Tim: in '74, my 1st yr as T some idiot vet T told me not to smile til Christmas break; worst advice EVER for 1st yr T
Hmmm... I don't have a . Looks like I need to get on that bandwagon!
A1: Simply put: life skills!
Soft Skills: "Skills that amplify the talent and dedication brought to an endeavor by the members of a potential team."

Carmen from McPherson, KS! 4th grade Teacher! My is ENGAGE

A1:collaboration and communication.
A1: I think they are the skills in which you deal with life , school, work!
Q1: soft skills help people relate to and work well with others
I believe the soft skills are those skills necessary for S to be successful in interacting with one another
Great way to look at that Mike! https://t.co/BudKCjvj5q
Soft Skills: "Skills that amplify the talent and dedication brought to an endeavor by the members of a potential team."
A1 Soft skills are the skills that help you get along with others and make friends
A1: "people and successful life skills"
A1 taught math for 40 yrs; not sure anyone I taught has used quad formula...but they hv used: persistence, self-disc, etc
A1: soft skills are the things not learned from a book. Sometimes called common sense
A1: Soft skills - the skills that get you through life.
A1: Skills for life; tools we all need!
This is so true! I love the way you phrase it!
A1-Soft skills are those that will make S successful when working together; empathy, collaboration, consideration
A1 Soft Skills= Life Skills
& those r the 2 skills that will get u hired in this tuf job market...not your grades or test scores
A1: Getting along. Empathy. Collaboration.
A1 T20 calls them: self-smarts...school smarts...people smarts
Well put! Tho I'm amazed at how some individuals interview, soft skills often needed there too. https://t.co/C9s50grbRt
A1: I like to think of it as...not the skills that get you the job, but they're the skills that help you keep the job!
when I googled 'soft skills' I saw a lot of info about emotional intelligence!
A1: Soft skills prepare Ss for more than just college...they are for real life!
A1: those capacities beyond content knowledge which allow Ss to be successful in the world beyond abcde bubbles
Late to the party! Susan, from Liberty, MO.
same here in MHK + The Bachelor!
Admins: can develop "hard skills" as a T ...not sure u can teach someone Empathy Compassion etc
A2-The ability to be patient, focused and persistent when working towards a goal - all of the qualities I want S to have
A2: Honesty, Communication, Confidence
Sorry I'm late.. Brandy Edu Trainer and Consultant one word, 2016 goal.
A2 Collaboration Curiosity & LifeLong Learning

A2: Patience, practice, persistence. Especially at the elementary level. it won't come over night.
A2: curiosity, communication, collaboration
A2: honest reflection, adaptability, always looking to improve
A1:Universal tools for success; skills
One needs empathy to solve problems..just one of the all-important interpersonal skills
I disagree, I think if you start in a district with your youngest students this can & should be taught. https://t.co/7uzZUvc0lH
Admins: can develop "hard skills" as a T ...not sure u can teach someone Empathy Compassion etc
We already started naming skills. What's your top 3? Mine: flexibility, eff.communication, mcgyver skills https://t.co/sdQ9W3o4GU
A2 practice, perseverance, and a positive attitude
A2: collaborate, teamwork, attitude
I love the idea of curiosity, we need to see more of this in education
A2: Determination, dependability, and intuition.
A2 The ability to persevere and collaborate on a project and not give up!
A2:, , & - I take risks, always practice compassion and want to learn and grow
A2: 3 Keys for Success: 1. Investment 2. Sacrifice 3. Perseverance -- put something in ... until it hurts ... and stick with it
A2: Trying hard, doing what is right, and being kind - I tell students this is how they are successful in my classroom
Yes! We learn/grow empathy by DOING, being around pple, involved in activities, working--not by sitting. https://t.co/RXRB82rqkC
One needs empathy to solve problems..just one of the all-important interpersonal skills
A2: empathy, communication, perseverance
Q2: hard work, persistence, kindness
A2: can I add narrowing to three is not easy lol
Failing forward is a key skill that all T and S must embody to truly grow together
Choosing 3 is so hard! I'll go with collaboration, empathy, and communication.
