Tonight on #sdedchat we will be sharing out some tools and resources you can take and use tomorrow. I'll post each as a question. Your responses can be ideas you have on how to use it, questions, or other similar tools. Please-- share YOUR favorite tools and resources too!
Q1: @edpuzzle Create your own videos OR use videos from YouTube, Crash Course, National Geographic (etc). Add audio or text notes. Embed quiz questions (multiple choice - autograded w/ feedback option or short answer). Prevent skipping. #sdedchat
Q2: @WeVideo Ss create parody of a reality tv show using subject area content - for example, my classes had to showcase their understanding of the Periodic Table / elements. One group used The Bachelor &each contestant was a diff element trying to “bond” w the bachelor! #sdedchat
Q3: Google Expeditions Check out the world in 3D by going on a guided Google Earth adventure! You could use VR goggles as well. I’ve found VR goggles as cheap as $7.99 on Amazon. #sdedchat
@edpuzzle is a game changer. I remember being introduced to that several years back. @DMooreSpanish always had kids working on leveled activities in her Spanish class using this tool. Great way to customize learning for a diverse classroom. #sdedchat

Q4: @ThingLink You infuse information into a picture document. Kiddos click on each bubble to read information on a topic OR kids create information on a bubble regarding a topic. Super easy to use! #sdedchat
We did something with Google Expeditions several years back. Terrific experience! There are so many resources available now that can take kids out the classroom without even leaving their seats. #sdedchat
@PearDeck . Sometimes I do it in the beginning to see what they know, other times in the middle to see what is missed, other times as review, whole group or student paced with the answers too. On the spot questions and diff kinds of ? make this the best form assess. #sdedchat
How about @padlet ? Do any of you use that? I've heard they might start charging $$$ but it's a great way for kids to share ideas, build timelines, and create/share information! We've used it for Mastery projects and discussions #sdedchat
Q5: @InsertLearning You can go to any website and embed questions, videos, discussions, and post-it notes. Kiddos can answer the questions, watch the videos, participate in the discussion, and read the notes provided. As Ts you can grade the work done on the website. #sdedchat

Love @edpuzzle! I used it recently for a video I used as a hook for a problem-based teaching unit. I got some surprise answers that led to a teachable moment I couldn't pass up. #sdedchat

Q6: Adobe Spark Page It’s a really clean and impressive way for students to present information they’ve learned on a topic. Text and pictures are presented in a way that flows very nicely. The information can be published with a URL link. #sdedchat
Hahahahaha! I used to drive to a sketchy neighborhood to buy spicy pickles and cheap meats. I would always get teased about that by the teachers from my old school. The pickles were amazing; the meats, spoiled. :/ #sdedchat
I used padlet when I taught Computer Sci. last trimester. Kids really liked it. Had a student do the moderating. Sounds like free accounts will have a few boards. #sdedchat
Q7: Face Time with George Washington using @WeVideo We were trying to find a new way to get kids excited about learning about the American Revolution. Danielle and I were hashing out what they enjoyed doing and that’s how we came up with FaceTiming. #sdedchat
#sdedchat
I love @edpuzzle. I am emailing EdPuzzle Coach and use it all the time. I like to use it in a PBL format where the puzzles walk kids through steps of creating an actual project.

Really....
I may need to pick your brain on this. I don't use an LMS right now.
We do not have SBG but I want to set up gradebook to be mock SBG... #sdedchat

The only downside is that @Schoology and Infinite Campus do not sync grades...but if you do SBG, you'll be fine. I can show you what I do...it's not perfect, but I am trying! #sdedchat

It's pretty amazing. Back in the day, @DMooreSpanish and Megan Patti would use @goformative to change things up from time to time. Loved being able to see what the students are doing real-time and provide feedback. #sdedchat

Q9: Faux Snapchat via Google Slides. Once again, we were trying to find a new way to sell the American Revolution. Snapchat was the solution but because of privacy laws and district policies, we had to think outside the box. #sdedchat

My interpretation is that you use whatever tool you want to create memes. Could be Google Drawing or even @canva (another one of my alltime favorite tech tools) #sdedchat

Q10: Book Creator Book Creator is open-ended, creative and cross curriculum. Create your own teaching resources or have your students take the reins. #sdedchat
Two new apps I want to learn well over the summer to use during next school year are Adobe Spark and Book Creator. Just signed up for 3 webinars today! #sdedchat
