A1) We currently are running PL sessions on mental health for students and self care for teachers. It is also a big part of our curriculum thanks to @HerveyPHE and @WIHICounselors#Globaledchat

A4) We are an IB school so we have all our students take part in CAS (Creativity Action Service) over their junior & senior year. It's a lot of work but often spurs students into opportunities that they would have never thought of otherwise #Globaledchat
I open my classroom doors 30 minutes before the start of the school day. We can greet each other and connect before getting down to work. #globaledchat
This is so awesome! I had not heard of that before... in our school system we have so many Ss w/severe allergies that I don't take my kids out to draw like I used to... #inspiring#globaledchat
EZ Texting is the most user friendly, with the least hiccups (providing your not sending to an area with service issues). It also offers some great base features and loads of offers for free credits that allow users to try the service for free. #GlobalEdChat

That’s beautiful! Any areas with the capacity to safely grow edible crops sustainably should go for it! Nothing tastes better, and it offers another learning opportunity. ❤️ #GlobalEdChat

Q5. What’s the role of global project-based learning and service learning for empowering children to play a role in community health? #globaledchat#YouthService#YouthVoice
If you asked my Ss where food comes from, they will tell you Giant or Hmart. We need to provide Ks opportunities to taste and care for food in gardens. #globaledchat

Q6. STEM Education is a powerful way to foster good health and global understanding while strengthening workforce development. What ideas do you have for encouraging students to find careers at the intersection of STEM and healthcare? #globaledchat#STEM#STEMwellness
A5: I think its so important to get our children involved in the community as much as we can! Set up programs for the children to be outside and involved. #globaledchat
A6: We also created career planning tools to help students explore the global nature of all careers, including STEM: https://t.co/y1SBQ06UyB#globaledchat
A6: (1/3) We know almost every healthcare career involves #STEM. If you are a student looking at healthcare as a possibility, check out The_Connectory for STEM learning opportunities in your area: https://t.co/6hypquGAaM#globaledchat#STEM#STEMwellness
a6) We host career days at our middle and high school. We also host enrichments in which teachers or outside members of the community can teach a passion / idea outside of the school day. We require students complete 4 by the time they graduate. #Globaledchat
Areas of learning that involve building empathy are crucial. Breaking down social barriers that can prevent enriching experiences requires face-to-face experiences, and in divisive times, connecting across differences is key in developing healthy communities. #GlobalEdChat
A6 We just finished our Pennies for Patients campaign Where students learned about Leukemia and Lymphoma learning the Science and also taking action by contributing to finding the cure #globaledchat

A6: We have a power building as my high school that takes kids to explore STEM careers, which I think is great for children to get hands on experience within those fields. #globaledchat
A6: I just think you need to include the arts in this from step 1 - I don’t see why we wouldn’t embrace the creativity inherent in the arts and marry it with STEM right out of the gate #Globaledchat#saystheformermathteacher
A6. Carreer days are hosted at our school. When we discuss various projects we are working on, we oftentimes relate them to occupations in STEM. Sometimes healthcare, etc. depending on project! #globaledchat
A6: At my high school and my college, we promote career days for students who may be unsure what their true passion is. It's a great way to help students find their calling. #globaledchat
Q7: What resources and tools have helped you champion health and wellness while supporting the social, emotional, and academic development of children? What more is needed? #GlobalEdChat#SEAD
True, we have all students do a mentorship for at least 24 hours over an extended period of time. I like the idea of doing a smaller session like that to see if they are interested #Globaledchat
A7: I feel we need to challenge the notion that it is an option or secondary curriculum. We need Ss to experience so much in our schools that are seen as soft skills. #changetheculture#changethefuture#globaledchat
Q7: What resources and tools have helped you champion health and wellness while supporting the social, emotional, and academic development of children? What more is needed? #GlobalEdChat#SEAD
We had to start small our first year by asking a few parents. We then had those that helped initially to help spread the word to others. It helps that we technically do 2 a year at our middle school first and then our high school. We always invite to both. #Globaledchat
It’s been really beautiful to see students advocate for themselves and our world. I only hope I can continue to help cultivate our future. #Globaledchat
a7) Student advocates are a HUGE help. Students speaking about issues at the school and the importance of mental health can speak volumes compared to what staff can do. #Globaledchat
I just did my global issues lesson w/5th gr & they blew me away w/their understanding of the world, they want to live in and are ready to take action. #what'syourcause? Create advocacy posters lesson #globaledchat
It’s been really beautiful to see students advocate for themselves and our world. I only hope I can continue to help cultivate our future. #Globaledchat
Sorry I missed #globaledchat tonight. Been working on Center for Geography Education in Oregon's annual conference that is taking place this weekend & #globaledchat's own @hsingmaster will be presenting at!!
A7P2) We also have an anonymous mental health reporting on our website and all of our staffs email signatures. Students can always report and an admin or counselor will follow up with any report. It's a lot of work but so worth it #Globaledchat
A7. Health and wellness, social and emotional well being, kindness and empathy, soft skills in numerous areas all need to be concentrated on! #globaledchat
"Literature and information that will empower my students." "Pencils, paper, technology, books, art supplies, counselors... Not Guns." Educators are resisting a call to arms by spelling out the things they actually need. #ArmMeWithhttps://t.co/Ku1OO0IEF9
A7: Accessible frameworks.Mentor examples.Kids are smart. Just like we would with a Reader's Workshop, offer wellness frameworks & mini-lessons & then facilitate. Empower the students to design-think their wellbeing. Don't we all attain wellness in different ways? #GlobalEdChat
In this age of "fake news" and viral conspiracy theories, help your students become good citizens of the web by developing digital and civic literacy skills with our framework. These lessons can supplement any curriculum, in any classroom! #DLDayhttps://t.co/s7JbXCRvSH
Thank you! There are too many adults limiting youth expression. The classroom needs to be a platform for empowerment as well as a center for enriching the mind. #GlobalEdChat
Today's young activists are doing what young people have always done: leading the way to change. See the parallels between today's events and the march for civil rights in 1963 that brought segregation to its knees. https://t.co/fpNNuG4wVz
The young people of Parkland "may very well accomplish what the grown-ups could not with the simplicity and visibility of their message to lawmakers: 'It is your job to protect us, and you are FAILING.'" https://t.co/15jzSEAQzz
