Hello everyone. Steph Dill, elementary SPED T in Colorado. Trying to get my computer booted up so I can multi tweet with #BookCampPD and #teachpos. My phone just isn't going to cut it.
Hey, #teachpos friends! I'm a literacy coach and international literacy consultant based in Tokyo. I'm happy to be here with all of you! I hope @teacherasleader, @TarniaCovooper, and @_on11 can join, too.
Hi all! Early bedtime for my munchkins! Putting off riding the stupid scooter around the grocery store for an hour or two. 😬 I teach 6th grade science with a side of shenanigans. #teachpos

A1: Short term student goal is to get Ss to look at the reading habits they have displayed so far this year and create their own SMART goals moving forward to help them understand themselves as readers. #teachpos
I like this idea! Do you have a list for them to choose from? My district has strict limitations so I know I couldn't just let them find something new on their own. #teachpos
A1 -
1. Adjust to a new semester with a new schedule.
2. Learn new, more effective learning strategies to (hopefully) improve their ability to assess and improve their learning.
3. Learn a bit about psychology's origins and perspectives.

#TeachPos - A1 - I had to take over a 7th grade math class after break because the long term sub wasn't working out. My goal is for these kids to not hate math. They have had a bad experience so far this year, and I don't want them to completely shut down.
A1: A short term goal for the students @TigerTownCHS would be to refocus and get back into the game! Graduation will be here before you know it!! #teachpos 😄 #BringYourBest
A1: I strive to cultivate a culture of ownership—a culture where Ss have choice and voice in what they are putting forethought towards, the intention they are setting, how they execute their intentions, and how they reflect upon their actions. #teachposhttps://t.co/pmUGEDW5dx
A1: I want to finish out my 6th grade executive functioning skills class with my students really using the routines we've created and learned, and to have a nice big cast and crew for the play, filled with veterans and newbies. (We take all comers) #teachpos

#teachpos
A2: I hope I inspired my students during the first half (and hopefully the second as well) by being a positive role model and ensuring they know I believe in them and that they all have the potential to do great things now and in the future. ♥️ #TeachPos
Hello #teachpos
A1: My immediate goal for my students is for Ss to create goals for themselves and self monitor with feedback & support from me to see how they progress.
A2: I have a very specific model that I use to get students engaged in a teacher-less whole class discussion. It take about 20-minutes of practice and then I step back and smile. #teachpos
A2: Give them the time to read and book choices! What they are reading has become part of the conversation when I see them, so I'm excited to watch them meet their goals! #teachpos
A2: Patience, lots of talking and reteaching of expectations, and new and more challenging projects and activities. It is time to step up their game. #teachpos
A1. Learning to count money and exchange for purchasing goods. Creating some new products out of just basic ingredients. Work with a tech tool in learning and explore or show evidence of learning. #teachpos
A2: I have incentives set aside for Ss that meet their goals. As well, I have incentives for my Ts that reach our team goals for testing. It’s all about celebrating and making it a big deal for everyone involved. #TeachPos
A2: Met with every student on Friday and they all left with their guiding questions. Sending out a Google Slides to help them with the first part of their project. #teachpos
A2: Model, model, model! I will also give guiding questions and topics to think about to help Ss choose a goal that is truly meaningful to them. #teachpos
Q2- 1.Prioritize 2. Plan 3. Practice. Choose something specific, make a plan to do it, try the plan out. So for routines, we identified what we need to work on, made a routine/checklist and are now practicing using the routine. Lots of cheerleading and trial and error! #teachpos
A2: I will help students reach the goals I’ve set by making them aware and a part of those goals and incorporating goals they’ve set for themselves in the process. #TeachPos
A2 - I will do what I always do (even though it often gets me behind)... leave no student behind. I always promise them “I will get you there”! #teachpos
A2: Carve out time in class for Ss to read and write, and talk about what they've read and written. It's simple, but it takes courage to shut up and shift the cognitive load onto the Ss. But that's the only way for it to happen. #teachpos
#TeachPos - A2 - For this class I am taking over, most of them have bad grades and are really worried about it. I need to change their mindset away from only doing math because of the grade. This includes doing fun projects that show them ways that math can be fun as well.
A2. I think with the centers, use more data to assess their needs and I want their voice and even their help when creating/revamping the spaces. #teachpos
A2: We can help students take ownership of their learning by giving them the breathing space to do so. Provide opportunities for them to create, choose, take charge of, and own their knowledge, learning, and skills. Think: You do, we do...then, if needed, I do. 🌟 #teachpos

A2: Before we left for break, we reached out to one of our classes and asked what we could do differently. They gave us incredibly thoughtful feedback. We need to put it into action now. #teachpos
A2 part 1: A good process is to determine your WHY first. I use the #designthinking process applying #empathy for you. Identify the characteristics you have and want to have. Then develop Qs to ask yourself about those qualities. Most of us don't know our why... #Teachpos
A2 relinquish the control and have students set short term goals or ideas they want to support. Even with K/1, they can do so much with support. #teachpos

A2: As an InstructionalCoach I help classroom teachers in ways that will hopefully impact students in a positive way. #teachpos Our goal is to have students reach theirs!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
This is what I face in my special ed math class...the feeling of failure so they simply do the work for a grade and don't make as many world-wide connections as I'd like for them to do! #teachpos
#teachpos - I did the same with the class that I took over. The first thing I did was give them a survey to give them a voice. It completely changed the tone immediately.

A2 part 2; I use #Ikigai to help find your WHY, your purpose: what you love, what you're good at, what the world needs, and what you can be paid for or value. When you discover Ikigai, your why, then you create goals. #Teachpos
A3: I want my students to say that they learned more this year than they every have, not only about academics, but about life and themselves. #teachpos
Yes! Then, we are never truly failing—we are learning. 💗 We must give students opportunities to take risks, get a little messy, and learn from it all. #teachpos
A1. In anything you do whether it be your effort in all things or how you treat people, “Be better today than you were yesterday and be better tomorrow than you were today”. #teachpos

A3: When the school year ends, I hope students will say they know I cared, they grew in their love for learning, reading, and writing, and—most importantly—they grew to become even better human beings. #teachpos
#teachpos - A3 - I hope they say that they learned a lot and that I was a good teacher. I never wanted to be the teacher that everyone liked, but I wanted to be the one that everyone respected.

A3: I've actually heard a student say this about her teacher "I never knew I could learn so much and still have fun. It was all because Mrs. ___ really cared about me and the other students." Wow! #Teachpos
I should ponder this question a little more... If I want my kids to say and feel certain things then I have to teach in a way that's going to elicit that reaction. #teachpos
A3. My hope at the end of the year is that they truly look forward to their return in the fall. May their memories fuel their desire to make the next year even better! If our kids don’t miss our school, we as a team are missing key ingredients. #teachpos
