This twitter chat stands for "Wins And Losses Ed Chat" and will be a chat where students reflect on the previous week to celebrate victories and reflect on losses to turn them into victories.
Intros: Welcome to #waledchat! Introduce yourself, where you are from, your role in education, and tag a new friend you'd like to see join you here tonight! #waledchat
Hi #waledchat I'm Jori and I'm a #edchat fanatic. When I'm not on Twitter, I teach HS English in Northern CA - (@Hippycatlover you should chat with us tonight!)
Seth here! First time joining in on #waledchat . I'm a preservice teacher studying at Grove City College. Excited to learn from all of your experience.
Intro: Shelly Andrews, AP for the mighty Bulldogs of James Wood Middle in Winchester, VA home of the upcoming Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival! #waledchat@scnoel22
Intros: Welcome to #waledchat! Introduce yourself, where you are from, your role in education, and tag a new friend you'd like to see join you here tonight! #waledchat
A1: Procedures set expectations and allow for things to run smoothly. Could you imagine always having to bake a cake without knowing a recipe? Procedures give our students a recipe to success in the classroom! #waledchat
A1: Procedures ensure that students have a safe experience. Our lesson plans can bring the fun, but we need to take care of our students' well-being above all else. #waledchat
A1: Procedures set the table for the entire school year. I spend about 2-3 weeks on procedures and team building only. No curriculum. Need to make sure we can do the basic before introducing the hardcore material. #waledchat
Because they provide the structure that lets us get down to the real business of learning - I spend a few weeks at the beg of school estab and prac procedures - saves SO much time later #waledchat
A1: Kids need structure, and to know what to do. Procedures don’t limit kids, they just allow flow of the classroom and provide an environment of expected behaviors. Procedures are needed for productive learning! #waledchat
A1: My first semester teaching, I was so overwhelmed with it all that I didn’t take the time to explicitly teach them. Little things drove me nuts! Being clear about how my classroom runs has definitely saved my sanity this time around #waledchat
A1 classroom procedures are your foundation, they are the best way to optimize learning by having structure for Ss that help set the expectations. This in some cases can make or break a lesson #waledchat
A1: Procedures help everyone understand expectations, learn and follow routines, develop healthy patterns of development. Especially for Ss who struggle with executive functioning, other needs and ESLs. #waledchat
A1: Procedures are important for two main reasons: to limit the loss of instructional time, and to model executive functioning skills so that our Ss can be successful in and out of school. #waledchat
A1: This is the foundation for student growth. It removes barriers to student learning and helps with expectations for all students inside and outside of the classroom. #waledchat
A1: Procedures are an important part of establishing "flow" in the classroom. They should be guides to student success; more than rules in disguise.
#waledchat
A2: Procedures provide Ss with a level playing field. All students have equal opportunity to succeed regardless of prior knowledge or expectations of an educational setting. #waledchat
A1: it helps the flow of class so more time can be devoted to learning. It also lets kids know what you expect so there aren’t any surprises #waledchat
Intros: Welcome to #waledchat! Introduce yourself, where you are from, your role in education, and tag a new friend you'd like to see join you here tonight! #waledchat
A2: Without consistent procedures in place, students will not understand the expectations. The class environment must be set up so that students can be productive and learn effectively. #waledchat
A1: Procedures are important to set the tone of the classroom. They help a class to run smoothly, maintain a healthy and safe environment, and ensure that students can get into a routine that will help them be successful #waledchat
