The #educoach hashtag is used by instructional coaches around the world. We chat each Wednesday at 8pm CST on Twitter and use the hashtag throughout the week to share resources, ask questions and collaborate with instructional coaches.
I'm Kathy, co-moderator for tonight's chat. My highlight was working with my coach. Yes, everyone deserves a coach and that includes a coach of coaches! So beneficial to talk through goals with someone and keep myself accountable! #educoach
Good evening! Julie Nelson, Student Learning Coach from Arlington Heights, IL. My #eduwin was being a guest blogger on @cueinc about connecting with teachers. #educoach
A1: Teachers that have a joy of learning are enthusiastic about the work they do. They speak highly of their students and their work. I think they also strive to be better. #educoach
A1: A sign that teachers have a joy of learning is when they put aside all their worries and join their kids in the learning process. You can see it and feel it. Their tone of voice & body language celebrate Student Learning. #educoach
A2 Some signs of losing the joy in learning may be doing the same things they've always done, blaming outside elements for student lack of progress. #educoach
A2: A sign that joy is fading could be when we are weighed down by tracking the data or managing many competing demands. All important but joyful learning is equally important. Getting chills when teaching/watching someone teach can’t be tracked. So powerful! #educoach

A3: Ss indicate joy for learning when they can’t stop thinking & doing. They are talking about math in the halls-Writing in a journal while walking-Shining because they final ‘got’ it! #educoach
A3 One sign I loved seeing in my students is they didn't want to stop learning - they didn't want to put a book down, they wanted to keep researching something on their own, they shared their learning with others, they were amazed at new learning - etc... #educoach
A5: It could be that there is need to improve the relationship between the T and Ss. Or it could be mandated curriculum that for some reason is not exciting for the T or the Ss. #educoach#iareads
So true. #1 Relationships Matter and #2 Mandates and compliance often take the joy out of things. Yet, we as leaders have to find way to provide the supports for mandates and help remove the fear or lack of skills. #educoach
A6 One of my go to documents is the Managing Complex Change chart. I wrote about it here. I just noticed a few images not showing up. Website updates are on my To Do list this break. https://t.co/9aYQblCGe5#educoach
A5: Ts and Ss lose joy when focused on what’s next-next year, the next skill etc. When we meet Ss where they are at, behaviorally & academically we can see/feel the joy every step of the way. #educoach#forwardprogress
A7: Classrooms that cultivate joy are full of student leaders. We are a Leader in Me School & students/teachers feeling empowered make our school a joyful, comfortable place to learn. #educoach