Boy do I agree! In today's world of a very self centered pop culture it's needed more than ever! https://t.co/6f5D85iDuI
One needs empathy to solve problems..just one of the all-important interpersonal skills
A2: I separate keys to success from soft skills: soft skills are habits or talents, but keys to success for me are actions.
These are important at the HS level, too! https://t.co/caDgJ9kVQe
A2: Patience, practice, persistence. Especially at the elementary level. it won't come over night.
There is no doubt that these skills can be taught. Just like academic skills.
I agree! With great modeling and practice.
Mindset can help move mountains, the power of positive thinking is so helpful in life https://t.co/ReTZp7vGxh
A2:, , & - I take risks, always practice compassion and want to learn and grow
A2: perseverance, curiosity, and ability to be wrong then learn from it.
Yes! Communication can cause so many probe if not done correctly and effectively!
I know! I could easily do a list of 20! https://t.co/tgcmreCzpr
Choosing 3 is so hard! I'll go with collaboration, empathy, and communication.
I'm glad you included failing forward! Sometimes the struggle is the best way to learn!
Absolutely! Schools need to help Ss look at their inner lives. No one ever taught me about my own Thinking! Why?
collaboration is very important! It is so hard to teach Ss that working w/ others is something every job requires
A3: No but I need to. I wish there was more time in a day.
A3. I try to integrate the soft skills in everything we do. I try to find moments it makes the most impact.
A3: Tbh, I think less about teaching soft skills & more about modeling s.s. So many teachable moments present themselves that way.
A3 No! It is a constant throughout the day! They come up a lot in class meetings!
AMEN! Doesn't mean it's easy, but is must be taught for KS students to be successful citizens in life. https://t.co/Vj6ITp7wTk
There is no doubt that these skills can be taught. Just like academic skills.
Hello ! We appreciate you being here with us tonight. https://t.co/jebiWH1eOE
There is no doubt that these skills can be taught. Just like academic skills.
A3 We hv worked w 100s of schools on this. Each one does it differently; some once a week, some in homeroom, etc
A3 We have a structured class mtg each week, but talk every day about what we can do to show monthly core value
Thanks! For some, failure is the only opportunity to learn. Why not model this behavior?
A3-No specific time but am working to try and build time into our schedule to allow for S to follow passions
A3: It's a goal. Flipping should open my room up to or which, if I do it right, should bring soft skills in naturally.
that's the ideal way to go, Carmen
A3 we have monthly school wide core values, all Ss are learning traits to be successful in school & community
A3:Skills are taught constantly, but a specific time to reflect is guaranteed to Ss.
A3: Every Friday is "1 min speeches" on the topic presented on Monday. 5 Ss each Friday share their curiosity and exploration
A3: Yes, my buildings teach social skills each week. I prefer to teach these skills in the moment too. Has more meaning/impact.
A3: Specific time each week, kinda. But soft skills should be included in every lesson - helps w/ big picture ideas in business
IMO Class meeting should be a must!! That's when I'm doing mine at hte moment! https://t.co/za8kK05g8j
A3 No! It is a constant throughout the day! They come up a lot in class meetings!
A3: No This should b an every day on going lesson that is intergraded in everything It doesn't have to b planed teachable moments
A3: embed in relevant learning experiences such as . part of learning ecosystem.
A3: I like to use morning meetings - but mostly I think it's important to model all the time!
A3: As a T, I use them everyday! Must have teamwork, comm, collaboration. I can go on and on!
A3: I try to incorporate them in everyday class. This way Ss are developing them constantly.