A1: setting procedures in place at the jump makes for a much easier year down the road. By the end of the year I am able to have Ss facilitate learning in a collaborative way. #waledchat
A1: Procedures provide Ss with a level playing field. All students have equal opportunity to succeed regardless of prior knowledge or expectations of an educational setting. #waledchat
A1: procedures provide consistency and structure. They can solve issues before hey begin and allow Ss to focus on learning the content rather than figuring out the unknown. #waledchat
A1 Students procedures and routines to feel safe, secure and what is expected. My Spec Ed S's particularly need the structure that comes from procedures #waledchat
A1 Whew without procedures it's hard to be accountable. If we don't know what, how, or why, why should we do what is needed? It's the foundation to our great year! #WaledChat
A1: Procedures create the class expectations and basic structure. Having a solid foundation to build the classroom "house" upon results in a "happy family" of learning. #waledchat
A1. Clear procedures help guide students AND teachers! We set the expectations, students have the guidelines to follow! As a new teacher, I feel like my area of weakness is fluctuating between intense procedures, and ones that are too lax. #waledchat
A1: procedures are important because Ss then know what the expectations are. Once the routines and procedures have been established, the relationships can be built and academics can be taught. #waledchat#LoveLiteracyLearning
A1: Hi I’m late! Tracy @Simmonsknights1 Principal from Oak Lawn, IL Having procedures that promote health, safety and respect for all Ss and Ts are important in every classroom. Those will vary based on the setting. #waledchat
Yes, and it helped so much when I finally realized that I couldn't assume ANYthing when it came to students' understanding of my expectations #waledchat
A1 Procedures take out the guesswork. Ss know the expectations and it is easier to teach when Ss know what is expected. Procedures help Ss to become independent. #waledchat
#waledchat A1: Not big on rules, but procedures are a little more mild. Procedures give a sense of routine and hopefully, ownership for Ss. What can they count on? What they do on their own? Procedures are the things that just "happen."
A2: the expectation that you will work in my room. I expect Ss best effort and they know they can’t get away without doing anything. I tell them this is because I know they are capable but they have to put forth the effort in order to succeed #waledchat
A1~builds community, predictability for all levels of learners, breeds consistency for all stakeholders which fosters all kinds of success - small&large , Ss thrive in settings w/clearly defined, mutually set procedures #waledchat
A1: maximizes learning time because routines become habitual rather than instructional, keeps everyone safe (physically and emotionally and socially) ss know what to expect so they are less likely to “misbehave.” #waledchat
A1: Procedures are necessary for a classroom to function. Students need patterns in their daily schedules. Pre-determined guidelines for what is to happen during class time helps students be more focused when it comes time to learn. #waledchat
A2: Per @burgessdave recommendation in #tlap, I now give my Ss all the papers they will need at the start of class. Every paper has a num. so when they walk in they see the warm up Q and what papers they need for the day. HUGE success! #waledchat
A2: My students are conditioned to come in and do bell work on their Chromebooks. It ensures that there is no lost instructional time and gets them immediately thinking about the lesson's content or reflecting on the previous day. #waledchat
Not crazy at all--what do Ss do when they enter class, how/when do Ss turn in papers, what to Ss do when they are absent, how do you want Ss to form into groups, those everyday tasks in a normal class day #waledchat
A2: Being an #edtech coach, procedures are a big part of every lesson I do. The key to teaching any tool is to give just enough that procedures lead to discovery along the way, not just become more directions.
