Welcome everyone - glad you all joined us - Remember to use A1, A2, when answers your questions tonight in the chat-don't be afraid to speak up- no wrong answers here! #wearewayne
A1. Being aware of the needs, skill sets and perspectives our Ss bring with them (and that these may evolve with time and exposure to new opportunities!) #wearewayne
A1: Disability Awareness means educating people regarding disabilities and giving people the knowledge in order to best understand people with disabilities. #wearewayne
Join the thousands of Hoosiers celebrating Disability Awareness Month throughout Indiana during the month of March. Together, we can make the dream of a fully inclusive community a reality. #wearewayne
A1 - It means we are aware of students in their all around well being. Their learning styles, their processing, their skills etc. We find ways to help them improve any lagging skill they might have #wearewayne
A1: It means celebrating the gifts of diversity. It’s looking at each individual and recognizing how everyone has an impact on this community, country, & world. #WeAreWayne
A1: To me, disability awareness is educating myself to be aware of all the different abilities in the classroom and throughout our learning community! #wearewayne
A1: Being aware! Aware of the needs of learners and the challenges that everyone faces. Finding ways to provide access to education no matter what #wearewayne

A1: spreading awareness & educating all about disABILITIES, as well as taking time to celebrate our differences and ways that make us unique and one! #wearewayne
#wearewayne A2: People with disabilities have jobs, attend school and enjoy being part of the community just like anyone else. So treat them like any other classmate, co-worker or neighbor because that’s who they are!
Q2: It means that we humanize the work we do and that people just want to be treated with kindness, dignity and respect. See people as people first! #greatvideo#wearewayne
By including our students into everyday learning & classrooms, we are able to bring awareness to differences & allow others to 'be cool' & be positive role models #wearewayne
A2: We just have to be ourselves. We are genuinely good people. We don’t have to fake it or try to put on a show. We became teachers to use our hearts in learning and growing. Everyone deserves the real you #wearewayne
A2. That video is perfect! People with disabilities deserve to be treated as individuals which means we are not ever in charge of their narrative. This is how we strive to operate in #wearewayne
A2 - What a great video! I think it just reiterates that we are all individuals with strengths and differences. We should just be ourselves and celebrate those differences. #wearewayne
A3...Cup of THRIVE at MCE.
Casey at SFE. Our worker at the Ed Center. Field trips with THRIVE and KEY Club kids. The smile and interaction we have with ALL kids.
#wearewayne
A3: A small group just finished reading El Deafo, a graphic novel about a girl's acceptance of her hearing loss. I asked my Ss if they thought if students in our own class have special needs. They just looked around at their classmates and said no- we are just us! #wearewayne
Seeing kids of all abilities develop friendships at WTP. By the end of the year, they are waiting for each other to get off the bus and walk in together. Makes my ❤️full! #wearewayne
A3: Our teachers in our horizons program (honors) and our thrive (lifeskills) had a collaborative group project. The students researched together and had to help create a presentation. It was amazing to see both groups working hard and collaborating together. #wearewayne
A3. We do not make students earn the right to take an AP or college credit course through a standardized test score. Our students are given the tools they need to find success from where they are. #wearewayne
A-4... Can't wait for the Dare to Dream Awards on Thursday. Every month is disability awareness month at our house and I am a better person for it! #wearewayne
A-4... Can't wait for the Dare to Dream Awards on Thursday. Every month is disability awareness month at our house and I am a better person for it! #wearewayne
A4: 1. By making students and staff more aware of what it means. 2. Celebrating achievements at Wayne’s Dare to Dream Ceremony (on Thursday) 3. Continuing to find more inclusive practices for all learners #wearewayne
A3 - all students can learn and so can adults. I learn so much from watching @chc_miss_paine and @jenhendy08 from a Math perspective while learning everything I can from Codie Taylor and @CHCJaguars(Jennifer Farrell). They are great role models for inclusion. #wearewayne
Dare to Dream Awards!! But, more importantly, constant conversations with our staff, students, parents. Staying in touch and communicating ideas, brainstorming - THIS is how we INCLUDE! #wearewayne
A4: We promote inclusion every day by creating a classroom culture of friendship and acceptance. No matter the difference- disability or not- everyone can be included and celebrated for who they are. #wearewayne
Make sure I keep advocating for 'my' kids everyday, not just during one month! What do I need to do to make sure they are successful EVERYDAY? #wearewayne
A5 Inclusion builds on the strengths of everyone and enriches and deepens learning for all. It is the ultimate collaboration and most effective universal design. #wearewayne
A5 - I lead by example and continue to push my students academically and socially to improve from where they started while being able to celebrate small and big victories along the way. #wearewayne
A4 Bringing my twice exceptional learner to Dare to Dream with me. This is another part of Wayne I love, the truly individualized programming my son has had. #wearewayne
I am going to highlight the amazing teachers that are our @WayneTwpSchools teachers are doing everyday and say "Thank You" for elevating our scholars #wearewayne
A4: Instilling a culture of love, acceptance and high expectations for all learners daily! Also, proud of all the Dare to Dream award recipients.. Can’t wait to see you shine! #wearewayne
A5: My classroom is just a small part of our world. Ss should learn academics, yes- but they also should learn how to live in an inclusive world, work in inclusive settings, and respect those who are different than they are. #wearewayne
Thank you for tweeting tonight in our chat! Don't forget to support our students, staff, and community members on March 8 @BenDavisHS for #Dare2Dream#wearewayne
