A1: My favorite new edTech tool is @ClassroomScreen. A cool tool created by a teacher in the Netherlands to help students focus.Think timer, clock, and other fun tools in one place. The link is https://t.co/bjZaKclLyM#NYCSchoolsTechChat
@BookCreatorApp and @boardmaker BookCreator has helped my SWD create their own books. Boardmaker is amazing because it helped me make interactive activities and take data #NYCSchoolsTechChat

A1: I have been using @goformative for awhile now but they have made some amazing updates this year to make more powerful formative assessments #nycschoolstechchat
A1: As for new things- I’ve loved using @Flipgrid for digital storytelling & brainstorming-students can communicate in many ways. I’ve started a #District75 wide #MinecraftEDU program for #GBL across the curriculum. We’re also initiating a #VR & #AR program #NYCSchoolsTechChat

A1. Right now I have two tech tools. Easel.ly- interactive and allows me to make infographics or interactive graphic organizers and Skitch- helps me annotate text. #NYCSchoolsTechChat
Got to try @GoogleForEdu#Expeditions for the first time with students this year too! ALl very cool. Hopefully will use it for college tours on College Awareness day next week! #nycschoolstechchat
A1: @photomath is a great tool that uses a device’s camera to read a mathematical expression. This app doesn’t only display the answer but shows students the steps to solve the problem. #NYCSchoolsTechChat
Q1 screencastify is a leading tool to share knowledge with peers! Also Google Sites for portfolios and to share information with school!! #NYCSchoolsTechChat
A1: @Planboard is a valuable tool for lesson planning. Planboard allows you to add links to resources, embed videos, or attach files right into your lesson plan. #NYCSchoolsTechChat
A2: I love @quizlet because 1. great new modern design 2. easy to use for teacher and students 3. Great for vocabulary review which students find engaging. But @MetaverseApp seems easy and very cool - Augmented reality quizzes and games for class. #NYCSchoolsTechChat
#nycschoolstechchat Mike, MD, EL LMS, lurking tonight as I don't have any new tools that I'm using. Still figuring out how to implement tools in a new environment.
A2: I am a #MinecraftEDU ambassador & @Flipgrid Level 2 certified-so I love those-I’ve also been doing Breakouts all year. I’m all about #gamifying learning and giving students who struggle a voice which those 3 apps do #NYCSchoolsTechChat

I am a big fan of @GetKahoot I have been able to modify it, differentiatw when need it, and provides visuals for my SWD. It makes learning fun! #NYCSchoolsTechChat

A2: @Flipgrid is on my “to-learn” list. I’m a fan of @GetKahoot. @GetKahoot is useful for providing real-time feedback to students in an engaging way. Students love being able to use their own devices in class. #NYCSchoolsTechChat
I haven't tried any of them in class - but I have looked through google Arts and Culture and see it as a great way of going where you can't go. #NYCSchoolsTechChat

A2: I will also be embarking on incorporating #MinecraftEDU this year in my 7th grade coding class. Anyone have any lessons, materials, or resources to share?? #NYCSchoolsTechChat
Q2 Answer Google Arts and Culture - I'm currently working on implementing this into our ELA Curriculum and sharing with school. Got this from studying for my recent Google 2 Certification test - which i passed :-) #NYCSchoolsTechChat
A1: I have been using @goformative for awhile now but they have made some amazing updates this year to make more powerful formative assessments #nycschoolstechchat
I actually think it’s one of the more manageable tools since it collects student responses in one place #NYCSchoolsTechChat. It’s easier than listening to a turn and talk

#NYCSchoolsTechChat Technology classes for kids seem to get a lot less attention then techtools for teachers. My kids know so little about basic computer skills, it astonished me. Now, I teach them things I assumed were taught in techclass. Tech tools sn replace teaching
Do students have their own devices? If so then they can respond to whatever question you pose simultaneously and back and forth (if you allow it). Otherwise I’ve seen classes set up a recording station/zone. #NYCSchoolsTechChat

Assume our students know little and what they do know is filled with gaps and holes. They're great at finding, consuming, and, perhaps creating content but deeper / keyboarding? Not likely. #nycschoolstechchat
Making a Lit trip, and Google Arts and culture for ELA classes, as well as using Flubaroo for data plus sharing with our teachers via our G+ Tech community!!
The favorite #MinecraftEDU projects I've seen are:
1) Biology lessons and exploring the human eye
2) Word War I history project, including Verdun graves
3) Class class building it's own political systems and exploring rules within a society #NYCSchoolsTechChat

I’ve had students tell stories (as short as a sentence), brainstorming ideas together, documenting projects in class - Here’s some other ideas #NYCSchoolsTechChathttps://t.co/pTYzJqpOST

A4: The most important factors are 1. Adds value to the lesson 2. Makes my life easier 3. Easy for students and teachers to use and setup. #NYCSchoolsTechChat
A4: It always starts with what I want students to learn and then what’s the most engaging and informative way I can present it to students -also if saves me from doing other boring work (auto-grading) then an added bonus #NYCSchoolsTechChat

A4: Ask “how does the technology add value to my lesson”? Don’t use technology just for the sake of using technology. I’m a Computer Science teacher. I love technology. Sometimes low-tech approaches are most effective. #NYCSchoolsTechChat
Motivating to my students, easy to explore. When I first begin using something I want to be able to try it on my own before really learning it. #NYCSchoolsTechChat

A4: Accessibility. Is the technology available to ALL students. It may be 2018 but the reality is that many of our students do not have a laptop, mobile phone or internet access at home. We cannot use edtech tools that are inaccessible to all of our learners. #NYCSchoolsTechChat
A4. The technology needs to enhance the instruction (engagement, empowerment, retention) or collect meaningful data during assessment. What’s the purpose of the data? Then choose your tool. #nycschoolstechchat
Q4 Useful for student and teacher, giving opportunities to provide student-centered, engaging lessons - that also provide teachers opportunities to enrich and expand learning! Free is always important!!!!! #NYCSchoolsTechChat
A4 Though, I love the I love the challenge of how I can tech up the low tech lessons. I can usually find a way to make em more effective. #NYCSchoolsTechChat
Agreed wholeheartedly there. I’ve found that #digitalreflections weren’t working because of our schools super poor bandwidth connection so we switched to good old fashioned pencil and paper note taking. It actually helps a bunch! #NYCSchoolsTechChat
A4 Hands down are they going to lead to more learning and help the student be more successful? It is all for the kids, don't pick edtech tools for show and flash, there must be purpose! #nycschoolstechchat
Paper also helps with learning. Studies show that writing things down on paper is remembered better than typing. Not sure about writing w/ stylus. #NYCSchoolsTechChat
#NYCSchoolsTechChat I agree. As I check out classcraft I see I can get more group cooperation with an uncooperative class. Vowed to set up after vacation.
As a student, I always learned best taking notes with pen and paper. I could never study from an e-book. I needed the paper. I believe this is a personal preference. #NYCSchoolsTechChat
Maybe the current generation of students who have used computers all of their life will be more accustomed to “on-screen” learning and note taking. #NYCSchoolsTechChat