#waledchat
A2: As a 4th grade teacher, I realize lots of instructional time can be lost with transitions, so I have my students clean up, line up, pack up quickly and efficiently. It takes a bit of time and practice and review, but so worth it! #waledchat
A2: One of the most crucial ways we learn is through discussion, so early on, we establish norms for how we'll talk and listen to each other #waledchat
A2: Creating to do lists! Whether they write it down, or have it in their head. Students know what they have to do, and have some what of a plan to get it done. #waledchat
A2: creating a community of interdependent learners. We have practiced how to question each other, disagree, express frustration, find space, and even how to respond to a community member falling down/dropping supplies. @responsiveclass-amazing at teaching routines! #waledchat
A2 I am reteaching procedures this week. This is Day 4 since I returned from medical leave. I am focusing on what to do during blended learning stations. That way I can deliver small group instruction. #waledchat
A1. Procedures are necessary to set expectations in the classroom! They ensure a safe learning environment, and let our Ss know expected behaviors, procedures for emergencies, accountability and learning! #waledchat
A2: I recently worked with a student teacher to help her modify the morning routine with her second graders. They are now journaling with the extra time! The efficiency has created the opportunity for learning and reflection. #waledchat
A2 Our arrival structure works well: S's arrive, greetings, complete agendas, leave completed work on desks for marking, get agendas signed (all things organized right away) Morning meeting etc. #waledchat
A2: We have many procedures in the building that the students follow. Can be something as mundane as an arrival or dismissal procedure. We set clear expectations and involve students so they feel ownership #waledchat
A2 when I was in #physed w/class sizes up to 70-80 we used squad lines w/junior coaches & hand signals for transitions. We also had signals for pairing up, huddling up, etc. #waledchat
A2: Morning meetings to build conversation skills and set the stage for the day. At the start of each class, the tasks and sequence is written on the board, students know the materials needed for specific activities. #waledchat
A2- My first class of the day has done really well with coming in, signing up for lunch, and getting to work on their chromebooks while chatting as they wait for announcements and start of day. Done so well with it that Ss now take lunch count and attendance #waledchat
A2: Since I don't have a classroom of my own I personally haven't taught anything. With that the preschool here has the students turn in tags before washing hands. We take this as an opportunity to go over the shapes as well #waledchat
A2: Resubmitting work to show improvement. It takes until now for ss to realize that they could have an A if they work for it. But once they get it, I have a huge pile of resubmitted assignments to reevaluate! #waledchat
A2) One procedure that I think I have instilled in my students is morning work thereby making use of the morning time, but also how to respond and give feedback to presentations. #waledchat
A1: Thank Katie. Yeah that's what I thought it meant. Not a natural procedure person. A bit like water - fill the holes and get it done. Have options. Keep it simple. #waledchat
A2~morning meeting w/greetings, setting goals & intentions for the day & a shared physical movement activity @GoNoodle 😊Big hit w/the littles first block of the day😊sets the tone for a team work kind of day #bettertogether 👍#waledchat
A1. Procedures are important to build a comfortable culture where students know what is expected. At the same time, we should create so many procedures that our classroom becomes overly compliance based... #waledchat
Once you establish the expectations for classroom culture and build relationships, the routines will fall in place. Ss won’t learn from people they don’t trust. Ss know when Ts genuinely care. #waledchat#LoveLiteracyLearning
A2 When Ss enter class they have a few mins to chat, but once the door closes they need to be quiet, writing down the agenda, & working on Bellringer. This allows me time to check w/ absent Ss, put up videos or lecture slides, and gather myself for class #waledchat
#waledchat A2: Ss are in groups of 3 or 4 to start class....T organized...kept for a quarter. Class begins with those groups going over homework together. They start class without me. Establishes ownership and initiative. Also, generosity and kindness by helping and sharing.
A2. I don't have much advice to give on this topic as a preservice teacher. Main thing I am gathering from replies is the importance of smooth transitions so valuable time is not lost. So much valuable information being shared. #waledchat
A2: its a little thing but "body basics" while sitting at my table. I don't want students laying their head down so I teach them the term means sitting up, with hands on table or lap, feet down or criss cross applesauce in chair. We have 30 min. no sleeping. #waledchat
Q1: Time. With time so short, procedures help streamline once their taught effectively, leaving plenty of time for student engagement, less teacher directed. #waledchat
A3: this year I did not place a huge emphasis on organization. I set up my organizational structure as usual but did not follow up with Ss as much as usual and it led to Ss not always having what they needed. #waledchat
A2. In theatre, especially community-based theatre, we learn that RITUAL is key to success for all artists. I want to work on establishing routines that repeat always – this can totally work for things like objectives and setting up class. #waledchat
A2: We have interactive notebooks. They know that after QOD they get out their notebook. While I pass out the page, they update the table of contents, and when we’re done they glue anything in. It sounds little but it’s amazing to watch how smoothly notes go!!! #waledchat
A2 One of the biggest is transition and "wait time" We work on moving quickly and purposefully to save time. Also, if I'm interrupted, the expectation is that they complete a specific task dependent upon which subject we're in. LOL not perfect, but work in progress #WaledChat
Kids need movement throughout the day, way to incorporate that into your day for optimal learning, because PA primes the brain for learning #waledchat check out @OPENPhysEd too
In reply to
@ChristineBemis2, @GoNoodle, @OPENPhysEd
Never be afraid to admit something isn’t working. When that happens, talk to the kids...see why it isn’t working. Chat with colleagues...see what they think. Then change based on what you hear. With time, you’ll hit your groove.
