We do about 15-20 min. in literacy stations & 10-15 min. in math stations. I think 20 min. is pretty much tops for 1st graders. #1stchat

Yes, and it's stapled to a paper towel tube. The scroll gets longer and longer! #1stchat

Not sure if there is time limit... it depends on students and tasks. Ex. I have some students who can work on the number scroll for 30 min. Some can build with pattern blocks for a long time. Others LOVE work sheets. That's why choices are very important. #1stchat

A6: #1stchat What is the maximum amount of time that students should spend at one center?
  • GtanakaTanaka Jan 20 @ 8:58 PM EST
It depends on your class. I’ve had classes that had to switch every 10 minutes, some could do 20 minutes. But i try to push them a little each time to increase their stamina. #1stchat

Oh, the paper towel tube is great. Like a real scroll. I can see the appeal. So cool. Thanks again! Glad I popped in tonight. :) #1stchat
