Q1: Tiny moments can make someone’s day, week, month or year. Moments can also be what make a career. What is your #LoveTeaching moment: the time when you first fell in love with teaching or knew it was meant to be your profession? #MTedchat#LoveTeaching
A1) I fell in love with teaching b/c I helped my friend Connie grade her 6th grade science journals!! This was over 20 years ago! #mtedchat#LoveTeaching

A1: I was 21. Teaching 7th graders in the summer before my senior year of college and realized that I absolutely loved working with middle schoolers-- they're funny and curious and brilliant and honest. Haven't looked back! #LoveTeaching#MTedchat
A1: I had a student who was in the hospital my 1st week of teaching. When visiting her in the hospital, I brought her a Tigger doll. She lost her home in a tornado years later & called to tell me they found Tigger! That's when I realized I would #LoveTeaching! #MTedchat

A1: I can't think of a specific moment, but I know that I practiced teaching from a young age. I only veered from teaching as a career when I was a junior in HS. It's never been a question that I would teach #LoveTeaching#MTedchat
A1 I spent my summers during college working at a guest ranch. I loved the energy working with kids creating and acting things out and knew a lifetime of teaching was in my future. #MTedchat#LoveTeaching

A1: My #loveteaching moment was during my final practicum experience before student teaching. My cooperating teacher had me leading small group instruction and conferencing throughout the day, across the content areas. Learned the power of differentiation. #MTedchat

A1 I was in 1st grade when I decided I was going to be a teacher. I went home and told my parents I was going to teach 1st grade some day like Mrs. Gartzka. My very first job was teaching 1st, but now my passion is teaching 4th. #mtedchat
I too have always known I would be a T. I had to leave the profession for a bit because I couldn't find a job...then I got my current position. #mtedchat#LoveTeaching
This is awesome. Makes me think of a follow-up: what are the little things students have given you over the years that you still have? How do they connect to your #LoveTeaching story? For me, it's a ceramic tile, a misspelled note, & a clay thingamabob. #LoveTeaching#MTedchat
Q2: Six Word Stories are a great way to summarize ideas with students in the classroom. If you had to tell your current #LoveTeaching story in only six words, what would that be? #MTedchat
Sounds familiar...my 2nd grade teacher was the biggest spark for me. I now follow her retirement adventures on FB...so much fun! #MTedchat#LoveTeaching
Same. People always ask me why I don't do photography full time, and I just honestly can't imagine a world where I'm not a teacher. Teaching and doing photography part time gives me the best of both worlds. #mtedchat
I have a "why" folder full of notes, letters, and funny things students have shared with me throughout the year. When I'm having a bad day, I still pull it out even though I'm not in my classroom anymore --- I now add to it emails from teachers #MTedchat#LoveTeaching
Q2: Six Word Stories are a great way to summarize ideas with students in the classroom. If you had to tell your current #LoveTeaching story in only six words, what would that be? #MTedchat
Absolutely! Why leave something you're great at for something you're great at? Totally do both unless your passion lessens. I like to build a "zen" tree. Add lots of branches and start hacking them off when I am no longer passionate about something #MTedchat#LoveTeaching
A1) Back when I was teaching swim lessons - to engage kids and work with kids. Take them through something they didn't think they could do and then amazed they did it. That did it for me. #MTedchat#LoveTeaching

We have had indoor recess for two weeks. Also, by the end of February, I will have taught ten instructional days is all. The rest are snow days and midwinter break! LOL #mtedchat#LoveTeaching

Hello, my name is Gabriel from Troup TX, I am in my way to become a teacher, right now I am giving lessons as a Student-teacher at a High School. I am glad to be here. #MTedchat#Sp19edfb4338
A3: I tend to become visibly excited when in the midst of learning...When students are engaged in experiences, dialogue, inquiry...can't help but ask ?s to push further... Often with camera in hand. I'm proud of what we do. I want students to be proud too #mtedchat#loveteaching
A4: New-teacher mentoring program. Recently, the school paid for Indian food to feed all mentors and mentees at lunch. Sometimes we just need time to be together! #MTedchat#LoveTeaching
A4: I teach in a school that is 100% free lunch. Everyone who is there is there for the right reason-to do what's best for kids. They constantly overcome obstacles & always make the kids their #1 priority. How can you not #LoveTeaching in an environment like that? #MTedchat
A4) Students are provided leadership opportunities; Ts use inquiry to promote curiosity and creativity; we dance & bring life into the school. Ss are proud of their school. #MTedchat#LoveTeaching
A4: At @BetterLesson we foster #LoveTeaching through supportive engagement with teachers, coaches, and administrators --- we're sounding boards, questioners, supports, listeners, friends, a shoulder to cry on #mtedchat
A4: I think the biggest thing our staff does to foster a #loveteaching culture is to maintain a high level of collegial collaboration. As a very small rural school, we have so many opportunities for co-teaching, teaming, and multi-aging. LOVE that Ss benefit from that. #mtedchat
A1: I want to be a teacher because I want have an impact on students, just like my teachers have had on me. I had no academic goals in High School because I did not know English, now I am about to graduate thanks to my teachers. #MTedchat#Sp19edfb4338
A4 I have support from my admin to be innovative and creative in my classroom which has made me #loveteaching even more. My school also is very supportive of professional learning #mtedchat
Q5: Teaching is not always easy, and it’s sometimes overwhelming. Knowing there is frustration at times, how do you push through the difficult moments when they do happen? #MTedchat#LoveTeaching
A5: We've got to be honest with each other about this. Teaching is hard, and that's real. We have to be willing to talk to each other about it, ask for help, hold each other up. #LoveTeaching#MTedchat

