A1: Welcoming students to the class, using and maintaining HIGH structure. Continually going over expectations
#fusdTchat
CharmaineGeorge
Jun 15 @ 7:28 PM EDT
@Mike__Ogden
what do you do to let students know that class is a safe space?
#fusdTchat

Jun 15 @ 7:28 PM EDT
A1: Creating relationships with students immediately and figuring out their names AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
#fusdTchat
ProfD_Mac
Jun 15 @ 7:29 PM EDT
A1 I create convo games(circles, convo toss, etc) and i's a good way to remember names
#fusdTchat
CharmaineGeorge
Jun 15 @ 7:30 PM EDT
@sdmorias
I always remember faces but I have to work to learn names
#fusdTchat
ProfD_Mac
Jun 15 @ 7:31 PM EDT
#fusdTchat
A1 You have to slowly reveal your human side to the students to create the safe space. Worked well for me showing personality
CharmaineGeorge
Jun 15 @ 7:31 PM EDT
Q2 Do you create intentional diversity in your lessons to minimize disruptions?

A1: sorry, 2yo had speech meltdown. Combine high structure with fun activities, set boundaries
#fusdtchat
CharmaineGeorge
Jun 15 @ 7:34 PM EDT
Intentional diversity meaning you have known disrupters so you get ahead of game by creating activities so they can't get started

A2: I swear I have adult ADD so I tend to use multiple modalities within one lesson because I get bored

We would get along. EXACT same strategy I have. Ss will forget my chemistry, but they'll remember me

@ProfD_Mac
Agreed. They don't always remember what you taught them, but will always remember how you made them feel. So true!

A3 That's a hard one, you have to remember patience. Had a couple of Ss meltdowns. Every time I was reserved and patient.
#fusdTchat
CrazySciTeach
Jun 15 @ 7:41 PM EDT
A3: start w/ figuring out why they're disruptive: Can't do the assignment? Doesn't understand? Reading/language issue? Hormones?

I like the hormones. That is so true sometimes
#fusdTchat
Mike__Ogden

#fusdTchat
Mike__Ogden
Jun 15 @ 7:44 PM EDT

A3 I've seen some Ts have the student stand or sit outside the class, but I'm not sure about the isolation

Q8 When you use tech in your class do you see behavior issues decrease?
#fusdTchat