Writing a post for Edutopia for this, so I've been thinking about it a lot :) We start with brainstorming a T-chart on "Respect Looks Like/ Respect Sound Like" It helps them to develop the guidelines and see them in a concrete way. This is just the 1st thing we do . . #waledchat
A3: I really wanted to work in the idea of having "Family Meetings" - I would yell "Family" and all the kids would sit on the tables, knowing that we needed to discuss something serious. We still have those times, but there's no set procedure for jumping into it. #waledchat
A3: At the end of our notes everyday I have my students answer some overarching questions. I find many students are not completing them when I ask. Pretty frustrating at points. #waledchat
A1: Policies and procedures, policies and procedures and again. When these are clear, precise, and repeated, the ground work is set for a respectful, loving classroom where s’s can feel safe to participate, question, be engaged & learn #waledchat
#waledchat A1 procedures make all comfortable. Ever go to a cafe and wonder, do I clear my table or do they? Ss feel that discomfort when procedures are unclear.
Q2. Putting their school email and google apps on their phone.I get emailed questions at all hours. It makes for easy replies and gives them the confidence to then ask me in class. #waledchat
A3) Pencil sharpening, I wanted Ss to trade pencils and keep track of their pencils with writing initials on their pencils but the initials rub off and kids loose them, leave them on the floor or want to sharpen in the middle of class #waledchat
A2: lab procedures/expectations. If I set a firm foundation at the beginning of the year, by the end of the year students are able to self facilitateown labs and discussions through hands in learning successfully #waledchat
A1: procedures are important to help students that need to focus. Students that have 504 plans and students with IEPs thrive when they know what to expect every lesson, every day #waledchat
A2: Giving each student a #. They are #ed in ABC order. It’s so helpful w/lining up (no arguing), organizing their work (in #ed mailboxes) & w/emergency drills (faster to call by #than name—of course, I call my kids by their name on any other day! #waledchat
A3: I started the year with a bell ringer question, my focus shifted to engagement and changing lessons. I tend to focus on new things so much that I neglect other things. #waledchat
#waledchat A3: having Ss put problems on the board that their group couldn't help with. It allowed them to "quit" sooner and wait to get spoon-fed. I will NOT have a T-led class when reviewing homework!
Thanks for supporting a student teacher! I try not to forget that the FIRST part of my title is "student" – which means I'm always learning :) #waledchat
A2: I recently worked with a student teacher to help her modify the morning routine with her second graders. They are now journaling with the extra time! The efficiency has created the opportunity for learning and reflection. #waledchat
A3: Not really S problem, but my problem. I changed how I was teaching so organization changed also. It isn't always flowing the best. I need to rethink and get a better flow going for me and my S. #waledchat
A2 We have a laptop cart. The Ss are used to coming in, getting their laptops and going to @MicrosoftTeams. This routine has saved so much class time. They are awesome about returning the laptops at a he end of the class. #waledchat
A1: I do full inclusion. If I draw a line at entering quiet, what happens to the Ss w/no vocal control. If I limit bathroom breaks how does the Ss with Anxiety cope? Behavior is communication. #waledchat
A3: My whiteboard warm ups. I loved them, and wanted to create more conversation to begin the class period. It was a great way to transition into work mode but also allow the Ss to chat for a second before we got down to business. #waledchat
That is so hard for my Ss! They just want me to help them right away. Struggling w/ trying to answer on own or using resources frustrates so many Ss, but I try really hard to stick to this. #waledchat
A2: I really like being able to engage the students with vocab practice playing @quizlet live. This has also helped with collaboration and communication with peers #waledchat
I need to implement this. It makes me crazy when we're having an in-depth discussion and a student raises their hand and I get ready for them to contribute and they ask "Can I go to the bathroom?" . . . #waledchat#no
