Q1: What is one thing about your school you think the teachers or administrators don't know?
maybe a chat explaining how to listen to ... they're using it, but we may not be listening
Andrew here, home in Kentucky for a brief "break" before traveling to our Nation's Capital Friday!
A1: I knew how to cheat, how to skip class, which teachers gave easy A's, and which teachers were more than a little bit mean.
Happy to see co-hosting this chat. A major organization fighting to amplify classroom voices around school reform!
A1: That in group work, more often than not, your mark is the mark of the most hardworking student, not your work
Q2: What is one thing teachers could be taught by their students? @PanoramaEd
They don't know WHY their students are coming to school every day. If they did, school would be different.
I had many teachers who didn't know how to use social media so let's start there? Most just knee jerk ban it.

Teachers need a fuller understanding of how the hate in our 2016 election affects classroom dynamics. Students are scared.
A2: Self-directed doesn't mean that the work has no direction, just a different one

teachers could learn more about what's working and not working in the classroom from students before the test results.

Q3: How can students better understand the various factors that go into decisions teachers make?
. Just heard Arianna Huffington discuss how she wants to encourage movements to start schools later. Up your alley!
In my experience, when Students are engaged in the design of lessons the participate, learn, and appreciate the content more.
Students genuinely understand the world around them, more than most teachers realize. Regardless of grade, they infantize info
A3 Ask your teachers...your genuine curiosity will more often than not bring great dialogue
Recently visited CA and was able to experience 's handiwork up close. Lot's to learn from his advocacy!
Q4: How can students develop stronger classroom relationships with their teachers?
Recently traveling speaking with students all over US. Biggest takeaway--convenings between Ss, Ts, and Admin are productive
A4 I have always made it a point to help my teachers after school. Whether cleaning classrooms or tutoring younger students.
Wondering if has any qualitative data collection as part of their process. If not, I think this change is a MUST.
YES! important feedback. Now let's get these Ss to see the connection between voices being heard & changes being made!

Are y'all linking student participation in your surveys to overall/sustained self efficacy?
Q5: What is one thing that represents a positive and negative school culture, respectively?
Negative school culture when Ts report their student don't want to learn but Ss say the opposite!
Positive school climate when Student report having multiple trusted adults they can reach out to
Postivie: When teachers become trusted confidants of students and vice versa. Negative: no trust.
