The #INeLearn hashtag is used for both asynchronous sharing and synchronous conversations. Include #INeLearn in your tweets if you want to share resources or questions with Indiana educators and school leaders. Asynchronously, the #INeLearn hashtag provides educators across the state of Indiana a central space for sharing. On Thursday evenings beginning at 8 CST/9 EST when you use the #INeLearn hashtag, you are joining a live conversation--the #INeLearn Twitter Chat. For one hour, we interact in real time having a virtual discussion.
Hello, I am Michele Eaton. Welcome to what is already the most shocking season in all of #INeLearn Bachelor history.
Join me and @dianargill as we take you through what promises to be an engaging journey. #INeLearn
This season on the #INeLearn Bachelor, we are interested in finding strategies and tools we LOVE that engage students in online learning. Join us on our journey to fall in love with online learning. Who will get your final rose?

Q1: You’ve already been out in the sea of edTech tools enough to know your way around. Which tool do you hope to see arrive in a limo today so you can get to know it better? Let’s give them the first impression rose. #INeLearn

A1: @wakelet is my new fave! #wakeletwave I'm always losing stuff and wakelet helps me keep track of resources ideas and even let's me give students access to all the cool digital resources I find #INeLearn
R1: My first impression rose would go to @PearDeck. I see so many cool things happening with it and would like to find more time to check it out! #INeLearn
Q2: It’s time for the group date where you will spend a weekend in Bali. Group dates are stressful, but group projects shouldn’t be. What are your favorite online learning collaborative activities? #INeLearn
A1: my first rose goes to @explaineverything. I have been able to utilize it in so many ways and I know that future possibilities are out there. It’s my go to app! #INeLearn
A2: I adore collaborative Google Slides. I know they're scary but having a slide deck and having multiple students working on it at one time? #magic#inelearn

We would LOVE for you to showcase your favorite tools...we mean Bachelors...on our Grid for #INDLmonth! Your video doesn't have to be "fancy." Just share a tool and tell us why you love it! Link: https://t.co/CQdNNrM3Xh#INeLearn
R2: Pretty much everything in my classes are done with students working in collaborative groups. It's not about the specific tool in my class, it's the culture of my class. #INeLearn
It certainly does and your interest is no surprise! I'm excited to see how our coaches employ them, and moreso to see if the teachers find ways to use them as well. #INeLearn

A2: There are a lot of ways to collaborate with Google products. I am really partial to Jamboard right now. Using a Google Doc to have them collaboratively fill out a learning matrix. Also have them create an interactive Slide deck. #INeLearn
Q2: It’s time for the group date where you will spend a weekend in Bali. Group dates are stressful, but group projects shouldn’t be. What are your favorite online learning collaborative activities? #INeLearn
R2 Any REAL collaborative activity is a fav. Give me a meaningful learning experience that makes me rely on others and share my special talents. And of course, the tools are any and everything in Drive #inelearn
Check it out! It’s an app by Google that’s a little like Padlet but it syncs with your Google Drive. Great for in class working sessions https://t.co/5kak7NyWLR#INeLearn
A3: Digital worksheets or using a PDF editor to annotate on an article. If the tech complicates the learning experience - it's not the right fit for that lesson. #inelearn

Q4: Following a tense helicopter ride to the Grand Canyon, you are ready for the infamous two-on-one date. Padlet and Flipgrid are standing before you ready to be used in your digital lessons. Who do you leave crying alone while you fly off into the sunset? #INeLearn
R3 Just like the traditional learning-clear out the busy work and projects that are just recipes--if is not part of the learning process, let it go #inelearn

A4: Unless there's some twist in the rules that allows me to leave both behind. I've used Padlet before and it wasn't for me. Can I leave them both behind? #INeLearn
Q5: Early this season, you really found yourself starting to fall for one tool in particular, but you’ve started to have second thoughts. What is one tool or strategy that you used to love but find yourself shying away from now? #INeLearn
A4: Probably leave Padlet behind. Flipgrid’s interface is easy to use and not a lot of similar options out there, whereas Padlet can be easily replicated in other apps and now you have to pay for it (once you hit your limit). #INeLearn