Soft skills best taught when work is authentic, collaborative and meaningful
It is imperative if we are going to meet the individualized needs of our S
A3: no specific time BUT I try incorporate failure into my class so we can talk why it happened and what we could change
a3 here's one answer to this Q: check us out at Top20
https://t.co/7ADqo9s1Co We have developed a soft skills curric
A3: Our reading program has collaboration and communication goals built in everyday. Try to carry it throughout day.
Modeling is helpful and a form of teaching. When you model the lesson also tends to just flow from us https://t.co/yEoNPhujC2
A3: Tbh, I think less about teaching soft skills & more about modeling s.s. So many teachable moments present themselves that way.
You bet! https://t.co/OpKecJxFgj
A3. I try to integrate the soft skills in everything we do. I try to find moments it makes the most impact.
Its amazing to see that educators in my state are all coming together for benefit. Thank you to all that you do!
Eric from Frontenac HS Technology and and my one word is "doing" Doing all I can in school, faith, and life
A3 some think these skills r just one more thing on plate...these skills ARE THE PLATE!
I'd think these skills should be integrated throughtout the day. Should be a part of everything we do.
A3: Yes! 100% of the time spent with my K-1 students! Always working on it! Always!
I agree. Life skill must be taught in authentic situation.
Boom!!! I believe class meetings are vital to build T & Ss relationship & teach these skills https://t.co/d44KZ2lbqg
A3 No! It is a constant throughout the day! They come up a lot in class meetings!
Jenny, good 4 u! Best way to learn. FAIL = First Attempt In Learning
Bonus question for my sake Do you find without a curriculum, those that need direct instruction in a skill don't get it?
Aww, that's one of my former students! https://t.co/0ICblLTJL0
Its amazing to see that educators in my state are all coming together for benefit. Thank you to all that you do!
A3: teach as essential part of learning experience. hold Ss accountable to practice soft skills in their everyday.
A3: Art, band, choir integrate soft skills everyday. So important to support these programs.
Here's the problem. Jane does it great in k-1... then we stop doing it w kids at some point... why????????
RtI should be given to the soft skills as well to ensure our S are ready for future success working together
Oh I love that visual! https://t.co/FDQ2GmqUVn
A3 some think these skills r just one more thing on plate...these skills ARE THE PLATE!
A3: I try to incorporate Ss into my reflections. They see me try to improve & get to use critical thinking skills & have a voice
A3: Bonus: Reflecting as I read -- looks like "curriculum" is needed because you must observe and evaluate to know what Ss need.
definitely conflict resolution
A3: At my level, I'm honest and frank with the Ss about how developing these skills will lead to greater success.
Are you talking teachers or students? https://t.co/JBB1ptsx9G
Bonus question for my sake Do you find without a curriculum, those that need direct instruction in a skill don't get it?
So do our career and tech Ed classes.
Amanda = right on! Have to devise a unified, systemized approach to get soft skills ball rolling
Well that's just plain awesome! https://t.co/PekvF5EeHJ
Aww, that's one of my former students! https://t.co/0ICblLTJL0
Its amazing to see that educators in my state are all coming together for benefit. Thank you to all that you do!
It's not because we get it mastered that's for sure. I agree it has to continue all the way through school!
Loved my Choir/Show Choir CHS in St Joe back in the mid 80's. Big part of my positive view of school https://t.co/IcbzhwZQhL
A3: Art, band, choir integrate soft skills everyday. So important to support these programs.
I do agree, but I also believe core classes can and do as well. https://t.co/de4d9dqoPo
A3: Art, band, choir integrate soft skills everyday. So important to support these programs.
Bonus Q: Fair to say it depends on the T's investment in S?
As a T, it's my job to identify that area for growth in a Ss soft skills and provide examples, modeling, convo, etc.
I do too, even to the kindergarten students, never to young or old to learn these skills by golly! https://t.co/Sxb2choMJp
A3: At my level, I'm honest and frank with the Ss about how developing these skills will lead to greater success.
