Q3: Joy Matters! Learning should be fun. How do you bring the culture of fun and joy into your school and classroom? Give examples. #tlap#LeadLAP@burgessdave#CultureMatters
A3 Choice Boards, I like to offer lots of choice for students responses. Students can choose the response type that compliments their learning styles #tlap
A3: get a little silly, turn learning experiences into games, use props and hooks! Just got back from Home Depot and can’t wait for my students to walk into the classroom tomorrow! The questions, curiosity and creativity will just ooze out of them! That is joy and fun!💥 #tlap
Q4: Relationships Matter! How do you ensure that you have built a trusting relationship with each student and/or staff member in your building? How do you know? #tlap#LeadLAP#CultureMatters@burgessdave

✨A3: 🤯⭐️FREESTYLE FRIDAY⭐️🤯
This student DOMINATED 2 Rubix Cubes in 1 min 20 seconds!
I ❤️ learning about my students’ hidden talents the last 5 min of class on Fridays! Most importantly, IT'S FUN and increases positive feelings about school!
#TLAP
A3. I teach theatre and I think it’s ALL fun...but every once in a while I have a S who isn’t sure about what I am so passion about- #studentvoice gives Ss options for activities & assignments helping bridge apprehension and add ownership & joy #tlap
A3: You need to celebrate success, let students follow their passions, laugh with the students, foster relationships and have days in school that build culture....like Field Day! #tlap
A3 Two Rules: 1 Make it about the kids 2. Make it fun. No one wants to spend time in a place they’e miserable (staff or students) People see your enthusiasm , students are drawn to the excitement ( you can’t fake it with the kids) Have a fun Friday , celebrate Stu’s and T’s #TLAP
Q3: Joy Matters! Learning should be fun. How do you bring the culture of fun and joy into your school and classroom? Give examples. #tlap#LeadLAP@burgessdave#CultureMatters

A3: Finding joy in each day is something I intend to improve on next year. It’s easy to get caught up in standards and testing and never see the joy and humor in the Ss and Ts around you! #tlap
Q4: Relationships Matter! How do you ensure that you have built a trusting relationship with each student and/or staff member in your building? How do you know? #tlap#LeadLAP#CultureMatters@burgessdave
A2 are you as enthusiastic to share what is going on within your school building as you are to show off what your own personal kids are accomplishing at home? If you are passionate, you cant hwll but to brag about your Ss and Ts because they are your family #tlap@JayBilly2
A3 - As a teacher I loved being random, changing things up by giving students new things to look forward to like reading challenges, math games, Thanksgiving feasts featuring manners, etc. As a supervisor I’m still learning to do this, mostly by channeling my elem self #tlap
A3: My students begin their day with a Morning Choice activity, not morning work! Because of this, they enter my classroom with a fun and positive attitude! Thanks to @adamdovico for this inspiration! #tlap
A4: (Joining the party late...hey everyone! Happy Memorial Day) It is this time of the year that the silliness is contagious. The relationships are formed when everyone genuinely lets their guard down and can enjoy each others company #tlap
Love this! Our last few days we did camping during reading time. We turned off all the lights and read via flashlight by the fire. One of my favorite memories with them this year. #tlap
A3 Always make time for FUN! Always.
Anytime we can add dancing, balloons and cool whip...there is sure to be Joy. ;)
#tlap Oh, and I almost didn't get up after the splits. Didn't practice that. Impromptu. Threw it in, last minute. I'm not in HS any longer. 😂🤣
A3: Rock and Roll Carpool! We blast music as students arrive by bus and car and have a mega dance party to celebrate a week of learning! #tlap#leadLAP#CultureMatters