A5: I used to love @edpuzzle so much! I still do love it's ability to ask formative questions for YouTube videos. However, since they started a freemium/premium package - I don't find it as teacher friendly. It's price tag is too high. Looking for other options :( #inelearn
A5: Whole class instruction. I enjoy talking about math and working through math problems. But it isn't a great way for students to learn. So now I try to do whole class instruction as little as possible. Seriously. #INeLearn
Yes! Do you make videos for your students who still prefer to learn by listening to their teacher? I've been doing this to help a substitute math teacher. I made the videos using @Screencastify and then post them in the Ss Google Classroom. #inelearn
R5: That's a great question. iMovie used to be my thing, but since we went 1:1 BYOD, device specific software just doesn't cut it. Enter @WeVideo. #INeLearn

A5: Acually, Q5, can I talk to you alone for a few minutes? [Tells Q5 sappy life story in hopes of getting a rose from Q5. Gets rose from Q5. Everyone else is upset.] #INeLearn
Some of the students I work with are enjoying it because they can pause the video, catch up, rewind, replay, etc. I know it's not for every kid but I love that they can hear the convo more than once. #inelearn

Good point. It’s very difficult to create an authentic, meaningful discussion environment but it always seems to be the default with how we create student engagement in online classes. Can’t live with them, can’t live without them. #INeLearn

I appsmash Google slides with @goformative . Same idea only it's not video. But with all the math notation, it's easier for the students to have the notation remain static for as long as they need it. #INeLearn

Q6: The season is coming to a close, and it’s time for hometowns and meeting the parents.
How do you engage parents in online learning (distance learners or even eLearning snow days)? #INeLearn
I had to go to @dianargill's stream to see it:

Yes videos can be very powerful and creates opportunity like this! We just have to be mindful about the purpose of and how to create the video. #INeLearn

A6: I use a google sheet and the autocrat add on to send personalized emails home to every student multiple time per year. The email contains some general info, some positives about the student, and some areas where they could improve. #INeLearn
A6: since I’m in higher ed I’m not involved with this aspect of it but as a parent, I’d say if you can have activities where parents can be involved or even have resources designed for parents (e.g. creating a video to show them what their Ss will do), that’s a win! #INeLearn

A6: i use remind and invite parents to join. I also encourage them to watch videos and look at resources i share in Google Classroom especially if they are concerned about struggles with their student. #INeLearn
We are a @ClassDojo school, school-wide. Kids pay to their digital portfolios and parents can like, and comment. I know I've talked about it before, but our parent involvement with it has been fantastic! #INeLearn
WU: Before we say goodnight, give a shout out to an #INeLearn educator that you think goes above and beyond for online and blended learners by asking them to accept your final rose.
A5: anything that I am in love with I am in LOVE with. I haven’t strayed away. I am open to new things and am working to make them more fluent in my classroom and for my students. #INeLearn
@dianargill, my favorite co-moderator and #INeLearn valentine, will you accept this rose? It’s been so cool watching you develop PD, elearning templates, and support for eLearning days for your district.
WU: Who am I kidding...it's not that hard...I choose all of the #INeLearn network. Especially those here on Valentine's Day. Sending love from OR where it's dinner time now.
WU: I'll shout out my colleagues @dianargill and @nadinegilkison who do so much for their Ts which translates to Ss. I hope their districts know how amazing it is to have them! #INeLearn
Before you go and while we’re in the Valentine’s spirit, send an ICE Gram to some teachers that you appreciate. Show your favorite educators some love at https://t.co/V7yVuvOjJI#INeLearn@iceindiana
WU: @mrsmuellerCHS gets my rose! She has been implementing station rotation and @CanvasLMS mastery paths, and she's piloting @MicrosoftEDU Class Notebook. I am so lucky to have her in my building! #INeLearn
