A1: Right now I do Daily 5 in my classroom and meet with 3 to 4 small groups a day. I make sure that I am meeting with my bottom 30% at LEAST 3-4 times per week. #1stchat
I have 5 reading groups (too many in my opinion:) and 4 math groups this year. It all depends on students' needs and how many students we have in a class. #1stchat
A2: We have adopted Fountas & Pinnell curriculum this year. The rigor of the guided reading texts and the higher level questions have made it much more successful this year. #1stchat

A2: #1stchat I have noticed from observing that being extremely clear with the instructions can make small groups run a lot more smoothly. I observed for a teacher once who let the kids do their own thing with really no list of clear instructions.

Do what works for you and your kiddos! Don’t feel like you have to change your entire reading instruction if you are not ready! Take the time needed for your particular group of kids and give VERY explicit direction. Class Dojo helps for behavior management! #1stchat

So true! I take a lot of time practicing. I even practice me sitting "pretending" to have a small group with me so that kids learn to problem solve instead of interrupting me. #1stchat
A3: I have started putting qr codes with directions or a short lesson and then directions for practice so the kids can listen to remember what to do and not interrupt me. My kinders have a hard time remembering directions for each center #1stchat

I've made buncees with a short video or lesson and then yes just record me showing them what to do. I also give directions on seesaw and print out the qr code and put it with the center work. I have many choices so it's helping them to be independent #1stchat
A4 My students are loving journaling about the books they read, creating a book of their own also finding word work featured words and writing down. #1stchat
I have made choice boards and trained Ss on each thing they can do during centers. They have each set goals and work on those goals #1stchat here's an example
Q4 I started doing "where do the sentences end" for writing which has helped my kiddos find where the punctuation needs to be! I've seen SO much progress in their ability to create complete sentences #1stchat

A4: my Ss love reading the “newspaper”, Scholastic News. We also do paper coding (thanks @lekadegroot ) I just got ozobots that I will intro soon. #1stchat
Very simple, use arrows from “point A” to the end of the maze. favorite was when they made their own for gingerbread man. Draw 2 treats & 1 “enemy” and let their friends solve the puzzle. I put them in sheet protectors so they can be used over & over. #1stchat
A5 I only do one rotation a day for math rotations. I have four ability based groups. We do Moby Max, math fluency, math games/puzzles, and meet with teacher #1stchat
Our school has a license for Moby Max! You can set up skill checkers assignments for math and ELA that are standard specific. I use benchmark and placement assessments for my data points to show growth markers #1stchat
Not really... My groups are small. Usually 2-3 kids working. They have choices in math tasks so that only kids who want to work on are working. #1stchat
I think that depends on how you have centers set up, but if Ss are working and engaged does it really matter? That's what I ask myself when designing things #1stchat
Not sure if there is time limit... it depends on students and tasks. Ex. I have some students who can work on the number scroll for 30 min. Some can build with pattern blocks for a long time. Others LOVE work sheets. That's why choices are very important. #1stchat
It depends on your class. I’ve had classes that had to switch every 10 minutes, some could do 20 minutes. But i try to push them a little each time to increase their stamina. #1stchat
