A1: We’ve built a culture here of tough, physical football up front. We don’t have sayings or nicknames, but we put our stamp on being the best OL in the Southwestern League. Proof is in the pudding. These young guys buy in early and defend that title with pride #HogFBChat
a1 #hogfbchat A combo of a few things. The power of the unit, the type of intensity they're expected to play with, and the expectations I have for them in terms of constantly developing their craft (through #SKAQ, film, and so forth)
A1- Honestly, just trying to encourage them to hang together more often. Watch a movie or something as a unit. Sayings and/or nicknames will come with closeness- these kids are pretty creative #HogFBChat
We are the hogs. The hogs form a brotherhood that is bigger than everything but the team. Work together, love eachother, take pride in your work. Work hard, eat food, and have fun! #hogfbchat
@InsideTheHeadst A1 trenches! In between the O/D Line is no mans land. Someone has to move the stagnant battle because Wonder Woman isn’t going to save you in this move. #hogfbchat
A1: I let my unit come up with the name (T-shirt appropriate) during camp. As far as culture, we are the hardest working, smartest, and mostly technically sound unit on the field at all times. We won’t be outworked, out hustled, or out hit. #hogfbchat#FISTfootball#RocketUp
A1: this year’s focus will be playing “as 1”. Really want to build that identity of our oline, understanding that success as a unit is only what we do together “as 1” #hogfbchat
A1. ISUF, it starts up front. Every time we break out that's it. I have it tattooed on my arm in Japanese. They think that's cool. Tell them I'm sold out to it. #hogfbchat
A1. Right now my staff and I are establishing the culture of doing things right in all aspects of life including the 🏈 field. As far as linemen I want them to be the engine that drives us. A relentless bunch of dudes who love what they do. #HogFbChat
A1: we want to be known for our effort. We preach maximum effort on every rep. The OL breaks it down on “Family” or “Trenches” because several play both ways. We #WND which stands for “Waste No Days” we don’t want to leave the field without getting better #hogfbchat
1) Love this... building a new unit at a new school for me. Just read Above the Line and I’m preaching Nine Units Strong at the moment. Moving to E+R=O. I love TTC as well. #hogfbchat
A1: We called ourselves the hawgs and whoever graded out the best each week carried out a sledgehammer. The reason for the hammer was to illustrate hard-work. We constantly talked about five working as one. #hogfbchat
#hogfbchat A1: The identity or mantra I always push for is probably the same as the rest of you guys: Tough, reliable, and accountable! One of my line coaches used to tell us that our bodies are capable of more than we give credit for. Still sticks with me. @CoachTMorrell
A1: What I am trying to instill in my guys is to be TOUGH and Physical at the point of attack. We are a throwback kind of unit. Our slogan is #OrganizedCrime just like the 1920s mobsters who blended in with rest of society and defended there territory when needed to #HogFBChat
A1: We are using the #burntheboats slogan as a unit. Win or lose, we are leaving it all out there. Also have some players in the process of designing OL shirts. I also tape up the OL Creed in each of their lockers #hogfbchat
A1 cont) our OL motto was “Lock The Gate” we pulled from a High Freeze pregame speech he gave before they shocked the world and beat Bama “they’re great players, great staff etc etc let’s lock the gate and go looking for a fight and see what they got”(not exact) #HogFBChat
We develop a # every year. #DefeatExcuses. Also trying to instill attitude and toughness in the OL. I preach downhill defense and try to be excited enough for them to get excited about every rep we take. Compete every rep #hogfbchat
Jarrell Flores, Georgetown High School, Georgetown, TX and looking for some great men from the dark side to come join the #BlueCollar movement #hogfbchat
A1 cont) our team motto was “a new beginning” but I created the hashtag we use #ToughestOn208 which is a nod to the road our school and stadium is on #HogFbChat
A1.) Team- Own the Moment (Win the next 7 seconds. On the field, in the weight room, class room, on a Saturday night. Win the next 7 seconds.)
Line: WolfPack
LB’s: Rough Riders
DB’s: Ball Hawks #HogFBChat
A1. Can't say we have a motto or slogan or catch phrases, just be tough. We run the ball 90% of the time so we stress to the OL we are the heart and soul of the team and it's our job to win the battle of attrition every Friday #hogfbchat
A1) I always wanted to build an authentic family dynamic with each group I had. We ate together, they came to my house, each unit would have a nickname that we embraced (Landsharks, FlightSchool, A.F.R.O.S., etc.) #HogFBChat
Brotherhood above everything. You gotta be willing to go out there and put it all on the line for your family.. That involves the classroom, weight room.. All aspects of the game.