A4: every relationship is different. Different pieces of me dominate in each relationship as needed based on the other person. My interactions with colleagues are not carbon copies but are based off needs and strengths. #tlap
A4: Listen. You'll know they trust you when they talk openly. And when they have a complaint they come to you instead of venting to someone else - or on Facebook. #tlap
A3 I once cried through an entire scene in a play. It was a happy & funny scene. An actor had extreme anxiety. We were working on breathing through panic attacks at school. He was smiling, happy, and singing. He was at peace. I was fortunate to be a witness to his pure joy. #tlap
A4: I think having authentic conversations is a great start. Having these chats with Ss and Ts show them that you are invested with them (doesn't even need to be academic related). I think you can tell they have been forged if they reciprocate when they see you. #tlap
A3. You model what it’s like to live with gratitude. If you have a grateful heart, you have a joyful life. Your grateful heart overflows into actions and words. You smile, laugh, love and serve others. #tlap
A3: Ss are smiling & they’re having fun while learning. When I tell them that our time is up & they groan & ask when they can come back or if we can do lunch bunch- that makes my heart happy. I start off my day greeting them all & sharing excitement for what lies ahead. #tlap
A3: Joy is contagious. Find a way to relate the lesson to your passion and interests as well as theirs and you will cultivate a classroom full of happy and engaged learners. #tlap
A3 Giving kids choice in how or what whenever I can creates joy in the learning. Adding themed playlists to work times, entering & exiting class, dressing up, hooks all create joy. #tlap
A3. You model what it’s like to live with gratitude. If you have a grateful heart, you have a joyful life. Your grateful heart overflows into actions and words. You smile, laugh, love and serve others. #tlap
A4: spent the last 14 years teaching at disciplinary campuses. I found that giving the Ss space to come to me made them more willing. Many were so untrusting that by letting them watch me interact with other students, they were able to come to me in their own time. #tlap
Q4: Relationships Matter! How do you ensure that you have built a trusting relationship with each student and/or staff member in your building? How do you know? #tlap#LeadLAP#CultureMatters@burgessdave
A4: Hard to know for sure, but staff willingness to approach you with concerns and praise I think speaks to relationships. I am anxious to receive our working condition survey data back to get a deeper picture. #TLAP
A4: If they need to tell me something, I listen and I do not betray their confidence. If I say that I am going to hold kids accountable for their treatment of each other in class, then I do it. They have to trust that I am sincere. #tlap
A2: Our DNA (dreams, needs, abilities) board, the messages posted around our room and the constant focus, discussion and lessons on #kindness#connection and #collaboration let you know what we are all about in our #Kindergarten classroom. #tlap
A3: I celebrate the accomplishments of students and staff every chance I get by highlighting them in the newsletter, speaking to them personally, and public shout-outs at staff meetings. #tlap
Q3: Joy Matters! Learning should be fun. How do you bring the culture of fun and joy into your school and classroom? Give examples. #tlap#LeadLAP@burgessdave#CultureMatters
A4: Always do what you say you are going to do. Apologize when you can’t. Ask others for feedback and follow up to show them you were listening. Always pause to listen before speaking. Never strut when things go your way. #TLAP
We are lucky to have 80 minute blocks so I can spend time with each of my students. Some days some kids need more time then others. If you know your kids you understand when they need it.
#tlap
Q4: Relationships Matter! How do you ensure that you have built a trusting relationship with each student and/or staff member in your building? How do you know? #tlap#LeadLAP#CultureMatters@burgessdave
A4: Open door policy, be on the move, join in. As an admin I work to get out of the office and join in classrooms as much as I can. I want my biggest problem being trying to schedule principal picnic lunches, Catch with Carlin, and extra recess time. #pbis#tlap
#TLAP A4: I try to spend a little bit of time connecting with each kid throughout the day as much as possible, even if it’s just a quick chat. But my kids would come sit by me when working & just chat as they worked. I loved that. I loved knowing what they LOVED and cared about.
A4: LISTEN! I try to take the time to get to know them. I listen to their life story and concerns. Then, I try to lead by example and show that it is okay to make mistakes. Showing we are human makes us relatable. #tlap
A4: Listen. Listen. Listen. They know I’m there and I’m in their corner. No matter what. They know I really LISTEN because they actually open up. #tlap
A4: Ss know it’s okay to try new things in my room, and Ts know I will handle any issues (and share successes!) that happen in my room. I know every single S name in the building and greet them all day in the halls & around town. #tlap
Q4: Relationships Matter! How do you ensure that you have built a trusting relationship with each student and/or staff member in your building? How do you know? #tlap#LeadLAP#CultureMatters@burgessdave
A4 Ss request to go to the bathroom, then come straight to the media center to tell me about something that is bothering them. Ts have planning and need to get out of their room for a min & find themselves in the media center with me. I love it! Encouragement and hugs! #tlap
A4: I try to be as positive as I can. We had a kindness challenge at our school, and my students and I placed positive sticky notes on lockers. I also had a colleague thank me for being positive, and she gave me a stuffed flower toy which meant a lot. #TLAP
A4: When a shy Ss finally opens up, when the "tough nut" isn't so "tough" anymore, when a S understands the power of yet and makes a mindset shift. This is how I know our relationships are strong. #tlap
A4: I always get to the know the WHOLE child. I listen to what they are saying through non-verbal and verbal cues. I go to their extracurricular activities; then bring back their interests into the classroom. W/ parents- constant communication... #tlap
A4 #tlap#culturematters I ensure that I have built a trusting relationship with each student and/or staff member in your building by being nice, trustworthy, & following through. I ask for feedback so I can grow, change & improve. I think it's important to show I am human!
Q4: Relationships Matter! How do you ensure that you have built a trusting relationship with each student and/or staff member in your building? How do you know? #tlap#LeadLAP#CultureMatters@burgessdave