A3: right now?! How to keep my tape, scissors, and string out of the #RubeGoldberg mess!!! The mess isn’t quite as bad as last year, but I’ve lost my masking tape. For good! It sounds silly, but a lot of class time has been wasted looking for these things!!! #waledchat
A3: A procedure that I have taught that did not turn into a routine as well as I had hoped is the teacher end of a universal check in routine. #waledchat
A3 I have a couple of students who get pulled at times that don't work well with our schedule, keeping them following our routines is tricky, they get pulled on odd days of schedule ☹️ #waledchat
Transitions are always rough for my little impulsiverinos. Where they aren't running from us anymore, they still screw with everyone they pass. #waledchat
A3: I didn’t do as good of a job explaining the importance of working as a group. They seemed to already get along so well, but I’ve seen that there are different some areas of improvement. #waledchat
Most of my background is in community-based theatre – in that room, it is essential to have complete emotional trust for one another. It isn't unlike a classroom that is discussion-based! #waledchat
A3~ lining up chants and songs... this year they do not seem to work ~ the littles would rather keep working, building, creating, chatting then leave the classroom- some days funnier than others 😂#waledchat
Q3: Hand signals. I had hand signals to represent different needs. Questions 👆🏿, discussion ideas ✊🏽, bathroom 🤞🏽. I didn’t stick to them so the Ss didn’t. #waledchat
A3: Managing to keep our classroom technology charged and ready to use. We use them for an inconsistent amount of time. I find us running for plugs throughout the day. #waledchat
Walking to lunch. We used to walk down together no more than two wide quietly. Started letting them go on their own and there was yelling and jumping up to hit door frames. With a little re teaching though they are doing much better !! #waledchat
A2: I have a visual schedule for students to check where they should be for Daily 5. If a student is confused where they need to be, all I have to say is "Check the Look Board!" #waledchat
I'm usually fine tuning procedures all year, but one that I have yet to master is portfolios - saving student work so they can reflect on growth #waledchat
Thanks! I learned quickly, the fewer the steps the more successful things became. Pointing out the positives of the procedure made a difference as well.
#waledchat
A4: We we go 1:1 next year I am going to have students answer 1 big overarching question to the notes in @flipgrid, and then I'll be able to watch them to assess mastery. Thoughts? #waledchat
A4. Making sure that all stakeholders have a say in the process and understand that it is the best interest of kids. Making sure that is always in the forefront of our minds. #waledchat
A4: Fixing that won't necessarily create a more structured classroom, but it would create a more loving and empathetic one. I'm hoping to make it stick next year. #waledchat
A2: how to handle making mistakes. We reframe our way of thinking and speaking. Builds a #growthmindset Our Ss add “YET” to a statement about something that may seem difficult. Ex) I can’t do this becomes “I can’t do this yet”. #waledchat#LoveLiteracyLearning
A3: Reflections after assessments. I really believe that students grow when they reflect and I have to do a better job at giving them the time and opportunities in class to reflect #waledchat
A4: I have a plan to revisit the routine and to practice a script for it so that teachers are more comfortable with it. I also have a plan to streamline teacher duties at beginning of day. #waledchat
I wonder if there is a way we could get ms Ss to a point where they are responsible enough to just get up and go use the restroom on their own without asking and without having 15 kids in the restroom at a time #waledchat
A3: Same answer as A2. I always have the holdouts in every class who *refuse* to write down the agenda and Bellringer. They chat or spaceout during this time. #waledchat
A4: Really dedicating some time to it, and moving it up on my to do list. Sometimes things get lost in all the madness, but it’s the small things that make things run smoothly. #waledchat
A4: Just like all great lessons and projects... the best procedures start with thinking of students first. Put them first and even involve them in the creation/implementation. It's whole new world...