Bonus : I think training Ts to understand Soft Skills eliminates need for "curriculum". Edus already teach this.
very true; some Ts into content; some Ts into Human Development...I know which T I'd want for my child
Heard the KSHSAA ads trumpeting skills learned in sports not taught in class? Aggra-moti-vated me and almost made me wreck my car
Great to see my friend and colleague on sharing her wisdom/awesomeness. :)
A4. Sometimes I feel I'm not giving Ss the proper tools to make the most of their soft skills.
A4: Learned from this chat: making them explicit without watering down their impact.
Q4: My kids have a hard time with self reflection so hard to see when they have skills they need to work on.
A4 Ss home life. When a parent or guardian dose not possess or see value in these skills it causes a hiccup, but can be overcome
Too strong a focus on these soft skills minimizes ACTUAL content knowledge. This is still req, there is a core needed here still
A4: I model/teach appropriate soft skills at school and Ss see the opposite at home/daycare/etc.
Time and perceived priorities.
A4 bad rap for soft skills, no respect from Ts who cry "more rigor" Q: what more rigorous than self-discipline?
yes! As a middle school guy, I wish we had more opportunities at the middle level. Our kids need the relevancy.
A4: and practicing for all learners is a unique challenge in teaching .
This is my DAILY FEAR!! HIT THE NAIL ON THE HEAD! https://t.co/scIBY73ciz
A4. Sometimes I feel I'm not giving Ss the proper tools to make the most of their soft skills.
A4: my HS don't like that it doesn't come with straightforward instructions with right and wrong answers
A4: hard for MS students to see the immediate relevance. They are so focused on right here right now.
A4: You're fighting years of outside social training w/some students. Students might feel like they're not being authentic.
A4: Want kids to know consciously how to be effective, but not to "force it." We don't want pleasers, we want teammates.
However, it must be said sports can & do also teach these skills but yes the classroom does too. https://t.co/1bfCK3efDU
Heard the KSHSAA ads trumpeting skills learned in sports not taught in class? Aggra-moti-vated me and almost made me wreck my car
A1: Soft Skills = employability skills! Work ethic, hard work, punctual, determination
A4: Home life b/c we can't control it. If they don't see kindness and empathy, it makes creating a frame of reference harder
A4:Diff Ss bring diff levels of understanding to your class. Utilizing those diff level is a challenge, but gives a HUGE reward
hmm, even as a T, I question that. Teamwork? Communication? Classroom too!
I see punishment with discipline showing it's ugly head for unmastered soft skills instead of just teaching the skill desired.
A4-I think time is the largest constraint, especially for those S that need intensive support and guidance
A4 It is the same as academics that Ss come from so many backgrounds! We have to personalize it for Ss. But that's what we do!
here's what I missed as a T: focused on content but never taught my kids HOW 2 listen, how 2 learn. Bad move by me
I just want to toss out how awesome it is to see my superintendent engaged in tonight's chat! 🙌
A4- I provide professional learning & Ts are asking for clear definitions of s.s. and ways to naturally integrate everyday
Yes! I can say it until I'm blue in the face but seeing him the opposite repeatedly elsewhere counteracts everything!
A4: Time and being consistent about teaching and focusing on the skills.
A3: this reminds me of "the company man" of the 1950s and scares me that it's a rebirth of the factory model of education
And does the punishment cause a change in the S and cause less of the behavior, I would think not
Take the time! Your classroom!
I can relate. Marching for the Kewpies was important to me and I was closer to last chair than first.
It is hard, but does get easier as they practice the skill of reflection.@ https://t.co/L3VkClrkLJ
Q4: My kids have a hard time with self reflection so hard to see when they have skills they need to work on.
You inspire me Miss Katie!!!!
I was mad because the claim is often correct, but motivated to work for it in my classes. Former coach myself :-)
A2: Determination, attitude, and willing to learn are my 3 reasons for success
A4: Consistency at home. But, involving family can help! Need buy in from all involved in Ss life!