A5) Look at those little ones in front of me. This really isn't about me, my colleagues, or my school. This is all about the eyes watching me and the faces in front of me every day. #mtedchat#LoveTeaching
A5 I try to document moments when I have that #loveteaching feeling or keep notes and little mementos from my students to look at when I'm having tough days. #mtedchat
Your little district sounds amazing. Had I taught in your district in MT, I would have had a much different, positive experience in a small district. #Mtedchat#LoveTeaching
A5: Those are the times when I try to be very intention in my lesson planning. I try to plan lessons that I know will be engaging for my kiddos but will make me excited to teach. This gets me out of my funk & helps me remember why I #LoveTeaching. #MTedchat

Q5: Teaching is not always easy, and it’s sometimes overwhelming. Knowing there is frustration at times, how do you push through the difficult moments when they do happen? #MTedchat#LoveTeaching
A5: I think I look forward to a fault. I tend to have a diff time staying in the moment… It's something I have to work on. I do think, that skill or tendancy helps me when working through those tough moments. I use them to develop systems of support. #mtedchat#loveteaching
Q5: Teaching is not always easy, and it’s sometimes overwhelming. Knowing there is frustration at times, how do you push through the difficult moments when they do happen? #MTedchat#LoveTeaching
Staying connected is so important. I tend to withdraw and want to shut my door and do it my way when times are tough. I've learned healthier mechanisms than this. #mtedchat#LoveTeaching
A5) There has to be people you can talk to and network with w/i your school. TIME is a huge factor but so important that we take it with those that fuel us. Find your Marigold: https://t.co/bO1rAmaVYa#mtedchat#LoveTeaching
Sometimes shutting your door is healthy though. I've been in situations where I would be more negative by hanging out in the teacher's lounge. Luckily that's not the case now, but separating yourself from the negativity is sometimes what we need to do. #LoveTeaching#MTedchat
A5: I think that it is really important to foster the relationships within the building, so that staff members have a way to communicate their frustrations to seek help and support. We want students to ask for help, we need staff to as well. #mtedchat#loveteaching

A5: I had a call today where I watched a coach in real-time (who I coach 1:1) coach a teacher. It was amazing to watch him implement the protocols we've worked on together and to be a fly on the wall watching the teacher positively engage. #MTedchat
A6) Just met with the great people at @KTVQ to plan a phase of our #AmazingShake2019 (starting March 20th). The excitement we SHARE in watching our students excel and feel empowered by working together is my fuel. #mtedchat#LoveTeaching#beartoothelem
WATCH: @Lin_Manuel breaks into tears after we surprised him with a heartfelt message from his 8th grade teacher.
"I wrote a musical instead of doing my homework... He said, 'You could be good at this... you should be doing this."
#HamiltonPR@HamiltonMusical
Yes, I agree. I've learned though therapy, negative social experiences, and time when it's time to shut the door and when it's time to talk with my mentor. #mtedchat#loveteaching
To me, this means to support students in their career, as well as in their daily life. I would like to help students to overcome their challenge by offering an unconditional support. #mtedchat#Sp19edfb4338
A5: Reach out to colleagues, celebrate small successes, send good news postcards to students. Acknowledge the challenges and support each other #LoveTeaching#MTedchat
A6 I was at a tech conference recently and came back to this note on my door that one of my students created during recess time and had everyone sign. Just a good reminder of what a good classroom community we have. My Ss are very thoughtful and caring #mtedchat#loveteaching
A6: Ohhh, our Sweetheart's Dinner Fundraiser... Dixon School tradition where the students turn the gym into a restaurant and serve members of the community 'customers'. Multi-generational opportunity for all to give a little back to one another. #LoveTeaching#mtedchat
I did an unplugged lesson whole group, then we had a K-2 & 3-5 room for exploring @codeorg w/ devices, a third room was Coding gadgets which included @WonderWorkshop ozobots, codable mice... #mtedchat#loveteaching

A7: My friend, and tonight's moderator @SydneyChaffee, has helped my knowledge of social justice grow by leaps and bounds. She has challenged my thinking and I feel called to action from the example she sets. She has started a fire in me! 🔥 #LoveTeaching#MTedchat
Q8 [Final Question]: Think of a teacher who had an impact on you as a student yourself, and describe what you noticed about him/her that let you know they #LoveTeaching. #MTedchat
A7: Keep asking questions and trying innovative ideas that impact learning and keeps teaching fun for you. Share what you do and develop a circle of support. #mtedchat#loveteaching
It's hard not to, but I certainly know I find more joy in reflecting on my growth. Heck, if you would have told me three years ago that I'd be in the middle of my dissertation I never would have believed you. But, I am sooo proud of what I've accomplished #MTedchat#LoveTeaching
A8) @ThinkGal was the first teacher I had that told me I was smart. She convinced me to do try all sorts of things as an educator and student. She was my adviser in my master's program. #mtedchat#loveteaching

A8: Carlena Leeper only loved one thing more than she loved teaching & that was her students. She had a knack for loving the unlovable & no matter what she always had a smile on her face. I think that positivity helped her see the best in everyone. #LoveTeaching#MTedchat

A8 I feel so lucky to have had so many great teachers. I think the ones that really stick out was because I knew they cared. They got to know you and you could tell they cared about you #loveteaching#mtedchat
