CatholicEdChat is a twitter chat. Topics focus on discussions around educational issues for Catholic Educators and topics beneficial to Catholic Schools. We look forward to continuing to connect Catholic Educators online to discuss education and teaching with faith in our schools. The chat takes place on Saturday mornings. Time 9am EST.
So bummed to miss #CatholicEdChat AGAIN! Next week for sure. And prepare to have your mentions destroyed later when I go through the archives to steal your #CSW18 ideas!
A1 #CatholicEdChat - Looking forward to the exciting events at all 24 schools in @CWCatholicSchls region. Mass, Religion Bee, student vs faculty BB games, open house events, etc.
A1: I’m most looking forward to the variety of dress down celebrations we’ve planned for our students and the school wide activity we’ve tried to incorporate each day. #CatholicEdChat
A1: I love the excitement! The way the school is active each day with fun and eagerness to be there! Students are leading and sharing their faith! #catholicedchat
Good morning! Mary Beth in NorCal. High School Math. I'll probably just be listening today - not too involved in CSW - but always open to ideas! #CatholicEdChat
A1: CSW always a good point in the year to pause to refocus on mission, celebrating our strengths and people, and sharing same with kmunity. #CatholicEdChat
A2: yes! We moved the themes around to cater our school schedule and what was already in place; I love being creative with my CSW team in planning events! #CatholicEdChat
#CatholicEdChat Make sure tag @NCEATALK in all of your social media during #CSW18 We are always excited to tweet and share your great stories and all of the awesome things you do in your schools!
A2: We have. At our last staff meeting we started planning to align our dress-up days and activities w the themes. We might shuffle some of the days to fit some activies. Ex. statewide KS day is on the 1st day of CSW, so we'll celebrate community that day #CatholicEdChat
A3: we invite all our students to attend mass that weekend in uniform to show their pride for the parish school and then attend our open house Sunday morning. 1 8th gr student reads at each mass about “what Catholic education means to me” #CatholicEdChat
A3 This year we are providing a “birthday in a box” to needy families in our community if they can’t afford a bday party for their children ❤️ this idea! #CatholicEdChat
A4: one class will make cookies for the local fire department and deliver them to the station...we send cards to those in the community that support our school! #CatholicEdChat
A4: our dress down theme is mix-and-match to showcase our variety of students and cultures in our school and surrounding community; students can pay $1 to wear patterned sweats or pajama bottoms and all money will be donated to our local Catholic charities #CatholicEdChat
A4 To celebrate community & KS Day we have an author coming in to talk about her book on #AmeliaEarhart (we're home to her birthplace). We also have a local filmmaker showing his movie of Atchison. To top it off, our dress-up day is KS sports teams! #CatholicEdChat
A3 #CatholicEdChat - Our schools invite community members to our events. We celebrate our Fire Fighters & Police Officer alumni, honor community leaders who are alumni and extend invitations to our open house events. #CSW18
Sometimes we can’t fit it all in CSW later in May our faculty will make gift baskets for the ladies at county Child Protective Services who investigate child abuse #CatholicEdChat
A1 We have CSW In Mach. Schools are still on holidays for the summer. Staff go back around 29 January.
A2 I like the site and how it calls those involved to celebrate. #catholicedchat
Hi friends! I over slept (aka slept deeply) so lurking the feed this morning. Wonderful ideas for CSW. It’s our Blues Week - celebrate & beat the winter “blues”. Fun dress-up days, service & community spirit activities abound. #CatholicEdChat
A3 & A4 We should celebrate being a faith community as a school daily!By recognising success, encouraging prayer life, etc. We should remember that a Catholic School is part of the Catholic Church, incl. Parish. We are always ‘In-Communio’ & should celebrate that #catholicedchat
A5: to celebrate our students we will be doing an all-school swap. Each of our teachers plans an activity at heir grade level for whichever class they switch with (i.e. 2nd graders become 7th graders and vice versa). The little ones love to be the big kids! #CatholicEdChat
Thank you for reminding us, @edu_ivers! The faculty/staff/administration have the impetus to foster a school's Catholic identity. When they do so, students take their own faith more seriously. When they do not, students do not necessarily "know" what is lacking. #CatholicEdChat
We have a Spirit Bear (stuffed animal). Tweet out riddles as to location during homeroom. Riddles based on school history, faculty/staff personalities, Ignatian charism. #catholicedchat
A5 cont: we’ve also agreed to make it a no homework day for students as gift to them and all their hard work (studying for quizzes and tests aside) #CatholicEdChat
A teacher came into Library yesterday with a great scavenger hunt idea. Search for book titles that can describe you and your personality. #catholicedchat. Students claimed Divergent, The Giver, If I Stay. It was fun #catholicedchat
#CatholicEdChat we love to celebrate our awesome #Catholicschoolteachers! They get to wear their college sweatshirts and we have them share why they choose #CatholicEd for their vocations/careers.
Our website is: https://t.co/lQlAonLHG1 Just noticed we are advertising CSW on it for 4-10 March. For those that don’t know Sydney Catholic Schools is a system of 152 Diocesan Schools educating over 60,000 students. #CatholicEdChat
A6: this one I’m so excited for: we’re sending home a map of the US and we want to see how far our school (@SMIPSchool) reaches amongst family and friends and then each class will make a math project out of the results! It’s called “Where in the country is SMI?” #CatholicEdChat
We have a Spirit Bear (stuffed animal). Tweet out riddles as to location during homeroom. Riddles based on school history, faculty/staff personalities, Ignatian charism. #catholicedchat
Q5 #catholicedchat we play Quizzo on facts about @StHubertBambies and #Catholiced during lunches. We hold adoration run with the music that the kids pick and play before school. Fill breakfast bags to give to city schools for kids in need in a relay race #ReachtoServe
Yes! Each student across the school records how many family members live in each state and then we’ll have 1 grand total of how many people know about us and then a breakdown by state schoolwide. It’s our first year trying this! #CatholicEdChat
I love seeing Catholic education celebrated in different regions of the world, literally from one side of the globe to the other! The Church is so impressively far-reaching (i.e., universal) that we can celebrate during the winter and the summer simultaneously! 😉 #CatholicEdChat
#CatholicEdChat this isn’t a GIF, but we’re hoping to put together another fun dance mash-up for our students to celebrate the end of the week at our annual Talent Show!
A6: I think we're combining our Jump Rope for Hearts annual activity w celebration for nation. We'll wear red white and blue for dress-up day. We're also making heart valentines for residents of local hospice #CatholicEdChat

