#FLedchat is a virtual meeting place using Twitter. Educators across the state of Florida come together on Wednesdays at 8pm EST to discuss the topics of the week.
A1. I think by conferencing with students and helping them not only see where they are but to help them set goals for those next steps we can communicate that we want them to continue to grow as learners. #fledchat
A1. We might want to assume that our students want to succeed in school, but we can't assume that they have the skills to do so. We have to teach them how to succeed. #fledchat
Very true. If students have become accustomed to not succeeding, then they may not have the ability to get themselves out of that negative spiral. #FLedChat
A1 Whether it’s administrations to teachers or teachers to students—we first must build relationships with others; people will work FOR someone because of a connection—you can set high expectations but without a connection it’s almost useless #RelationshipsMatter#FLedChat

A2: Respect is one person honoring that someone else's needs are important. I can respect someone without them respecting me in return. It's not pleasant, but it can be done.

I have had bosses that I didn't have any further relationship with. Work wasn't fun, but I still cashed that paycheck every week. I admit it's easier when I have a good connection with the boss, but it's not required for me to do my job. #FLedChat
A2. I think this definition opens the door to empathy. It’s important for our kids to have these conversations and to develop empathy and respect for others. #fledchat
A3: I can't answer this for admin. I'm getting a new set in the fall. However, so far they have supported my desire to provide the best I can for my students. #FLedChat
A3b: Since most of my classes will be project based, I think I'll add a challenge option for each project. Just a bit beyond what we've learned but not completely unreasonable. #FLedChat
A3. My admin started helping me meet my needs by treating me as a professional. No micromanaging! I think he will nudge me to do more with media. Less testing, more media! As for the kids, again helping them determine their next steps in their learning will be huge. #fledchat
A1 #FLedChat I really don’t like that account but I do think high expectations matter! But we need to express that outside of GPA and scores. Set high expectations for growth and learning and relationships!
A2: ‘Play’ is one of the best ways for Ss to meet their own needs without interfering with someone else! So much to be learned with and from Ss! #fledchat
A3: I think allowing teachers to take on leadership roles and have ownership in what is happening in the school. Same goes for students as well. #FLedChat
A4: Not being in an Apple district, I will not be able to use the Magic Move with my students. However, this can be replicated in any presentation software (just not as easily). #FLedChat
A3 #FLedChat my admin team is good at listening and empathizing. If I have a concern, I can ask and not feel like I’m being a nuisance. I wish we had the budget to push teachers to engage in their own PD (like paying for professional memberships or conferences)
A5: I have found that it is hard for Alexa/Siri to understand elementary students. Also, check with IT to make sure they can add your device to the network. #FLedChat