#hogfbchat
Ryan Higgins, Chisholm Trail HS, Fort Worth, Texas. Watching the North Korea summit and talking OLIine, just like I envisioned my mid-20s would be #HogFbChat
A1: We will also be opening Hickmans House of Pancakes. Because we want to put people on their backs and clear holes for the running back.complete with T-Shirt #HogFBChat
Specifically on D we use EAT, which is big all of a sudden. Effort, Accountability, Toughness. If you have those 3 facets on the field and in life your gonna be successful. DL have used “Go Getters, Hog Boys” leave that up to DL coach #HogFbChat
A1 cont: I wrote this up for my boys three seasons ago after a tough start to the season, so they understand what it takes to be an Offensive Lineman. It helped a ton at the time when guys were struggling to form their identity #HogFBChat
A1: cont: two main mantras. “One is One”. As in we cannot let one mistake happen over and over. One mistake is one mistake. Learn, make the adjustment so One mistake doesn’t turn into Two mistakes, into Three, etc #hogfbchat
A1: motto is ATR. Assignment, technique, and result. Do I know my assignment, how do I execute my assignment, and always think positive results #hogfbchat
Around the 30 second mark it starts. The kids loved the motto so much I think it will be around forever as our OL motto #HogFbChathttps://t.co/aj97BMtoxo
Line Coaches: I have a question you you all. Where will you take your OLine formgstting the most pancakes in a game now that IHOP went all crazy on us #hogfbchat
A2) Every time we had a film session in the summer 1 person was responsible for talking about one of our 3 coaching points from A1 and why it was important to them.
Allowed the players to open up more to their teammates and help build that bond #hogfbchat
A2: it’s something we’ve built over a few seasons. Older guys, college guys who came through this program, come back to assist both on and off the field. Having guys who bought in, have been through it, and been successful only reinforces what we do #HogFBChat
A1 contd) Also like using education as a tool. Study hall or tutor sessions because it helps put emphasis as being all in on and off the field. Or maybe a season book or thought ie One Word #HogFbChat
A2) everything is done together. OL is as thick of a brotherhood than you can find in a non armed forces atmosphere. They succeed and fail together as a unit! #hogfbchat
A1 cont cont: Second mantra is “Play the next Play” basically no matter what happened on the previous play, great or terrible. It’s over. Move to your next opportunity. #HogFbChat
a2 #hogfbchat Shirts for the OL with the motto on it. Consistent discussion of the expectations and when we are/are not meeting them. Some OL only wing nights coming up to help build the cohesion of the unit
A2: After games and practices we meet and talk about how it went. Talk about how we can use our values to assure the hogs are the hardest working unit on the field. You gotta let your guys live the culture and run with it. #hogfbchat
A2 hopefully in the expectations I have set for them and how we go about business on a daily basis it will instill the traits that I want my players to have #hogfbchat
A2.) Bal Hawks (DB’s) Go attack. Be ruthless. Be relentless. Bring me the ball. Want to play offense? Keep their offense off the field. Get the ball. Do whatever it takes. #HOGFBCHAT
A1: Previously I've used "Be the Predator." Comes from the 80s classic Predator, where (spoilers ahead in case you're lame and haven't seen Predator) the only way to survive the Predator was to hunt, instead of be hunted. Message is to hit them before they hit you #hogfbchat
A2) I only graduated 1 off my line so my guys have bought in. A ton of size and strength moving up from JV so the competition has really helped with continuing the toughness and accountability. They show up to everything and push the hell out of each other #HogFBChat
A2 we're really pushing the "finish" part of our core values during summer workouts. Finish the rep. Finish through the line. Finish the drill. We want to be able to finish this season the right way. #HogFbChat
A2: We will practice finishing blocks in practice and establish a physical nature that hopeful will Carry on to the field. Weight lifting will also be be very big for the off season. Getting our big stronger only helps establishing a physical atmosphere #HogFbChat
#hogfbchat A2: I want to figure out the real leaders. No lip service guys. I want "fox hole" guys. Then engage them and empower them to push the mantra we want four this team. Could be seniors, but underclassmen are just as valuable. Let them drive the culture!
