They can be time consuming and very distracting :D
Hi David, hope you bought me something nice :)
I fancy a doughnut if you can grab some!
A2: teachers need other teachers. Bc you need input, advice, help. All that can you get from your pln.
A2 people to share the ups&downs with. Seeing how things are done outside your own place of work.
in-order recursive meatware knowledge traversal
five for a euro here if you want to share them around?
A2) Through a one creates friendship, , with &
A2 There aren't many physics specialists around, I hope twitter will help me find more of us
A2 it's also like CPD on the go. Accessible answers anywhere!
in-order recursive meatware knowledge traversal A1
A2: easy accessibility to a vast network of colleagues providing specialist support, ideas, resources etc support
What type of doughnut are you?
A2 the benefits of a PLN are the opportunity to share ideas, and float ideas with teachers who may have experience in area.
The LN's are the connections and the people are the branches. There are many connections but there are far more branches
you do know this is becoming the highlight of my week?!
Shhh. may ask you to create a doughnut poll :D
A2. An effective gives you feedback on your practice, supports you in tough decisions, expands your knowledge & asks Qs!
A2: Having access to experts from around the globe 24/7

The LN's are the connections and the people are the branches. There are many connections but there are far more branches
I have to say I’m with you on this one Joe!
that has helped me out a few times.
People pay big money for that anywhere else! https://t.co/IPxs8kYdVZ
A2: Having access to experts from around the globe 24/7
and the connections all interlink with a lot of different branches.
A3) My provides me ALSO with where THEY have not yet the necessary & I provide about it to from
Hey Niomi, so glad you could join us!
shares his Tips & Tricks about :
Our brain works in the same way. We are born win many brain cells (connections) & the branches are the growth of the cells
A3 developing online network encourages me to do more CPD than that solely provided by more college - teachmeets etc
A3: to experiment with new resources/ideas.. interested in dev all things T&L. Currently gaining lots from IT specialists
I was sorry to miss last week but I only got home from day 1 of my course at 9.30!
I see my PLN being an active source of advice. Getting a range of answers/opinions that'll help a better understanding.
Always good to know an IT specialist :)
we can always catch you up if you miss it again 👍🏼
Anyone an expert in physics? https://t.co/9d2CbDoWoC
A2 There aren't many physics specialists around, I hope twitter will help me find more of us
Agree! Plus it's the only CPD you can do in your PJs with a glass of wine - or in the bath :D
You're on form tonight Rob :D
A3. A continuation of the PD that has happened to date! Probably quite a bit in the area of and … I love it, but only dabble!
in bed tonight! (Let's not talk about chat wear 😳)
A3 My PLN expose me to new ideas and educators with a different perspective.
A3: challenging my thoughts about education - I try and follow people whose thoughts are different to my own!
Q4: One aspect of growing your PLN is finding others to connect with. How do you “find” tweeps on Twitter? https://t.co/E4SSer4xys
Totally agree! Your PLN can challenge your thinking and open your mind to new ideas! https://t.co/qcmST9Gw3q
A3 My PLN expose me to new ideas and educators with a different perspective.
me too! IT is the main thing I need to grow in my teaching and learning
take care that the will NOT get hacked now ;)
and share their blogs and successes with you
Great advice Gail! Good to follow others who challenge your way of thinking! https://t.co/lYYMwyuBeC
A3: challenging my thoughts about education - I try and follow people whose thoughts are different to my own!
Greetings all. Jim here. Late but will catch up !
A4: I look at who the people I follow are following, also look out for twitter addresses at conferences etc...
Totally agree Jonathan! https://t.co/7PXDUmsZ9Q
I see my PLN being an active source of advice. Getting a range of answers/opinions that'll help a better understanding.
A4 through chats! I also see who pops up regularly in my feed that others follow and give them a whirl.
So glad you could join us Jonathan!
A4 you can search for a hashtag you are interested in I.e and have a read through the results
A4. First thing I did was imported my contacts from my email! From there I searched key words & watched RT & content. Then was chats
OMG!! 😱😱😱 that would be my worst day haha!
Life is all about balance!
Hi Jim, so glad you could join us!
Good idea! https://t.co/TvBpFMCkgq
A4 you can search for a hashtag you are interested in I.e and have a read through the results
Twitter is a giant library full of crazy twisty turns for me. I set time daily to go looking and say hi https://t.co/FBAo18FGDA
A4 through chats! I also see who pops up regularly in my feed that others follow and give them a whirl.
