A1: Defense can't be balanced. Give ths QB a lot of options! #txhsfbchat

A1: I like the personnel you can work in to this formation. You can have a TE or not, and create mismatches using speed or body size. It also opens up the box a little for the 2-back run game #TXHSFBCHAT
  • txhsfbchat - Moderator Oct 17 @ 9:20 PM EDT
Q2: What would you differently with this formation as compared to the first? #TXHSFBCHAT
  • MyGAOnline Oct 17 @ 9:21 PM EDT
A2. The F Back is more of a TE/H-back type of kid. Can still run down hill at people not so much of a threat side to side with two skill kids. #txhsfbchat

Yep...a very flexible position. If you have a strong blocking WR, he can still help set the edge for the toss sweep, or release for a mismatch against a LB #TXHSFBCHAT

Has to be a huge part of the offense! Like finding the perfect Joker in a 3-4 #txhsfbchat

A1: A1: The biggest concern for me defensively is just the stretch read scheme to the twins. Get a lead block by RB, Read PS DE and a wrapping guard for PS ILB and offense gets a hat for a hat. But we see it a lot and don’t have too much trouble with it #TXHSFBCHAT
  • Coach_DeMarco Oct 17 @ 9:28 PM EDT
If the f is a true wingback or slot receiver type player you can run inside counter off of this look or even tackle wrap but with an inside hand off to that wing. I would do this out of bunch formation with the inside receiver. Use Q outside zone to set it up. #TXHSFBCHAT

A2. Power Shovel Read, Wham, and boot action of Split-Zone #txhsfbchat

Q3: How do you personnel this package and what runs and passes do you like? #TXHSFBCHAT
  • ChrisBillings54 Oct 17 @ 9:30 PM EDT
Q2: can BOSS our LBs if we stay in 3 man front, most likely though will be in an under front to wing side. Can play cover 3 to Wing side and man to single #TXHSFBCHAT
  • txhsfbchat - Moderator Oct 17 @ 9:32 PM EDT
You could also bring the X over for an unbalanced set. Run the toss a few teams, before gashing them with the F-counter #TXHSFBCHAT

  • txhsfbchat - Moderator Oct 17 @ 9:36 PM EDT
A3: I would use 3 WR, and then two RBs. 3 WR should open up the box for power, lead, and IZ. Passes, I like Post-Dig concepts #TXHSFBCHAT
  • MyGAOnline Oct 17 @ 9:36 PM EDT
A3: It Depends. I love running a bunch of read stuff where the backs can go other ways and realsing the back whenever possible. #txhsfbchat

A3) As a DC Power QB Read to the Weak Side would give me trouble especially with a true dual threat QB. #TXHSFBCHAT

Q4: What do you run out of this formation? #TXHSFBCHAT
  • NickVagnoneFB Oct 17 @ 9:41 PM EDT
    Trap/Trap Option Rt #txhsfbchat

  • txhsfbchat - Moderator Oct 17 @ 9:44 PM EDT
Q4: In the pistol, I like stretch. Send F to the backside DE for a split zone look. Force the D to declare to the receivers or the backfield. I think they'll go WR, and have a nice weak side bubble to attack with the run. RPO the Y. #TXHSFBCHAT
  • MyGAOnline Oct 17 @ 9:49 PM EDT
A4: Watching the @astros getting distracted! Get downhill and the set the edge! #txhsfbchat

Q5: How does the sniffer back give you options in this package? #TXHSFBCHAT
  • CoachBenPalmer Oct 17 @ 9:51 PM EDT
    A4: power read option #TXHSFBCHAT

Power, Counter, Lead, Split Zone, Triple Option, Waggle, Load Option,Trap, Jail Screens, 41 Fox😳, Stick, move the F to make him #3 run the Sail, & more #TXHSFBCHAT
  • txhsfbchat - Moderator Oct 17 @ 9:54 PM EDT
Q5: The sniffer gives you angles to attack the box for different run plays. You can run power with him, or lead, or you can use him to KO the nose or DE on a Wham play #TXHSFBCHAT
  • rileyreeduf Oct 17 @ 9:56 PM EDT
A4: Love this into the boundary if teams set their front to the field. Should give us big bubble iso. Do they roll a safety down to the fullback and does that give us a chance to throw key screens away? #TXHSFBCHAT
    In reply to @txhsfbchat
  • CoachBenPalmer Oct 17 @ 9:56 PM EDT
A4: not the exact formation in my example here, but found this one first for the same idea. Block buck sweep to the right and flash fake to RB coming across QB then run speed option opposite #TXHSFBCHAT

A4: Also like true Zone triple out of this if they stay 2 high. Can RPO Gift with the BS WR. #TXHSFBCHAT