A1: Servant leaders, I try to get my guys to really buy in to how selfless and hard working you have to be in order to play upfront. No selfish cats here #hogfbchat
A2: not just a summer or preseason thing. Year round, on and off the field. Motto translates to the classroom and that is the biggest thing, make the kids understand it’s bigger than just a game. #hogfbchat
Our HC @CoachVLunsford does a good job of putting old with new, as well as having the position groups run/workout together, even having them sit together in install/chalk talk meeting really incorporating ACCOUNTABILITY #HogFbChat
A2: talk it, show it, and live it. When things get hard, we have to be able to rely on each other. If one guys falls off a little, or has a bad play, it’s our job to pick him up. We have to be there for each other! #HogFBChat
A2: We have the mentality that NOONE will outwork us. If the "Skill" players run 5 gassers, we run 6. We will always be the hardest working unit on the field #hogfbchat
I constantly talk about our ALPHA and BETA acronym throughout the summer. The more we establish our identity the easier it is once we get to the season. #hogfbchat
Q2 We will get shirts, create a hashtag, and begin all line meetings with the tag or Moto we will give the unit a nickname and use it for motivation and expectations. We will lead from the front!! #hogfbchat
A2: I do DL now and we call ourselves the Nasty Bunch (stole it from USM). We constantly talk about playing fast and physical. Play hard not dirty!! #HogFBchat
Watched a video of a online speaker from afca convention two things stuck out to me 1. Teaching a hard shove at whistle 2. Have all line watching to yell finish at the whistle 3. Develop a cultyof competion #hogfbchat
A2- We break on FUBAR or our creed “LINE LINE DAMN LINE.” Took it from my high school o-line coach. I lift my guys together and we push to be the best. We burn out on our last set. Gotta finish every rep. #hogfbchat
A2) Nothing fancy. I have always just continually talked to them about being the Workhorses on the team, not the Showhorses. I like to keep them grouped in the weight room. The Showhorses don’t always work as hard. Steel sharpens steel. #HogFBChat
A2: #HogFbChat we do a good amount of bbqs with local Boys and Girls Club, help run our Chili booth at our Community Festival, things like that. The closer you become to the man next to you, the harder it is to let them down when things get tough.
A2. I think as far as attitude it is up to us as coaches to set the standard. Model the expectation and the kids will follow. Then coach the hell out of your systems so th kids can play confidently and ball out. #HogFBChat
A2: I set my expectations at camp today. It was my first day with the kids and I laid it out there. We will have constant reminder of the expectations. We will have fun. We will quote movies. And we will work our asses off. And we will have shirts. #hogfbchat#rocketup
A2: We are very fortunate to have an OG @tech_ninja77 and a young and up and coming strength beast @QuietSuccess573 heading our strength program. The work they have done is PHENOMINAL #HogFbChat
A2: A championship belt that is awarded to whom ever wins their reps consistently, Doesn’t BCD, and pushes through to the finish! Also acknowledgement in front of their peers, parents, and community on a daily basis! Showing them love! Celebrate their efforts! #HogFbChat
A2 - We will bring the OL to all 7 v 7 functions. Want them to remember that they are a part. Lots of team building amongst the OL all summer. Defensively, we will not change our identity for 7 on 7. 4-4 Cover 3. Talk, communicate, get better every rep. #hogfbchat
A1.) We want our players to be the protectors and gatekeepers of the field. Nobody goes anywhere without permission from the 5 up front. No exact names we use currently, but when I was in college we used to be the OLine Mafia. #HogFbChat
A2: Everything is performance based.. You score on defense or have a phenomenal game.. I'm taking you to dinner. Not only does that give me an opportunity to get to know my guys outside of ball but it also allows me to reward them for all the hard work they put in. #hogfbchat
A2) Delegate responsibilities amongst the unit. Expectations were set and each member of the unit is accountable to make sure that each expectation is met by the unit (Study hall, weightroom attendance, being on time to team activities, etc.) #HogFBChat
A2) to help build the camaraderie we went over and volunteered at the SPCA to clear their dog walking path in the woods. Everyone got poison oak but we had a blast #HogFBChat
A2) set the high expectation and always hold your guys accountable. Meetings, weights, conditioning, everything. Have the older guys lead others thru drills and workouts. Continually produce pride in the group and it’s identity #HogFBChat
A2: simple: the seniors evaluate after practice and workouts. They take ownership of the group and members of the group understand they can’t let down the rest of the group by taking a rep off and #Refuse2Lose#hogfbchat
A2: our strength coach does a great job with our team culture in the weight room. Coaches who are in there just try to push effort and success. On the field, anything we film your effort is under a microscope. We’ll start drills over if effort is not at level we like #hogfbchat
A2: Leading the seniors to lead the juniors, teaching the juniors how to lead the sophomores, encouraging the sophomores to befriend the freshmen and point out to the freshmen to learn from the upperclassmen. #HogFBChat
