A4 During shared reading students are invited to read the text with one voice. Which means they should all be able to see it. #1stchat
  • RCSLitCoach Nov 4 @ 8:40 PM EST
A4 according to TCRWP shared reading has a single text (1copy) where all children have their eyes on enlarged print. Ss read together as they are able, a few levels up from what they can do on their own. Its about MSV orchestration, comprehension, word study & fluency #1stchat
  • mrsraisner Nov 4 @ 8:40 PM EST
A4 - I tend to use Shared Reading more in my small reading groups, rather than whole-class. #1stchat
  • valruckes - Moderator Nov 4 @ 8:42 PM EST
A4 We use lots of poems and songs that we read together to warm up for our shared reading text. My first graders love, love, love to sing. They even sing our hallway song without my prompting. lol #1stchat
  • smalchow Nov 4 @ 8:42 PM EST
Shared Reading for me was a time that I used enlarged text to share reading & comprehension strategies as well as think alouds. Interactive read alouds was a time that we enjoyed literature, talked about, and I modeled think aloud strategies in a more fluid/natural way #1stchat

  • valruckes - Moderator Nov 4 @ 8:51 PM EST
A5 I love when they see a word in bold print and they remember to use a "strong voice". I sometimes have to remind them a strong voice does not mean we yell. #1stchat
  • mmhole17 Nov 4 @ 8:53 PM EST
I was just in a classroom where the teacher pointed out that the bold print looks a little bigger, so you read it like it's a big deal. I liked that connection. #1stchat