This is why and are key! Home life and social training must be reframed https://t.co/dzAEsp5mmv
A4: You're fighting years of outside social training w/some students. Students might feel like they're not being authentic.
How is it 8:40 already! We are flying! Q5 "MY FAVORITE ONE OF THE NIGHT!" Any specific lessons/ideas? https://t.co/rBg6jhln1f
Sure still needed but you can be the brightest in the room & no soft skills & fail in life. https://t.co/OoayjLOK1f
Too strong a focus on these soft skills minimizes ACTUAL content knowledge. This is still req, there is a core needed here still
How can we have consistency at home if the home does not demonstrate the soft skills? We need to bring the home in
I think it only gives the teacher a sense of power! Sad but true!
Agreed. That's something else that needs to be taught. Many students don't know what that is.
too late for me but as admin I have opportunities to support T's efforts.
This could indeed happen, how do you see using your skills as an educator to stop it? https://t.co/5iQeEqOugf
I see punishment with discipline showing it's ugly head for unmastered soft skills instead of just teaching the skill desired.
So true. Have to get "buy in" from home.
A4 Past decade+ not valued--NCLB test data mania. Had to 'squeeze' in soft skills--as if they were 'superfluous'
By modeling, explicit instruction, and teaching our student to be self directed and self reflective.
A3: I teach soft skills in my student ran business We work hard to meet needs of the customers.
A5 we taught a 1-trimester elective course for 9th graders in StPaul HS. Changed the Ss' lives...and changed my life
A4: Not seeing the immediate relevance is okay. Natural exposure is key, they will all get it in their own time.
q5: Class meetings are great! Wish I had longer ones!
A5-We are planning to have class meetings across the building as well as time for SEL instruction once a week
A4: My class policy for FCS...many Ss don't see many healthy relations in life. We must show them. https://t.co/WYMkTPw255
A5 Many have said this tonight…MODEL MODEL MODEL but also, practice what soft skills do not look/sound like so students understand
A5: Setting kids up to work together, modeling, and providing challenging tasks. Working to open up time for using the flip.
Do you think that soft skills can be incorporated in your every day lesson...s driven think collaboration https://t.co/yOQlIR2XzL
A4: Time and being consistent about teaching and focusing on the skills.
A5: Modeling, modeling, modeling. Oh, and prompting and redirecting.
A5: class meetings, T and S modeling -- I need to do more.
I have found that the families that need the most support, need us in the home
thanks! What chat am I missing? We are on q5 at
A5: Ts are providing the lang. needed for s.s. like "I agree with ___ and I would add ...," or "I disagree with __ because ..."
A5: In , each team has weekly team cooperation goal. Before we read, we discuss what we can do to reach the goal.
I agree completely. I have seen this shift in 30+ yrs of teaching. https://t.co/VORmC5uDFk
A4 Past decade+ not valued--NCLB test data mania. Had to 'squeeze' in soft skills--as if they were 'superfluous'
Q5: Kindess coordinator is a new job title in my room. Having these kids look for kindness/empathy in their peers each day.
A5: opportunity for Ss to collaborate w/ each other and myself. That happens multiple time a week. Modeling the skills myself.
A5: Check out these learning principles in an amazing classroom tool for building soft skills: https://t.co/P5PSzNDopw
We all do. We can be positive examples. Our kids watch us all.
Totally stealing this job! https://t.co/AKGKG0XE8T
Q5: Kindess coordinator is a new job title in my room. Having these kids look for kindness/empathy in their peers each day.
A5: our school has discussed doing "families" - each T will have a group of Ss K-6 where we would discuss skills in weekly meeting
A5:Promotion of is about . I celebrate their use, confess my shortcoming to Ss, and often.
Q5: deadlines and ownership of each project! With ownership they want to do everything they can to make anyone happy.
A5: peer editing, peer tutoring, labs seem to provide the most space for soft skills from my observation.