#waledchat
A4 I can't change the students schedule so I put a timer on the smart board to remind me five minutes before departure to make sure he is organized #waledchat
A3 Showing all of our strategies during math. I watched my Ss have their shock and awe over a few problems, but also noticed that they didn't show their work. I thought that might be their a-ha moment...Nope. #WaledChat
I used to have individual boxes for Ss to keep their material. That got hard, but now with me keeping I don't get everything put away. I have a little nook of a space and have to figure out what will work. May have to go back to individual boxes. #waledchat
A4: Just like all great lessons and projects... the best procedures start with thinking of students first. Put them first and even involve them in the creation/implementation. It's whole new world...
#waledchat
A3: We try to have the kids walk along the blue lines on the right (they are wide). They are not always into it. I always joke that they look like an offensive line. I tell them you need to learn this if you want to drive-that helps! #waledchat
This made me think of another area I need to work on. Last year, I was much better at getting the Ss to see the need to come with their laptops charge. This year I didn’t make as big of a deal. Don’t know why. #waledchat
A3: Managing to keep our classroom technology charged and ready to use. We use them for an inconsistent amount of time. I find us running for plugs throughout the day. #waledchat
A4: if I am more intentional about reflections and can make that a part of the assessment, we can talk about it the next day when we go over the assessment. #waledchat
A4: Really dedicating some time to it, and moving it up on my to do list. Sometimes things get lost in all the madness, but it’s the small things that make things run smoothly. #waledchat
I wonder if there is a way we could get ms Ss to a point where they are responsible enough to just get up and go use the restroom on their own without asking and without having 15 kids in the restroom at a time #waledchat
Got some stuff done and decided to jump in. Off day due to a rough walkthrough this morning. Wanted to add to @Flood1Tracy that saying goodbye is as important as greeting. I feel like I’m rushing Ss out but I like to thank Ss and tell them to have a good daytoo. #waledchat
A3: We were going to do this IXL diagnostic every Friday, record your scores, and practice a skill it recommends based on your performance. It should take 5 minutes to update and give them all this differentiated support. Ss hate it and it has fallen by the wayside. #waledchat
A4: Increasing student responsibility to their assigned materials and technology. Ownership and how it connects to their learning is important. #waledchat
That's awesome. We do team points, too. Unfortunately, some Ss aren't as helpful to their other team members as it sounds like yours are. I like the idea of allowing *them* to put the points on the board--I can see how that motivates them more! TY for the idea! #waledchat
Maybe. But safety is one of my concerns. If something happens, I need to know who is out of the room. I use a sign out, but I still prefer to see them. & I have a couple who try clandestine meet ups. #waledchat
A4: This week I purposefully had them work on activities that they accomplished as a group. I heard many Ss say today, “Remember Mr. Hayes said we are a team. We need to work together.” #waledchat
A3 Not disturbing small group. I even mark off the small group area with painter’s tape as a visual reminder. I think that I need to look closely at what I have assigned them for centers to make sure it is engaging and rigorous enough. #waledchat
I used to take my Ss to the cafeteria to teach them how to enter, get food, sit, clean-up, and be dismissed from lunch. Another T asked me why I "wasted the time" doing this. After 2 weeks, that T realized why. #neverassumetheyknow#waledchat
Well, I think I can maybe put the responsibility more into their hands to keep and track their work and growth, but this needs to be frontloaded like all good procedures #waledchat
A3: Since I work with K-5, I’ve tried various ways of having Ss that I work with turn items into me- Ex.) by giving them to their Ts. I found it was much easier to have a basket in my room where they can directly drop items off themselves. #waledchat#LoveLiteracyLearning
A5: One of my routines every year is to watch every pick of the NFL draft. I am a HUGE college football fan (Go Penn State!) and it is fun to see where these kids land and wish them the best!