A3: Never stop improving. Understand that every rep can be tweaked, every single rep! Buy in to the culture we have built, hold your teammates accountable, and establish yourself as someone who deserves to be a starting Nighthawk O-Lineman. #HogFBChat
A2: It all starts at SAC camp. Coming into this position this summer has shown me that step one right now is getting my guys there. Building accountability within the unit and the program. Right now it’s teaching them how to be present, lead by being there and working! #hogfbchat
A3) I wanted them to be as prepared as possible for the season. They needed to know our everyday drills front and back so in practice 1 we were rolling through Indy and not teaching basics. #hogfbchat
Togetherness, accountability, a love for each other and the importance of doing things the right way and I don’t mean just football but LIFE #HogFbChat
A2) Intent. Can be built in the weight room and reinforced on the field. Treating every rep like it’s a game rep in both the weight room and on the field will create a mind and body synchronization that will lead to major results. #HogFbChat
A3: I want us to know the principles of @OLPerformance blocking techniques, we will have our identity set, we will know and execute the expectations during practice, and by the end of summer we will have the majority of our playbook in. #hogfbchat#RocketUp#FISTfootball
A3: Work... Bigger, faster, stronger. We can get the X's and O's part when we get a few weeks out. Right now, I need you treating your body right and growing.. #hogfbchat
A3) commitment...short summer in Va but there are just enough workouts and time to lose your gains if you don’t show up. Commitment to keep building off what we accomplished last year #HogFBChat
A3- prepared to play fast and physical. We just got back from camp and we got a lot better than when we showed up. Still have a ways to go. I want conditioned warriors. We play small school ball in Missouri, 4 out of 5 of my guys play defense as well. #hogfbchat
A3: focus on little details and working on our craft and trying to perfect it. Going over different fronts and being able to identify it so when fall comes around we have been exposed to it #HOGFBCHAT
A3: continuity and accountability. Be present and be engaged. We only have two hours together so give it your all mentally and physically. Lastly, grow together as a unit/family. learn to count on each other. #hogfbchat
A3: as close to 100% attendance as possible, consistently throughout the summer
If we never see them, we can’t get better mentally and physically and put in the time that is required to build the bond of the group #hogfbchat
A3: We want to get our guys to bond closer together and get stronger. The weight room is important but those days at the lake and bonfires are what create the bond and trust. #HogFbChat
A3- Develop a downhill toughness mentality, both OL and defensively. Want the OL to understand that technical doesn't mean much without toughness. Def, communication and ballhawk. They can't score if we take the ball away. Learn to trust eachother and the d. #hogfbchat
A3: of course everyone is trying to develop physically, but I am really trying to put an emphasis on leadership with our senior OL. You don’t have to be a senior to be a leader, but it helps when your seniors take charge. #hogfbchat
A3: Biggest I’m looking for is who can I rely on. Who is going to show up, who is going to get teammates to show up. I need to find the guys I can count. Show me who’s ready to work, for the guys around them, the program. #hogfbchat
#hogfbchat A3.1: I want our guys to discover the next gear they all have but dont realize it yet. A3.2: I want our guys to help their teammates find that gear. Once this happens..
A3: That we will only go as far as they take us. We must understand as a unit that there are ALWAYS thing to improve on and that it's my job to point those things out. Its never personal. I love each and every one of them #hogfbchat
Confidence in their abilities. Show me a confident player & I’ll show you a tough one. I want my guys to be anxious to get into pads because they can now put the new skills they have acquired to real use, in turn building greater confidence in themselves & each other. #HogFbChat
A3. Since this is our first summer together just looking to establish a culture of relentless competition and laser like focus. Then teaching the kids the systems so they can go dominate on Friday nights and have fun while doing it. #HogFbChat
A3: get stronger and faster, understand what it takes to be successful, and get acclimated to our process - from doubles through playoffs - how we practice day in and day out. #HogFbChat
A3: to continue to grow our culture. Be examples for the young guys, and contribute to this program turnaround. We also want to perfect our craft everyday. We focus on the little things because they matter! #hogfbchat
A3) Self Accountability. Being able to do the right thing when no one is watching. I think building healthy relationships with players is a major part of that. Building a “buy in” just means building trust. When a player trusts you, they will give you their all. #HogFbChat
A3: Summer is the best time to analyze your spring work. Attack your deficiencies from the ground up. Start elementary & correct you technical issues from the most basic fundamentals. When fall camp hits, techniques need to be reactionary habits!!