A5: Cooperative learning and using tools like that allow for S voice/self-refl. are awesome for promoting s.s.
A5: 1 Ex: "quick chats" Ss come up w/strategy for activity, define words. Lots of communication!
A5: PBL and opportunities to work together throughout the day and a lot of teachable moments at recess.
I started using them this year and have found them to be profoundly impactful
Oh my I love this idea! I am going to add this one to my job list!
Doors song 🎹. Thanks, Carmen.
A5: I use to put Ss in situations where they need to collaborate, communicate, perservere... (Sorry I'm so late)
A5 We talk about others feelings, how our actions impact our self, class, school, & community We do lesson to impact & inspire 😉
A5:I train Ts how to recognize and ways to implement & .
Thanks for joining us! Agree PBL is awesome for working on these skills!
The culture a classroom meeting create is such a valuable lesson and soft skills ooze from them! https://t.co/lB0EywLYVj
A5: class meetings, T and S modeling -- I need to do more.
To all on Kids r lucky to have u in their lives. There r so many Ts who don't even see these skills as important
Yes, The kindness coordinators write it on a slip of paper, we staple it up, then we share during class meeting.
A5: "tell me something good" on a Monday! Open sharing to celebrate as a community.
Q5: collaborative projects, auththentic experiences, circles, being a learning and life coach
Thank goodness the "Force" has awakened the need for these skills in our youth! https://t.co/L2RZvktzg4
A4 Past decade+ not valued--NCLB test data mania. Had to 'squeeze' in soft skills--as if they were 'superfluous'
teachers ROCK for sure! https://t.co/LiJECydgiB
To all on Kids r lucky to have u in their lives. There r so many Ts who don't even see these skills as important
Collab. not only brings out soft skills but it's like playground learning trial & error with ah ha moments https://t.co/NPaLGJXUVJ
A5: opportunity for Ss to collaborate w/ each other and myself. That happens multiple time a week. Modeling the skills myself.
Glad you're here, Justin!! https://t.co/9Zr6vNErm2
A5: I use to put Ss in situations where they need to collaborate, communicate, perservere... (Sorry I'm so late)
I want to do a one day T training in Kansas somewhere, share what Top20 has to offer on these skills.Just need a site
Yes...The "Force" has (re)awakened the need for the soft skills. LOVE THIS!
So true! Educators forget we are rockstar to Ss & have a similar community status. A powerful tool in this https://t.co/srQrnjNjHs
We all do. We can be positive examples. Our kids watch us all.
Follow us. Call me tomorrow 651 983 2698. Let's make something great for kids
Thank you. Thanks for all that YOU do for kids. https://t.co/RhdhoGwZeO
Thanks for the lesson on how to do this! Thankful to have you in our building!
However we decided to measure the soft skills, it needs to be done locally, under teacher control and not at the state level!
A6: I measure them with one on one evaluations. The Ss grades themselves then I go over it with them. One category is honesty
A6: I'd love to see an extracurricular transcript - clubs, sports, community service, etc.
A6 tough Q. Very difficult to quantify things like patience, persistence, grit, etc lack of measurement = obstacle
A6: Identify soft skills effects in work beyond the sum of inputs -- praise/celebrate sincerely -- plz don't devalue with a grade.
A6-Depending upon the level of support, more formal assessments, otherwise from watching S work together and grow
A6: I am so stinking excited about this Q! I'm not sure I have a great answer but I love the thought of exploring ideas!!!
Q6 when Ss are proactive and respectful in their discussion working on a project!
A6 I don't see formal measurement I see visual & auditory changes actions when u see & hear ur words repeated & action take place
Just a student perspective; At West every student this year received laptops, now there is less student-to-teacher communication.
A6 I measure it when I interact with kids outside of school i.e.: or are they using the skills we work on?
A6: I can't imagine doing much measuring in my classroom. Our building measures the number of write ups each year.
