I’m Paula, email extraordinaire for the TR team! I LOVE reading about the activities in your classrooms, what have you #globaleducators been working on lately for the DOS reports?

I am Sashoi. I teach at Pittman Elementary and Leadership Academy. I have been doing a lot as my third grade class has been focusing on Africa. We did Christmas around the world in Decemeber and my class focused on Kenya. It was a lot of fun.#participatetrchat
I have been participating in different cultural activities like character day and celebrations around the world! in which first graders got to decorate a giant colombian map and learn about the five natural regions of Colombia. #participatetrchat
My school had an event called Global Fun Run, where each third Grade class represented a particular country. I capitalized on the opportunity of having my kids represented Jamaica.

A1- Hi I'm Hannah, I teach kindergarten at Powell Elementary in Raleigh. I'm from the U.K. I am attending a girl scout meeting on Weds and taking along some fun activities.I will be having a tea party, making crowns, looking at US and UK on a map with the girls #participatetrchat
Cultural Activity: Talk to your apartment complex to get their permission to display a posterboard about your home country in the leasing office for a week. #participatetrchat
We recently had an amazing Global Festival, where we had our @participate teachers share their culture, as well as inviting parents and students to share theirs too. Showing that global can be local too! #participatetrchat
A1- I am also presenting to parents and members of the community at my school on Friday about my home country and how global learning fits into my classroom...The parents will also be having a tea party! #participatetrchat
That sounds great! Parent involvement is fundamental with such activities and really gets students excited about sharing their global learning. #participatetrchat
Shoutout to @MissGTweetin, I actually loved your virtual exchange example from this year! She used google slide in collab with other teachers at home and across the globe and traded word problems during her multiplication/division lessons for Ss! #participatetrchat
I have used networking via social media to make contact with other teachers. Encouraging students to create and collaborate with classes around the world using Google Docs. EG, word problem challenges, culture shares etc #participatetrchat
It's a great way to combine reading/comprehension skills and global learning.. get Ss to take their own pictures of school and home for the magazine before sharing with Ss in your home country, and you'll really have a lesson they'll remember! #participatetrchat
Who’s done the planting a bean in cotton as a science project? 🙋🏽♀️ Consider doing the same with students from back home. Use math skills to measure and compare. Study the differences and similarities #participatetrchat
Google docs is a great idea! Last year I used a more simple method of filming my class and sending a video through dropbox to a school in the U.K. #participatetrchat
Connect with teachers from your university days, join multiple PLT groups and chats on Facebook and Twitter, contact former colleagues, network at PD trainings. There are always teachers and students excited to exchange and collaborate on meaningful projects! #participatetrchat
