A1 instructional coaching is about knowing what Ts need & when & how to provide it-about realtionships https://t.co/YKGp8YY3Z6
A1. Instructional coaching focuses on guiding the coachee in a reflective practice to gauge S needs & T impact.
A1: Instructional Coaching is engaging in reflective practices with Ts to support both T and S growth
A1 instructional coaching starts with strong relationships-knowing when to coach hard or soft depends on it
A1:IC begins w relationships and trust its customized support and coll. to match T needs and interests with whats best for s
A1-Someone providing feedback and direction only when needed with a purpose.
A1 It's about having all the right questions and not necessarily all the right answers. Getting teachers to become reflective
yes-knowing Ts needs as well as interests is key https://t.co/v2KEq3uTz2
A1:IC begins w relationships and trust its customized support and coll. to match T needs and interests with whats best for s
so true! Good coaching doesn't require you to be a master of ALL content
I like your deff. you don't have to have the title to be a coach
A1: Instructional coaching is about being a committed listener!
Sorry never did intro. Jason from New York. Assistant principal in high school
key is knowing when to step in and step back
I like that you said guiding into reflection. So key!
one of the biggest traits..being a good listener
A1: there is a motivational aspect. The coach is a champion for her players & they know it & are inspired to put in the work.
agree! find that listening key to knowing root issues-when we presume we know answers we may miss out https://t.co/EBeWg0BC86
one of the biggest traits..being a good listener
agreeded, it's important that the coach ensures coaching is non-evaluative, its about meeting T where they are
Totally and not trying to solve for the T while they are talking. Just be in the moment with them
Love the coach/teacher champion idea!
A2 coaches help Ts understand the data and sift through "noise"-use info to make instructional moves https://t.co/s8pqsuovOb
A2 I think anytime you can get a teacher to embrace a new defective piece of technology that may elevate their practice
, a1, support, build on strengths, build confidence and reflections, always begin with positives.
A2. Coaches help Ts understand standards, ways to engage Ss through various instructional strategies. Coaches are supports!
A2: IC can co-plan, co-teach with Ts to impact student achievement
Got to run. Have a great night
A2-From my experience, being able to listen w/o judgement or comment helps us vent...we are only human...gets it off our chest
absolutely. Teaching is hard work. We all need someone there 2 encourage us to keep moving forward.
agreed! We can't forget to begin with the standards!
, a2, data, focus on standards as opposed to materials, support PLCs, empower teachers to use data and professional judgement.
so true-Coaches provide a safe space for Ts-so important to help Ts vent then move to solutions https://t.co/Aabe0wsKQv
A2-From my experience, being able to listen w/o judgement or comment helps us vent...we are only human...gets it off our chest
so true. If we can master this we can then get to the instructional piece
yes!!! Thank you! Standards and curriculum/materials are not the same!!
If we frame everything we do through the lens of what's best for students every decesion becomes a little bit easier
A2: the most valuable resource an IC offers is an open door. Providing the safe space to share ideas, struggles, and q's is key
A2:a sounding board to bounce ideas off, co planning, co-teaching a person to help you grow as a t
A3: Coaches share the leadership too! Find ways for Ts to share strengths within school, district, etc
A3: Help take something off a Ts plate so the T may engage in prof learning by particpating or leading
A3: IC(s) create teacher leaders by expanding the toolbox of educators. Build capacity, build leaders. https://t.co/GsLcZIZ1Xt
A3. Coaches are leaders. They can encourage & engage others in meaningful risk taking, leading PD, supporting Ps.
A3The best thing a coach can do it work themselves out of a job...it's a coaches obligation to build T capacity and leadership
Coaches help identify and build teacher leaders-they work side by side to support & nurture leaders https://t.co/yDuTOCcA6B
Thank you for facilitating on coaching tonight! Great topic! :-)
A3 coaches know bigger picture & can help guide T ldrs to support others to reach vision & goals https://t.co/yDuTOCcA6B
, a3, a big role, empowering teachers to share strengths, bringing others to visit classrooms to see strengths. Collaboration!
Nailed it! coach yourself out of a job is the goal! https://t.co/JIkXJhrQFf