Top tip! https://t.co/l9TnNQ2j9R
A4: I look at who the people I follow are following, also look out for twitter addresses at conferences etc...
Thanks Joanna! Nice to get another side of Twitter, I’ll be honest it was never my strong point!
Looking out for or recommendation from people you follow is also a good start!
I agree with you Gail! Too much of a good thing can be bad!
A3: self-regulated learning (PLN's) can provide various numbers up to 70% of growth outside of the educational setting.
A4: and gotta accept not everyone you meet will be a buddy or to your taste. Know thine own needs & likes!
I think the phrase used for a who agrees with everything is an Echo Chamber!
A5 Just because you don't agree with someone doesn't mean you shouldn't follow them, as long as there is respect in interactions
Look at who others follow; listen to hashtag chats and see who seems interesting; don't be seduced by self promotion
A5. Find one person with good content, pick one person they follow, follow them, pick one person they follow… Treasure trail!
A5 use hashtags and the search to link with people relevant to your professional field (don't just follow celebrities ;-) )
A5: it's all about give and take! Keep it professional - engage with your PLN - don't just lurk forever!
Echo chambers definitely not useful but too much angst and idle gossip not what I want either.
thanks for the support Jo!
State you will spend time being their buddy and step them thru it. Just enough that they get it. https://t.co/N4f73fxYnx
A5 don't follow everyone - your PLN should be quality not quantity. Keep it tight so your confidence grows interacting
I join in with discussions and follow those people who can benefit my PLN journey. Check hashtags and follow Friday
A5 think about what else you could learn, e.g. following themes your students or their parents might be interested in, get insight
Yes, I think it’s good to do a & every week or so to keep connected with your !
Dont just ask questions. Share some ideas/comments/stuff. People will appreciate it & will share with you/answer your Qs
just looked this up! Thanks
Sometimes good to follow tweeps who challenge your views! Otherwise, as said, you end up in an echo chamber
Totally agree! https://t.co/hoc6kdHLL2

Agree, chats are great place to find people to follow.
Haha! Best way to respond to a statement or idea you disagree with on Twit is to ask a question!
beware of mood hoovers, you don't learn a lot from complaints, try to find positive /ideas-y /making plans-y type tweeters. A5
Great advice! Especially and recommendations! https://t.co/BH4GBiIaDU
I join in with discussions and follow those people who can benefit my PLN journey. Check hashtags and follow Friday
I think if it is clear you are willing to listen and learn no one should take offence
A6. They might actually enjoy CPD……
Agree ..esp the mood hoovers (grt name) BUT opposing views challenge our thinking ...too much 'like' and agreement 1/2
:) https://t.co/ye11qE9rhv
Dont just ask questions. Share some ideas/comments/stuff. People will appreciate it & will share with you/answer your Qs
A5 if you don't understand something ask. It took me a good 5 minutes to get from PLN to personal learning network tonight!
A6 FE is very big compared to school, Twitter can help build community and sharing of good practice
So glad you could join us Gaz :)
...can lead to rounds of praise without challenge and depth of discussion 2/2
I ❤️ CPD! People in my team think I'm nuts - I think they're lacking nuts!
A6: extraordinary CDP opps ..all wrapped up like a SIP gift
yes conversation is great, but lists of complaints not so handy - and all too easy to compile.
I’m in FE too! :D We have an awesome here in Ireland!
Great tip for new to Twitter from https://t.co/SysZ9Y9m7x
A5. Find one person with good content, pick one person they follow, follow them, pick one person they follow… Treasure trail!
I've enjoyed connecting with you! All good learning 👍🏼
Q6: you and others raise everyone's comfort levels & standards. Raise bar / set the new levels of quality https://t.co/ZnKGIcA0UQ
Hey Stephan. So glad you could join us!
Agree..haven't encountered this too often
woop woop for the FE crowd!
ducking out early, up early to set up in the morning. Night night all, good to stumble upon you tonight.
Thanks for joining us Joanna, and for that physics tip! :)
do SLT see Twitter as CPD or just messing about in the Internet?
Agree, don't be afraid to ask questions!
night and thanks for the follow 👍🏼
our SLT respects value of CPD provided by Twitter
So glad you could join us Carol :)
Do farriers see internal combustion engines as progress or just metalbashers mucking about? Etc etc...
