards or dry boards work best in your practice?
Dry Erase Boards work great..they are quick and readily accessible. We are also 1:1 tech...many apps too
All of the above. :) post-its are one of my go-to's also. Cut up scrap paper (bad copies) work too.
Give Ss 1 question to answer and turn in at the end of class. It's great for informing instruction!
Q2. How do you ask questions that are created equally?
OH! Love using scrap paper, I am at a very "green" campus and this is great tip. Thank you! https://t.co/CKohOLiCjp

Have you ever asked your students to tweet the answer at the end of the day/period? https://t.co/kYNIVQWpXi

I don't have classroom twitter accounts for my Ss
Yes, I was wanting some clarification on this question as well.
A2 Turn and talk removes a lot of the pressure of answering in front of whole class. Wait time is also key.
A2 Turn and talk, pick sticks, Padlet... all work well.
A2- I use Kagan cooperative structures for students answering questions. More participation than just asking one student.
Lol...thats our next q....wait time! https://t.co/FANZ73FDKJ
A2 Turn and talk removes a lot of the pressure of answering in front of whole class. Wait time is also key.
A2 Other ways... Kahoot, plickers, multiple choice cards...
A2-not sure this counts but have had luck with asking for certain # of hands before calling on someone. More willingness to try.
Q3..So let's go ahead and throw it out there... How do you know when to move on? (wait time)
Barry's Fun English has some great student selector tools that are free. Plus students love technology
Nice...and yes they do...love tech! https://t.co/kHJCXOzYwQ

A3. Sounds strange...but instinct and knowing Ss. like seeing the light bulb go on, but not twisting it too hard to shatter it.
Great analogy! https://t.co/P5COdY4TWt

A3- when they are discussing, I wait for the natural lull. That's my cue to pull them back in.
Running late but I'm here. 5th grade Reading/Science
. A1: post it notes, 3-2-1 reflection, turn and talk. I diff ones depending on where we are in unit
. A2: Created equally? What do you mean?
Yes, different tools work better depending on the unit of study.
....ready for Q4? On it's way....
. Hard to gauge. Based on responses to questions? If they can't answer you gotta go back!
Q4. How can Ts design/ask Questions that ask for more evidence?
. Gotcha. I love the app Pikme. You add students, shake the device and it picks. I've used for that too.
A1- TX peeps:Check out app. Great resources 4 TEKS and has checks for understanding. Must have!- https://t.co/wVgv9JKu60
. Open ended. Or my favorite line "explain how you know"...
Please share more about PIKme, sounds like a tech tool would make positive impact in c/r. https://t.co/UShmwusl6W

Q4. Ask questions that are higher on Blooms Taxonomy. Higher order questions force students to support answers with evidence.
The hour is flying by...going give you Q5 in a few secs.... https://t.co/Mw4Gj5nQTu
. Open ended. Or my favorite line "explain how you know"...
Currently building relationships with my S's through dialogue journals. Amazing addition to my RDG workshop!
great tip! Will be certain to try and share with PLC team thank you for sharing. https://t.co/a5QIfhj6G9
most definitely! It's the tech way of names on Popsicle sticks. You can even rate students responses and it compiles data.
Q5. Higher order Qs often start with q stems such as Why, What, How, What if, How does it compare... Why are higher order q impt?
. They help students APPLY it in new concepts. When you can manipulate it, you really understand it!
Our hour is about up...few more Q's that I'll post - go ahead and answer when you get a chance!
. thank you everyone and for tip saving practice w/ comprehension questions.
Q6 (pt1)Good Qs are central to learning-sometimes can be more
important than getting the Answers