#hogfbchat@RUCarnageCrew
A3: To grow tighter as a #family. To believe in and appreciate each and every teammate. To compete against each other daily, and know they are making each other better because they care about each other. #HogFbChat
A1: With WRs, trying to instill an OL attitude. WE came up with the W.A.R. Board to track plays that exhibit the mentality WE are striving for: WIN, AGGRESSION, RELENTLESS #HogFbChat
DING DING DING! You can’t TEACH toughness. But you can TEACH them to know their technique and assignments. This will give confidence, confidence breeds an attitude of domination and trust in their abilities. Blazer wins the gif of the night and answer of the night. #hogfbchat
Confidence in their abilities. Show me a confident player & I’ll show you a tough one. I want my guys to be anxious to get into pads because they can now put the new skills they have acquired to real use, in turn building greater confidence in themselves & each other. #HogFbChat
A3) Commitment, buy in, team/culture building, especially being a new coach I want the young men to know O care and learn how I can motivate them to bring more of themselves to their effort on the field. #hogfbchat
A1). We are the Huskies but have identified with being the Dawg Pack. “We Us Ours” is the language we use: T shirts, breakdowns, warm ups. To value unselfishness behavior like a real dog pack. Team before me. Simple and effective, can tie this into everything we do #hogfbchat
A4) I’m shooting for @CoachHand at some point this summer.
Wanna talk OL play, but more importantly get his takes on Texas BBQ now that he’s at @TexasFootball#hogfbchat
A4: Alex Gibbs or Howard Mudd. Gibbs with NFL stories and the widezone, Mudd his experiences with the NFL and how the OL position has changed in his eyes over the years #hogfbchat
A4. Gus Malzahn or Joe Moorehead. Great offensive minds who I have always respected. Always try to learn as much if their stuff as possible. Also @Warhogs56 favorite Rich Rod. Lol! #HogFbChat
A4.) Dabo Swinney- Clemson- His mantra is amazing. How he presents himself and teaches young men how to be young men. How to mold then daily into being a better man than he is. As my dad tells me Daily “I want you to be a better man than me” #HogFBChat
So when you follow @CoachBlaz on Twitter you learn about all kinds of wonderful things including #hogfbchat.
It’s exactly what you think it is. #CarnageCrew
Two awesome small college guys would be awesome for some who may not have met them/or familiar with their school. Both are great guys to work for or work with. Terrific ideas up front and all areas of the game @yoder847 and @ApprenticeHFC#HogFbChat

A4: Honestly I would love to hear more of @danorlovsky7 talk coverages and route concepts, he does an excellent job simplifying them for guys like me. It’s a definite coaching weak point for myself. #hogfbchat#unpopularOLcoachingopinion
And that's all she wrote! Big thanks to the guys at @InsideTheHeadst for the awesome questions tonight! And bigger thanks to everybody who participated in the #hogfbchat#AllGasNoBrakes#GoGo
A4) Chip Kelly would be another. Fascinated by his application of science and research to the game.
Chris McKenney of Maine Maritime. Would love to hear him explain his philosophy ever since reading this: https://t.co/HVhw0FKDyK#HogFbChat

I've been your co-host Tony Shiffman and I am signing out! Looking forward to seeing everybody next Monday at 8pm CST for the latest installment of the #hogfbchat
A2). Our offense, full house power T, is the epitome of selflessness. You want the the rock, you better block. Running backs block and carry out fakes. No superstars, no feature back. Everyone works for the betterment of the team. #hogfbchat
We’d like to thank our official sponsor GameStrat! They provide teams with the most reliable and advanced sideline replay system. Check them out https://t.co/Ywj2bBIwhf@GameStrat_#Hogfbchat
If any of you guys wanna talk ball, shoot me a message on here, shoot me an email, or come up to Woodmont and we’ll get on the board if you’re close. Thanks for sharing! #hogfbchat
A3: After reaching the state final last year summer is focused on using every minute we have to make sure we are prepared to finish the job. Also doing my best to make sure the weight room translates to the field by making them understand the biomechanics of the game #HogFBChat
A1: Building that burn the boat mentality. Know that we have done everything we need to do to leave know doubt. Be so confident in what we do that if we handle our business we won’t need a ride home because we will conquer everything in front of us #HogFBChat
A2: Have incredible leadership from our players right now. It took a lot of work to get here but they are unique. I just try to lead by example, back them up, and offer advice at this point. Rubbing off on the young kids too. Couldn’t be prouder of this group #HogFBChat
Late to the party because of my son’s baseball game. They walked it off tho so it is all good Jon Horton Asst Head Coach Swan Valley Saginaw Michigan #HogFBChat
I’m a Gus Malzahn junkie, I came across his 2013 Install and saw three words on the bottom of every page. FAST! RELENTLESS! PHYSICAL!
I’m a high octane high intensity type guy and I loved the possibilities we could do with it so it became our mantra #FRP#hogfbchat