A4 I spend time listening to my Ss & get involved in their lives. This allows them to open up & learn curriculums and life skills. I want to start a monthly get to know you activity for Ts at my school. #tlap
A4: one day at a time. Seeking to understand instead of being understood. Saying hello to everyone that you walk by. Asking questions and caring about the answer. It's a forever process but when we are no longer strangers...we are in a good place #TLAP
A4 Be honest. Be approachable. Make the effort to connect with everyone in the building. You’ll know it’s working by how people interact with you. #TLAP#tlap
Q4: Relationships Matter! How do you ensure that you have built a trusting relationship with each student and/or staff member in your building? How do you know? #tlap#LeadLAP#CultureMatters@burgessdave
A3: any time someone ask how I am doing I respond with “living the dream” and its really how I feel because we have the best students and staff. Where else could I dance and sing in the hallways and work with teachers who strive to be the wildcard for our kids. #tlap#LeadLAP
A4: As @top20training emphasizes, name matters. I use each year's yearbook to make flashcards of incoming students so I know all their names on the first day. #StudentsFirst#ItsNotAboutMe#tlap
A4: I start and end each day with a handshake, high five, or hug. I also just take the time to sit with my Ss and talk with them several times everyday. I smile and stay positive while in the hall. My Ss want to be there and trust me. They know I care and they say it. #tlap
A4: This has been my goal this year (esp after reading #culturize!) With 620 Ss I see once a week, I'm really trying to make connections through books, activities, etc. For Ts, I try to touch base often to see how I can help. When they seek ME out, I know it's working! #tlap
A4: I connect one-on-one w/ each S & ❤️ doing Friday Lunch Bunch w/ small groups! This allows them to lead the convo & us to strengthen relationships! I also make a point to attend extracurricular events as often as possible! #CultureMatters#tlap
A4: As a lead learner, sometimes kids just need us to listen, and not be ready to give them an answer, a consequence, etc. This breaks the mold of the sterotypical princial role, but wow is it powerful! #tlap
A4: when students and staff bring me their problems and concerns, I know that there is trust there. They trust me to not only help them solve their problem, but they trust me to care as well. #tlap
#tlap A4 Students trust and confide in you......and stop by to leave notes of affirmation that you're making a difference. They feel the love and so do you.
I love the authentic part. It’s so important to actually be present in the moment and hear what they’re saying. I loved when they lit up if I asked them something about an interest they had. They were happy I remembered enough to have a conversation. #tlap
A4: Take the time to listen and talk with each and every Ss daily. Be sure to share with students, trust them and show them they can trust you. Lunch bunch has helped Ss open up more this year. #tlap
A4 It is all about investing time. Relationships are number 1 and you need to take the time. I learn about their life, their passions. I celebrate what is important to them. I make sure they know they matter. Give 100%. Be there for them. Be kind. Always. #TLAP

#TLAP A4. I try to keep up with the things the kids are interested in and share who I am and what I like too. Relationships are a 2 way street. Sharing about me helps them feel comfortable to share about them.
A4: make the time to have meaningful conversations with students, to really get to them... and truly listen. I also love using unstructured time (like recess duty) to PLAY with my students! A quick game of soccer goes a long way! #tlap

A3: I create opportunities for Ss to teach & share their interests. Teacher for the Day is exciting & fun for many reasons, and I get to be a student! #tlap
Q3: Joy Matters! Learning should be fun. How do you bring the culture of fun and joy into your school and classroom? Give examples. #tlap#LeadLAP@burgessdave#CultureMatters
A3: Learning Ss interests and incorporating them into the day. Dancing along with our brain breaks. Incorporating movement and games into lessons. Creating opportunities for relationship building. Being able to laugh at myself when I make a mistake or bump into the table #tlap
A4: BE INVOLVED...BE SEEN...and BE INVESTED in them when they are little (Elementary age)...so when they walk BACK IN your building for senior stroll..they enjoy selfies with you as much as you do with them! #tlap#allgrownup
My Ts and staff know that I won't ask them to do anything I wouldn't do myself. I hope they feel my passion! Push up your sleeves and let them know you care. #tlap#LeadLAP

A4) I listen, follow through on promises, got to events in and outside of school, i expect more from them. I always want them to know that I believe in them & that if they work hard and try their best anything is possible. I know it works because my Ss come back! #TLAP

A3 by allowing students to see the real me and starting each day fresh. They see my passion by how much I show I care about them on a daily basis #tlap@JayBilly2

A4: Be present, be honest, be empathetic, be transparent. Be there in good times and times of support. Most of all...be a champion for every staff member and student in the building. It will be evident when everyone is working together toward a common goal....learning. #tlap

A5: What I do with my little people is that whenever there's a "No" answer, it is followed up by the why. Maybe it's "Can you wait until I'm done reading the story?" or "Yes! Right after recess." I always explain my answer! #tlap