A8: themed dress day is to dress as your favorite book character to celebrate our teachers love of reading. Our H&S Assoc. sponsors an hour long lunch for teachers to relax and just be in community with each other while they watch all our classes #CatholicEdChat
A8 the parents give the prettiest invitations to a decorated and catered luncheon w a cocktail hour & dessert table & later everyone wins a nice prize during a raffle - it’s the bomb! #CatholicEdChat
That is wonderful to hear, @SMIPS_CampMin! It is remarkably inspirational to see our Catholic educational institutions honoring priests and religious. Even if students do not have these vocations, they still acquire due respect for their vital roles in the Church. #CatholicEdChat

We have a traveling prayer table that goes from class to class w pics of local people who are pursing vocations to the religious life (this year they are monk novitiates and an alum in seminary). And we pray for vocations at the end of every school mass. #CatholicEdChat
A7: Last year we also invited some of our founding sisters who opened the school 50+ years ago. They were so sweet and still teachers. Help the attention of each grade of classes and loved the kids. #CatholicEdChat#CSW18
A9 cont: all students throughout the week will write thank you cards and notes to their parents for sending them to a catholic school and bring them home on Friday. We receive a lot of responses from parents about how nice this is and the reflections students do! #CatholicEdChat
A8. We budget a meal at a local restaurant for all staff. But we moved it away from CSW 3 yrs ago. Now have that event either b4 Christmas or right after. #CatholicEdChat

God's glory can always be found in the agony of a rational beat-down and a linguistic thrashing....with love and compassions and stuff. #CatholicEdChat
Thank you, @BarbInNebraska - it is critical for use to promote the family in Catholic schools: to both support students' families and remind them of its central role as "the first and vital cell of society" (Saint John Paul II, "Familiaris Consortio, #42, 1981). #CatholicEdChat
Before departing, I encourage you to please promote [at least awareness of] the @March_for_Life, which takes place in DC next Friday, January 19. Have a great rest of your weekend, and may God bless you all at #CatholicEdChat! 🙂 Thank you, @ncara, for having led us this morning.
