My name is Lindsay Wey, Title 1 RT, @GardenCityElem ... @mrsclark41 and I will be your facilitators. Remember when responding to use A1, A2, etc. and always use #WeAreWayne in every Tweet!
A1: The National Education Associate shares “ongoing research shows that family engagement in schools improves student achievement, reduces absenteeism, and restores parents’ confidence in their children’s education.” #WeAreWaynehttps://t.co/D5qXdmgG7n
A student attends our schools 182 days and stays home 183 days. I think it is pretty obvious with those numbers why it's important that home and school are important to work together for the long term success of children #wearewayne
A1: We must create a team mindset where all perspectives as opinions are heard and considered when making educational decisions that impact our scholars. Parents/guardians offer great insight, plus — they are likely the scholar’s number one supporter! #WeAreWayne

A1: You get what you give. Give parents respect and a voice in goal-setting for their children and they're more likely to listen to your's as well. They're with their kids forever, we have them for a few months! #wearewayne
A1: We spend time with students 7 hours a day, 5 days a week, for one school year. Families have spent their whole lives together. There’s so much we can’t know/do without family support. #wearewayne
A1 #Wearewayne Connecting with families is important. Schools look very different than years ago. Schools represent community and family. We have to connect.
A2: I love when we invite our parents & families into our schools for family nights, one book one school, morning breakfasts, etc! Seeing them interact together is always rewarding! 💜 #WeAreWayne
I get to interact with parents in a variety of ways. Parent breakfasts, family nights, case conferences, and home visits are when I truly see the love of parents towards their children. #wearewayne
A2: Invites to awards days/parent-student events, daily messages and phone calls— bragging on the positive and working together toward student growth, and leaders who LOVE their jobs and celebrate their students/staff members #WeAreWayne@dmurff5@SandersSELF@McClelland_ES
A2: Special events, volunteers in classrooms, chaperones for field trips, meetings if difficulties come to light, phonecalls home. So important to keep parents involved. #WeAreWayne
A2: Parent involvement is a range. We have parents partners with us in daily classroom activities, support our learning experiences with supplies, take part in field trips, or larger school events.

A2: At GCE parents are involved with PTO, in classrooms, after school activities, Muffins for Moms, Guys Breakfast, field trips, fundraising, and HOSTS. #WeAreWayne
A2: The past couple years I've started having parents come in for 1 on 1 meetings to help set up their student's AAC. It's amazing the conversations that unfold when you're face to face that just don't happen over the phone, even if you call frequently. #wearewayne
A3: Remind messages are a great way to stay in touch with parents! I can share everything from 2 hour delays to event reminders to pictures of our learning. Twitter also shares our classroom story, as well. #wearewayne
A3: We have so many ways to use technology to support our partnership! Twitter is a great way to keep parents involved in our classroom and school community. We can highlight all the great things we do for our students! #wearewayne
A3: @RemindHQ has been extremely helpful - I love the quick contact we’re able to have with families through remind. Digital contact with families is makes communication convenient for both home and school. #WeAreWayne
A3: As a parent it's hard to miss what's going on in the school when you get notifications from Twitter and Remind on what events are coming up. #WeAreWayne

A3: Social media has been valuable this year not only to show parents what we are doing at school but also to show them what students go on to do after they leave Wayne. Parents may not know all the options that exist until we celebrate Ss taking unique opportunities. #wearewayne
A3: The district/school phone calls are also so helpful. The use of Skyward allows teachers and parents communicate and keep informed on progress. #wearewayne
A3: I use Class Dojo to communicate with parents on a weekly basis about Homeroom grades, academic concerns, and school or classroom happenings. Parents respond within the minutes many times. #WeAreWayne
It's amazing to see classroom pictures and samples of work published thru social media, otherwise much of what we do in a school day stays incognito. Keep showing our parents what you do. They love it #wearewayne

A4: A big difference is the ability to check educational progress online. My poor mom had to wait until midterms and report cards were sent out to make adjustments in study patterns or determine what I needed additional support with at home. #wearewayne
A4: the communication piece and social media in today’s world allow parents to have access to their child’s learning and support almost instantaneously! #WeAreWayne