I'm a total geek couldn't help myself https://t.co/BA8sekOhcU
Yes...The "Force" has (re)awakened the need for the soft skills. LOVE THIS!
A6: Why do they have to be measured? Won't we see change in society as a whole? We are the makers of generations.
A6: The Minute we try to measure is when we lose authenticity for Ss.
If not, it becomes another assessment that is taught toward.
A6:Erroneously. These aren't objectives to check off. They are skills to use and practice. Should be measured in application
They have to be positively reinforced, so we have to at least identify and reward them meaningfully, but I get it.
A6: We saw a huge drop in write ups last year when we started teaching social skills.
I agree, no two teachers will do it alike but still get similar results. https://t.co/MqvjcjVySA
However we decided to measure the soft skills, it needs to be done locally, under teacher control and not at the state level!
A6: Maybe some way for schools to show/tell the public what they are doing. Website, district commercial, S created PSA...
A6: I get measuring=bad for some but doesn't it give a sense of progress especially when not tied to a grade? Like narratives
Well said - empowerment of the teacher. Thank you for being here! https://t.co/ohkhGjs0Ag

Don't measure it unless you are going to use it to drive instruction. Or have the student measure themselves.
Incorporating connects content to real world AND teaches/practices countless soft skills.
Will the be ok with this ?
I hv done dozens of these chats; this is for sure #1, most useful conversation I hv seen so far (esp for the Ss!!!)
Definitely! https://t.co/3lJnUjRPTA
A6: Why do they have to be measured? Won't we see change in society as a whole? We are the makers of generations.
Indeed! Those activities do bRing out these skills in often a smaller more intimate environment. https://t.co/h0ZeK1OnsW
A6: I'd love to see an extracurricular transcript - clubs, sports, community service, etc.
A6 With local control, expectations can be set for s.s. for continuous growth, but we need to explore this area more!
A6: Can Ps and districts trust teachers enough to accept teachers assessment of soft skills without a formal rubric or assessment?
. how 'bout using it in student-led conferences? Let the Ss talk about their successes?
Don't tell them. I won't.
Im mostly asking for ways to express to my school that we need less of our technology. I don't want an education from youtube.
A6: Maybe a better idea... Can we trust Ss to self assess their soft skills??????
A6: measurement= Ss & Ts talking about diff., Discipline refers. drop, Ss enagage with others unalike themselves
Funny how a conscious effort can ah be a powerful impact isn't? 😉 https://t.co/s6YTWnr2nW
A6: We saw a huge drop in write ups last year when we started teaching social skills.
WOW! What an amazing night of chat! I get goosebumps thinking about the awesome teachers we have!
Yes. The State Board is on board on this topic and how to encourage it.
Communication with the community a school is located in and around can be a powerful ally. https://t.co/OBZdrGsk87

A6: Ss can drive 'assessment' in class by identifying and acknowledging skills important to them? 'Caught Being Good-ish'
We HAVE to trust teachers and their judgement!
Well that was quick, and great! Thanks for the chat !
A5: Ss learn to express their self w/ Self-awareness circle - I see..I think..I feel..I want.. I will do. Great skills for comm.
Thanks for a great and timely topic!
Thank goodness! I fear in the age of tech more soft skills willbe lost we must help Ss learn these skills. https://t.co/Sgyjp38j9F
Yes. The State Board is on board on this topic and how to encourage it.
. I think we can trust them to at least talk about it in academic ways what caused them to grow or be challenged

A6 Emphasis on soft skills will show in data we already collect. Soft skills= stronger relationships = higher S achievement
A6: Soft skills graded in rubrics with group projects. Easy to identify the SS you needed for the group to be successful.
A6: don't let assessment conflict with everything you want to accomplish in the first place with soft skills!
didnt get a chance to respond tonight saw many great and inspiring responses. Great to have Ts like in my district!
This is so beautifully written. Rest in peace and blessings to his family.