I may or may not have been watching the draft during our chat tonight... #waledchat
A5: Friday nights are super exciting - laundry night! Saturdays are for taking our son to see his grandparents, Sundays are always house work days. This Sunday we start a new backyard project! #waledchat
A4 Continue to model and have them write a reflection sentence on what they could have done differently on problems they missed and what helped them find success in problems they have correct. #WaledChat
A5: Accountabilabuddy time with a former co-worker and close friend. This involves a few "sodas" and reflecting on the wins and losses we experienced since our last meeting. Very necessary, especially at this time of year. #waledchat
A4a: This is not a classroom routine but a personal routine. Last year I was better about having lunch with several Ss (especially ones I don’t teach anymore) to see how they are doing. #waledchat
A4: sometimes it’s not just one thing. I find what works for some doesn’t always work for others even in organization. I try to go with the flow and if a student needs something a bit different we work together. #waledchat
A5: This weekend brings a tennis match and a technology session... On the personal side, I'm looking forward to getting the motorcycle out and hitting the gym.
#waledchat
A1: I practice, earthquakes, lock down, clearing the yard asap, quiet halls (so we don't wake the PreK), and if you're raising your hand and you really gotta go and I don't see you, just go, we'll figure it out later - and I'm sorry about that. #waledchat
A5: My Saturday morning routine! My roommate and I always enjoy being able to slowly eat our breakfast and watch some TV without having to leave at a specific time. Definitely a great way to start my weekend! #waledchat
A4: Sometimes you have to weigh the time spent vs. the outcome. My IXL update became something Ss avoided at all costs, and since they weren’t buying in, they weren’t getting much out of it. There are plenty of other ways to differentiate. I was okay letting it go. #waledchat
A5: routine of a few Twitter chats, time to putter, some chores, church and now that the weather is getting nice adding in a new routine of a weekend hike. #waledchat
A5: for my students I always format bump them and say “make good choices” as they walk out and Monday’s we talk about our weekends in Spanish. For me... lots of grad school homework and @TITLEBoxingClub classes 🥊🤗 #waledchat
A5: I wish this was more exciting but I do Laundry every Saturday. I enjoy doing it though which is strange. Also attending a local church on Sunday and then reflecting during my brunch. I really enjoy that part as well #waledchat
True! I fee the same. But maybe even if we could get them to a point where they can get up, sign out, and go. Maybe even recognize if there is someone already out on the sign out list they have to wait. But that my cause "hey I was next!" Hmmmm... #waledchat
A5 Cheering my younger 2 on in their bowling league, my older 1 in soccer, and chat time with my oldest who's off in the AF. #WaledChat#WeekendFamilyTime
If they get to the point of being helpful, praise the heck out of it! And ask them if they themselves know it better after trying to explain it. (They will.) By the end of the year, they'll realize that helping others actually helps themselves! Head AND heart! #waledchat
A4. Dedicating time for clean-up, modeling with Ss the importance of doing their part and cleaning up after themselves and returing things back to their proper places! #waledchat
Oh, my goodness - SO much yes. I ride my bike every Sunday morning, then sit at a coffee shop til I've read and responded to all of the student writing from that week. And then Sunday night is #aplitchat to get me excited for Monday #waledchat
A5: Sleep, read, and if NY weather decides on sun...rather than sleet, snow, torrential rain, high speed winds....walk and enjoy the outdoors. #waledchat
A1: I love how my classroom changes from D2D--some days chaotic, loud, some days quiet, focused. Having strong procedures help you to have both of those things..sometimes even in the same period. #waledchat
What is this dream like? My two human alarm clocks (masculine child 1 and masculine child 2) are up at 6:30 every day. I guess they're conditioned in this routine. #waledchat
A4b: This year I still eat with Ss but it is not as purposeful as last year. I’ve learned that a few Ss could have used my help had I made it a point to join them for lunch. #waledchat
A5. Even as a college student, I know weekends are so important. Take time to relax and recover from the last week. But also take time to prep for the next week to make Monday less stressful. #waledchat
Love this idea. I’ll be using @Flipgrid for the 1st time next week. I’m learning so many things that can be done through @Flipgrid. I might have to try this next year as well! #waledchat
In reply to
